This company is a joy to work with. We told them what we wanted and they went beyond our expectations. Very responsive. On-time met deadlines. They have very clean and respectful workers! I would absolutely use them again. Very happy clients.

Pittman crew were outstanding to work with. Nate and Kim were true professionals. Craftsmanship was outstanding and I was well pleased with the finished basement. I will enjoy the added living space for years to come! Jim and Briana were responsive with any questions I had. Project completed successfully without major issues. Will hire again for next project. Thanks Jim and crew!

Working with Jim and his crew was a great experience. I had the opportunity to work from the house for the majority of the several month process while the team worked on the job. I enjoyed the team so much I was actually really sad to see them go. In their place they left us with a beautiful finished basement, built to our specifications, that we are now thoroughly enjoying as a family. I would give my absolute unconditional recommendation to Pittman Construction, the quality of their work, their crew, their choice in sub contractors and their communication, you wont be disappointed.
Description of Work: We had the Pittman Construction team finish our 1100 sq ft basement. What we really appreciated about the process was how Jim and Briana worked with us to develop a plan, provide ideas and feedback on our thought processes. They were invested in our build from the start and we could tell they were a different kind of contractor from our very fist meeting. They were patient with us when we need to put together our finance plan and were engaged when we came back to them a number of months later to get the job started.

Jim and his crew were SO easy to work with. They were profession at all times, responded quickly to my emails, gave me a realistic timeline, and always told me when they were going to return to get to the next phase in the project. I also appreciated that Jim and Briana worked very hard keep us on budget and their estimate was on point. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: What we really needed was a new layout for our kitchen/dining room and Jim and Briana had great ideas. We completely demoed those rooms. With their layout, we got new cabinets, an island, new countertops, a pantry (the lack of a pantry was a huge issue for me and Jim noticed the lack of one right away). In the course of this, we needed to move an HVAC vent, update and add new electrical.

Jim's crew kept us on time and we were able to move into the house almost to the very date that we had scheduled. He has checked with us several times since we moved in jut to make sure everything was working as it should.. Our total cost with Jim directly was in the $100,000 range and they itemized every detail that they handled. Our daughter is an interior designer by education and is licensed and she said all of Jim's people were easy to work with and very professional.
Description of Work: We bought an older house and needed to update some areas that fit our needs. The biggest issue was installing an elevator as the house was three stories and my wife has a problem with stairs. Thius was the biggest issue but the remodeling concerned inside and outside work. It included using electricians, plumbers, Painting inside and out, replacing garage doors. Basically at the very beginning we outlined everything that we wanted done. We went over the parts where an architect was needed and Jim brought in the appropriate technical people for the areas that his crew did not handle. On some areas such as floors, he advised us to work directly with the flooring people as they would guarantee their work and it would be cheaper. We actually did not move into the house until they were almost completely finished and in fact we left on a vacation for about two weeks as we had utmost confidence that Jim's crew would handle everything in a professional manner, which they did.

It was very positive. We found that their general carpentry and painting was reasonable. However, when they had to go sub it out for electric and plumbing, we didn?t use them, because they were too expensive. We used them because they were on Angie?s List. We thought that their painting and carpentry quotes were reasonable. Whether they were better than anybody else or less than anybody else, we have no idea, we didn?t look around for that. They did that work themselves. We didn?t except their proposals on electric and plumbing. I would use them again for painting and carpentry. It was excellent. They were prompt, professional, but I wouldn?t use them for work that they had to sub out. They cleaned up very well. The workers were excellent.
Description of Work: They did painting and carpentry kind of work.

Working with Jim Pittman, Briana and his team was a fantastic experience. they met and exceeded ALL of our expectations. They were very professional, knowledgeable, supportive, punctual and the quality of all the work they completed was top notch. They all helped us through a large renovation project and were always there to answer any questions that we had. We will definitely go to them first in the future with any of our renovation/construction needs.

Good experience starting with the on-site estimate through job completion. Showed up when they said they would, performed the work as expected- that was really a huge expectation of ours and a tremendous relief. Regular updates in person and by phone, especially for potential changes or unexpected challenges (weather, etc). Ongoing collaboration throughout the job for specific preferences on the details.On-site crew was mindful of our dog related to back yard access and kept everything tidy at the end of each workday. We're very happy with Jim, his fantastic crew, and how the whole project unfolded. Our finished garage is fantastic.

