Top Dog Handyman

The overall experience was not good. The owner came by and gave us a very reasonable estimate. He stated that he was very busy but could work us in the next week. He presented us with no contract nor written estimate. He told us he had hurt his knee and therefore would not be doing the work himself but would use subcontractors he used and would be by to supervise. I still decided to go with him partly on checking him out on Angie's List and with another recommendation I got. He told us that the work should take between 2-4 days. When I hadn't heard from him by the middle of the week the following week I called and he said they would be over the next day to start. They arrived and the owner told the other man what needed to be done. Afterwards I spoke with the owner and said I had written down a list of things that we had originally discussed just so that we would be together as to what was to be done. He agreed. He then left and his subcontractor stayed and started to work. The subcontracted covered the things that had to remain in the room. He then put up the plastic on the doorway keep the dust from the rest of the house. At 3pm he said he had to leave and was going out of town for a week. He put his trash outside and left. The next day, the owner came by and when we asked him about the other man, he said he was aware that he had left and the owner and another person would be back to do mudding . They arrived. He left and came back later to help. He said they would be back on Monday to do another coat and get the texturing done. They arrived and he left again leaving the other person working. On Friday the owner had the person who does his clean up come by. That person brought a grandbaby and was very distracted by the baby's crying. On the following Tuesday the owner and his original subcontractor arrived to do the trim work. The owner left leaving the other person to do the work. This person had not listened to the owner on the instructions of what was to be done and did it his way. He also used my roommates new saw without my permission and didn't put it back where he found it. He did a poor job of cleaning up and was disrespectful to both of us. At 3pm he said he was done and left. The trim job looks like it was done by a 10 year old. On Wednesday the owner came over with his bill and was mortified by the job that his subcontractor had done. He was very apologetic. And asked what he could do. I said there was nothing to be done that I just wanted it over with. He did give us a very reduced price which I paid so that we will have to have no further contact with him. The 2 day job took 2 weeks. We will have to have the trim work done as well as some of the drywall.

Glen showed up on time for the estimate and was friendly as well as professional. After I explained all of the projects that needed to be done, Glen came up with an estimate that was very reasonable. He also knew we were on a time crunch and was able to start on our projects quickly. It took Glen only 4 days to complete the projects which was exactly the time he told me during the estimate. We plan to use Glens services again and would recommend him to anyone who needs a good handyman.....trustworthy, too!

Their punctuality and work quality was good. They got done quicker than they said they would and did a good job. Their pricing was very reasonable and I will use them again in the future.
