RichLynn Construction and Remodeling

DISHONEST, ARROGANT, AND LAZY. Unfortunately, we received a very disappointing experience with Richlynn Construction and its owner, Rich, during the recent basement project that we had hired him for. Despite the promising start to the project, with sub-contractors showing up to the property and initial communications with Rich, things quickly turned for the worse when we made our first lump sum payment and Rich disappeared without any notice. This was the beginning of several instances of dishonest behavior that we experienced from him throughout the project. We were left in a difficult position when his sub-contractors showed up to the property, but none of them knew what needed to be done. In fact, the sub-contractors continually interrupted my workdays to ask where the outlets and lights were going to be installed, what the plumbing layout would be, and in one instance ask me to pick up supplies, all this despite having already discussed this with Rich. After more than two weeks of being a no-show, Rich finally contacted us with only cryptic, one-word texts. He used the excuse of Covid for his absence, and we foolishly gave him a second chance, which turned out to be a HUGE mistake. Issues continued to arise, and we discovered that Rich would be out of town for over two months straight to “Snowbird” in Arizona. He did not mention he would be having an extended absence before we hired him and he had no plan in place for project management. During Rich’s absence, there was ZERO project oversight, and we had to manage the sub-contractors ourselves. Quality of work became a major concern, with the drywallers installing square corners when we had requested round bullnose, and the baseboard trim was of terrible quality requiring multiple sections to be redone, and multiple doors being the wrong size and needing replacement. Even when we asked Rich to explain an outrageous quote he had given us for a section of the bathroom, he refused to provide any explanation and became defensive. When we confronted him about his prolonged absence, he took no ownership of the situation and stated that his apprentice/assistant/errand boy, Cory, would stop by. However, Cory only visited once during the two-plus months that Rich was away to drop off tile. In addition, the designer that Rich “highly” recommended (Katie "Designs by Katie") and who Rich works closely with attempted to steal money and not distribute tile to us but over cha tune SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Rich failed a total of 9 inspections by the county. Over the last three-plus months of the project, Rich only showed up twice and had minimal presence on group texts or phone calls. In an attempt to justify his absence, Rich engaged in baseless and fabricated allegations, falsely asserting that my spouse engaged in harassment towards the contractors and would no longer be present at the property. In addition, he falsely claimed we were not letting him into the basement for inspections. Furthermore, following yet another unsuccessful inspection, Rich resorted to coercive measures by issuing a direct ultimatum: the termination of the building permit would be executed unless we remitted the final payment prior to the project's completion. This flagrant violation of our contractual agreement was not an isolated incident but rather a recurrent pattern of behavior. Consequently, we exercised our right to withhold payment until such time as the contractual obligations were met. This was a major disappointment for us as customers and showed a lack of integrity on Rich’s end. We highly advise against hiring Richlynn Construction and Rich as your contractor, as our experience with them was very unsatisfactory, unprofessional, and dishonest. Potential customers should be warned about the lack of oversight and quality of work, which were major issues throughout our project.

Rich and his team are excellent. From the get go Rich is punctual, upfront, and honest. We searched for months to find the right contractor and couldn't be happier to have found him. First lets talk about timelines and contracors. Rich sets a timeline AND STUCK TO IT! When some minor things where delayed (as they always are) Rich always told us what was going on and when things would happen, and they did. His pricing scale is refresing with honesty in what things typically cost as a scale. This was extremely helpful for budgeting. Finally, and probably the best indicator of Rich as a person is his team. They all were kind, friendly, punctual, and always kept a good sense of humor. All of this during an pandemic to boot. Don't go any further, hire Richlynn you will not be dispointed.

We had this great idea to finish our basement. Nothing fancy. What we ended up with is a beautiful basement that looks so professional and perfect. From the initial consultation, to design, execution, and finally the finished product, the process was easy. Rich came in right on budget. We knew what was happening daily, and everyone he brought in did excellent work. It was a pleasure working with Rich. Such a great guy who loves what he does! The finished product is so much better than we expected! We can’t wait to start making memories in our beautiful new space!