Extremely well. Jim Pittman, contractor, was a good listener and offered outstanding ideas to our plans. He was easy to get ahold of and responded quickly to all of our calls. We got along with all of his workers as if they were family. We commented how good his people were to one of his subs and he said, "Jim always picks good people". HIs workmanship was superior. His timing and planning always kept things moving. He stayed within schedule even with our "additions" during the project. We believe we were treated extremely well. Not only would we highly recommend them we would use Pittman Construction again. John & Sheila Winslow

Bottom-line: Pittman Construction provides high quality work on time and within budget. Our experience with Pittman Construction was exceptionally positive. Working with experts like Briana, Kim, Joe and Nate took much of the anxiety out of our project. We will use this company in the future. As we embarked upon our project, we devoted significant amount of time to research and planning. This allowed us to review various businesses to perform the work (Angie?s list provided exceptional contacts) and to understand the complexities of our project. This research provided a realistic budget and timeline which was greatly shaped by the experiences and expertise of Pittman Construction. One aspect of the Pittman Construction cost estimate of great value to us was the use of options. Options were items that we wanted in our project but were willing forgo if unforeseen costs arose. For instance, we knew that we needed to install new cabinets but we could pass on the installation of a barn door. Pittman Construction priced out both items and included both on the estimate. This allowed us to gauge costs as the project progressed and make decisions as unforeseen costs arose. Any remodeling project brings a certain amount of chaos. To mitigate this chaos, Pittman Construction employed a strategy of clear and consistent communications. If we called, they would respond with a phone call. If we e-mailed, they responded with an e-mail. During the planning phase, we typically heard back from Pittman Construction within 48 hours. During construction, we heard back the same day or at the start of the next day. Each request we made to meet on-site was scheduled around our activities and done quickly. All concerns were captured and addressed. These detailed discussions and quick responses significantly reduced the level of stress associated with our remodel. A fabulous team!
Description of Work: Our project involved many trades to include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting and carpentry. Key components included the removal of 4 walls and acoustic ceiling texture (e.g. popcorn); electrical rework (16 can lights, two 220V electrical lines, 19 outlets, etc.); re-route of sink water and drain lines; construction of a pantry, pony wall and window seat; installation of 28 new cabinets; movement of HVAC system supply lines; skim coating, new texture and paint to 4,000 sq ft of wall and ceiling; and the installation of 1,000 sq ft of solid hardwood flooring.

The workers were professional and listened to what we were wanting. They also offered suggestions that were very helpful. They cleaned up after themselves very well. When a third party messed up, they were right on it letting us know every step of the way. They worked hard to get the situation rectified. I was very impressed. We love the end result. They put out good quality products. They aren't done until it is done right. The wall is straightened up and a good quality back door is put in properly. Our panty is first rate. Not much more to say except I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We had a built in pantry put into our kitchen, so we could lock the door. We had some big holes in our drywall patched up. We also had our back door replaced and the wall beside it pushed back into place.

We were so pleased with Jim Pittman and his crew on our project. We were in a time crunch, and they worked quickly to get us a quote and get us scheduled to start work. Joe worked on our project, and I cannot say enough good about him. As a homeowner, he did everything that I would have wanted him to do. Not only was his work excellent, but he always let me know when he was coming and going and cleaned up everyday after he was done. We had a few hiccups with the plumber (from another company), and Jim was so great to work with us with scheduling around that and getting what we needed done before our closet system was to be installed. We have more projects coming up and we will definitely have Jim and his crew back out.
Description of Work: We had a pocket door put in, patching and texture of drywall, and framing and sheetrock around some plumbing pipes in our garage.

Jim and his crew did a fantastic job with the two door projects I had for him! He is one of the few contractors I have worked with that has exceptional communications skills. Jim contacted me within hours of me submitting my service requests. He was flexible and able to work around my work schedule to complete both jobs in our agreed upon time frame. His team's craftsmanship is top notch! The door they installed at the top of my basement stairway looks like it was originally installed when the house was built! All of the work including the framing, drywall, texturing, and painting are of the highest quality. Each of his team members not only provided top notch work, but they have exceptional customer service skills! I will use Jim on any of my new construction and remodeling projects! I highly recommend Pittman Construction to anyone looking for a licensed construction and remodeling contractor. Thanks Jim to you and your team for handling my projects in such a professional manner!

