R & R Handyman

I originally hired Ron through Dave Bullock, of "Handyman Can" infamy. Dave is a very high-pressure salesman, probably so no one will have time to look at his previous "F" report here on the List. I reluctantly agreed to sign a contract authorizing Dave to buy and install a portable carport for me, as well as doing the work mentioned above, and gave him a check for slightly more than half the amount made out to himself. Fortunately, by the time I did read the report on Dave, I found out Ron would be doing all the work himself. (Ron is no longer associated with Dave, I'm happy to say.) When I changed my mind about the carport, Ron had no problem using the installation fee to paint my bedroom for me instead, but apparently Dave does not intend to reimburse me -- or Ron -- for the carport I did not buy. I say "apparently" because he's never returned any of my calls about it. And it turns out Dave kept all the money from the first check himself, though Ron did 100% of the work. Amazingly, Ron insisted I deduct the $500 for the carport from his own check, because it would be unfair to me to pay for something I never got. (!) He did an excellent job at all the things I asked him to do, and was very knowledgeable about the best and most cost-efficient way to handle them. So I highly recommend him, not only because of his honesty and integrity, but because he just did a great job at everything I asked him to do.