Richlynn Construction did a great job with finishing our basement. They were on time and on budget. I compared many general contractors and Richlynn was the same price but I really liked how they handled materials and their contract. Very responsive. Rich is knowledgeable about construction with little details like door knobs, corners, window trim, and light switches. Our basement is exactly how we wanted it and we changed our minds many times. He never charged a change order fee. Only the cost of the work and materials. He also uses a great designer so we saw what our basement would look like and the permit/inspections were painless.

My master bath remodel turned out more perfect than I even expected! It was done with expertise, efficiency, and the best customer service. It is beautiful and we love it!

I’m very thankful for the Skill, efficiency and professionalism of Jose and Raul’s work. They were hands down the best contractors I have worked with. They were no nonsense and worked hard and fast. They cleaned up after themselves everyday and were very courteous to put up plastic curtains to prevent dust outside of the work space. I love my new Shower!!

I was very impressed with the process and the crews. Nothing but professional all the way. Rich did his job and managed the project with passion and care. I was always informed of arrivals and the plans per team. All of the contractors were excellent at their trade. Very few mistakes and if anything was noted, it was corrected without issue. I would have no problem hiring Rich and his team again and I highly recommend them. I appreciated his timely submission of his bid and it was also price competitive with the competition. If you are considering remodel work, I would get a bid from Richlynn and I hope your experience is as good as mine.

Every thing went well. The workers were always on time and they took time to put down covering to protect my hardwood floors.

We were pleased with the price, professionalism, responsiveness, execution and timeliness of the service. All subcontractors did high quality work. We highly recommend RichLynn Construction and will use them again when needed.

Richlynn was fantastic! It was a large job that required many special cuts. Rich and Peter brought the expertise the job needed. My floors look wonderful now!

We just had our basement finished by RichLynn Construction and his team. We are very happy with their work. They definitely went above and beyond on our job, and worked with us as we made changes along the way. They came in through the basement window, so there was no disruption to the rest of the house. We had around 1000 sq. ft finished, and Rich helped us to design the best use of our space to fit our needs. They have also fixed other things wrong with the house, and we now have a contractor for life.. There were also no financial surprises, he sends out regular reports and stays within the budget he set. Couldn't be more satisfied.

Horrible customer service. Price increased when I reduced scope of project. Nails and debris were all over the yard. When I asked for it to be cleaned, I was charged for a magnet tool that they kept. Grossly underestimated materials cost. Over purchased items that will require a truck to return, including 6 bags of concrete, several 18 ft long boards, redwood spindles, 6x6 beams, that they agreed to return for me that are still sitting in my yard. (I don't have a truck, nor the muscle to lift and load these items.) Was told twice owner was coming over to finish or clean up and never did. Would never recommend. Threatened to take legal action when I had paid everything except the last $800 of increased pricing that he could not explain, after his wife said I didn't have to pay it. I still don't have an explanation of the increased charge.

It went extremely well and the work was completed timely and professionally. I would certainly recommend them.

This was an excellent job. He showed up on time for the bid. The bid was reasonable. He was patient with me while I decided. Once scheduled his team showed up when they said they would. The work is perfect...just as he said...and his team cleaned up like they were never there.

A basement finish is never easy, but Richlynn Construction made it easy from start to finish (we are in the finishing stages now). Rich is in constant communication and has kept me up to date on every step of the process as well as when the work will be done without me having to ask. Rich also offers flexibility that other contractors do not and that I have been able to take the completion of this big project one step at a time and at my own pace. I also love the freedom to supply materials as it allows me to shop around and gives me the opportunity to incorporate specialty items I find along the way that otherwise I would not be able to incorporate. It also gives me the opportunity to check out second hand places like Habitat for Humanity or ReStore for unique items not available anywhere else. Rich's knowledge of construction and materials has help guide me in the final design and keep the project in budget. He is a wonderful resource through the entire process and It has been a pleasure!

Top notch ! all the contractors were all courteous, clean after themselves, good job in maintaining quality and standard. We are not yet done with the job and I am confident that that type of service will continue. Communication has been exceptional and It's been a really good experience all the way so far.

Rich was amazing to work with. Any kind of work you need make sure to get him as your guy!