The difficult part of the project was dealing with the insurance company, but dealing with Pittman Construction was a pleasure. Every single time someone was scheduled to come over, they came on time or early. They were always kind and patient and answered all my questions. The drywall guy did excellent work and was as neat as a pin. Reimer's Masonry had to remove and replace all the brick on my house and they did a wonderful job. The painting crew went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. The office staff was helpful and very responsive. Usually at the end of any project I have a long punch list of corrections to be made, but I could not find a single the thing that Pittman Construction neglected.
Description of Work: An elderly man with a medical issue crashed his vehicle into my house damaging the foundation demolishing the brick and making the garage structurally unsound. Jim came out right away and stabilized the garage and put a secure weatherproof covering over the hole in my house. Then he negotiated with my adjuster to be sure we could get the job done right. He kept the job moving by scheduling his employees and subcontractors on every day the weather would allow. Everything was taken care of down to the smallest detail and my house is now as good as new.

This was our second project done by Pittman Construction. We are happy with the results and Jim just started a third project which is remodeling of our basement. Project involved a lot of coordination between Pittman Construction and its subcontractors (the main subcontractor did tile work, heated floor and hardwood floor), our kitchen cabinet installer, our fireplace installer and us. We ordered many items online and caused some delays by changing the design on the go. - Jim did not spare his time and effort in managing the project. He visited very often to keep an eye on the work progress. If needed, he would get an engineer?s advice (assessing location of a heavy bathtub), spend additional time researching options (master bedroom soundproofing) or lend his crew a hand if time was essential. If necessary to achieve a high quality of work, he did not avoid a hard talk with subcontractors; this was the case with hardwood installation & refinishing and some plumbing issues. - Dan, Joe, Kim and Nate (Pittman Construction's employees) know their trade very well. They do not take any shortcuts even if these shortcuts would be hidden after the job is finished. Top notch work quality. They give good suggestions, are always on time and a pleasure to be around. They are very careful and do things in a cleanest and least disturbing way possible. Briana, the Office Manager, replays to e-mails promptly and is always helpful. - Installation of Majestic "Echelon" 60? fireplace in the limited space we had was a real challenge. Implementing our design (floating hearth) while meeting the building code required a lot of technical skills and coordination between Pittman Construction, the fireplace installer and the stone installer. Every quarter of an inch counted and thanks to Dan?s and Jim?s skills the framing was successful. - Professional cleaning was done as the last step of the project.
Description of Work: - Master bath: removing & building walls, relocating doors, building curbless shower with a trench drain, replacing a peninsula fireplace with two separate torch fireplaces (one on the master bedroom side), installing a free standing bathtub, floating cabinets and heated floor, etc. - Powder room: wall mounted toilet and floating cabinet installation, tiling, etc. - Kitchen: soffits and chase removal, wall building, island framing, hood installation (removing downdraft), recessed lights installation, glass tile backsplash, electrical for new appliances and cabinets, etc. - Great room fireplace: old fireplace replaced with Majestic "Echelon" 60” - Laundry room: countertop, stainless steel backsplash, sink and cabinet installation - New hardwood installation and old hardwood refinishing (about 1500 sq ft) - Painting of the entire main level - Master bedroom floor soundproofing

Jim and his crew are absolutely awesome. They are truly perfectionists. Number 1, they do great work, but they are also always on-time ready to work and take great pride in cleaning up after themselves everyday. I have two small children and I never had to worry about my kids getting hurt because of any debris left lying around. What I love best about Pittman Construction is that you aren't working with different sub-contractors, you are working with actual employees which means they aren't trying to race to get the work done at the cost of quality so they can move on to the next project. I would highly recommend Pittman and will be using them again in the future if my needs arise.

Jim and his crew were great. They were very thorough when they came to look over the job. They spent a lot of time so we could talk about what I wanted and what they could do to help me. They emailed a proposal a few days later that I accepted. The rainy weather created unpreventable delays but they did a great job. and I am really pleased with the end result I was out of town during much of the work, but Jim kept in touch and kept me informed about the job. Jim with Pittman construction has completed several renovations projects for me, the most recent being a large 12x13 cedar pergola over our existing patio. I have been very happy with the work Jim and his team have done - Jim is very easy to work with, receptive to your ideas and was encouraging to me when I wanted to do some aspects of the projects myself to save on cost. Jim's prices are extremely reasonable compared to other quotes I received - I will definitely be calling Pittman Construction when we are ready to tackle another big project!

I contacted Jim Pittman on a saturday after receiving a Home Inspection Report required to sell our house. He was very helpful and let me know he would come by and look at what was required and submit a bid by Wednesday the next week. The bid came back very affordable and well within our price range (under $400). Even though many of the repairs were simple Jim had no problem getting the repairs done. Once the proposal was accepted Jim was able to get someone out to work on the repairs on Friday. The employees Jim sent were very prompt and professional. Also the work they did was very quick and well done. My wife and I were very impressed with the work and entire experience we had with using Pittman Construction. I highly recommend Pittman Construction and am extremely satisfied with the work and services provided. Here is a big "Thank You" to the entire Pittman Construction team. A very satisfied Customer!!
Description of Work: Pittman Construction conducted seven repairs required from a Home Inspection repair report. Repairs including replacing a GFI outlet, Garbage disposal, Bonding copper piping, repairing a leak on a sink, replacing a deteriorating window trim, installing baffles in the attic, and HVAC cleaning and certification.

I am professional business woman who dreads having to bring contractors/ service providers into my home. From the first meeting, Jim was professional and offered up ideas within cost ranges. His team include Dan, Kim and Nate. They are outstanding in skill and show absolute respect for my home, continued kindness to my animals and always communicate to me all information I need to know. While all three have contributed ideas that enhanced my remodel, Dan in particular, came up with the handrail and privacy wall design. I have received complements on both from everyone who enters my home. To say they all, Jim included, are great at their jobs and have a passion for what they do is an understatement. JIm is onsite often and checks in frequently by phone to just touch base and make sure everything is as I hoped it would be. I had a terrible experience with a gutter company during which Jim just happened to be onsite. I told him what I heard the men saying and he stepped in and handled it. He had no financial interest in the deal but just wanted to help me as he saw I was being mistreated. I can't tell you how much I appreciated what he did for me. Pittman Construction is a high quality company run by and employing people I genuinely respect and have come to count on.
Description of Work: Found Jim's company on Angie's List to put planks over a popcorn ceiling for my 1970's ranch home in July of 2013. Since then his company has helped me remodel my entire house to include all ceilings, trim, painting inside and out, and most recently a new deck with a fantastic handrail and privacy wall. He will be remodeling my kitchen, building a new storage shed and turning an existing shed into an outdoor kitchen this spring/summer.

I asked for an estimate to patch and paint a medium sized bedroom. I had a large scarf draped from the ceiling. I asked for it to be taken down and the ceiling patched where nails had hung it up. Paint the ceiling if the scarf left damage that would be noticeable. I also asked for one pair of curtain brackets to be moved from the outside of the window to the inside, where there is a little nook area, then patch and paint where the brackets were moved. I thought the estimate of a little above $900.00 was high for this amount of work, so I called around. I got another painter to do the same work for about 75% less and he did an excellent job. UPDATE: Jim Pittman called me twice concerned about his review. He told me his estimate was above the company I used, because he runs a legitimate business and has to pay his workers a fair price, as well as, pay for their insurance, etc.. I told him that I had no intentions of hurting his business, but that I owed it to Angie's List members to give an honest account. That's why I use Angie's List. The fact is the company I used was also off Angie's List and is a legitimate business and was able to offer excellent service at a much lower price. Mr. Pittman said he would no longer offer paint-only projects on Angie's List as he considers himself a general contractor. I changed his overall score to a "B", because I used another company, so I did not get to see how the bedroom would have looked had he performed the work.

Response from Pittman Construction LLC
Dear Member, While we appreciate all feedback, positive and negative, we must respectfully disagree with your review. I had explained that certain parts of the job would require patching, painting, etc. that would not only entail more time, but also more money to have the work performed correctly. While we are not the least expensive company, we are competitively priced and our quality is reflective of that. We do believe in paying our employees a fair and competitive wage and based on the numbers given to me for the contractor used on your project, the hourly wage for the work done would have been just over $8.00 (including overhead). This is well below the hourly wage I pay my employees. We are sorry we could not accommodate your budget and are glad that you are pleased with the work that was done. But for a more accurate depiction of the other work that we do, please look at our other reviews where work was actually performed. We will be reposting our painting services immediately. Thank you, Pittman Construction LLC

Highlights: - Every one person was very nice and professional. It was a pleasure to work with Jim Pittman and his crew members Dan, Kim, Nate, Joe and others. - The job was finished on time and priced as quoted with one reasonable adjustment. - Always on time, a scheduled appointment never missed. All changes to the schedule were announced in advance. Excellent communication by e-mail and phone. - Attention to detail, not taking shortcuts. For example, the hardy backer sheets under the tiles were sealed together. Overall, VERY good quality of work. - After the job was finished and paid for, there was a problem with the dryer. It tumbled but the heat was off. We suspected the dryer was out of order, but Sears technician pointed to the electrical connection problem. Jim offered us reimbursement for the technician visit, came immediately with the electrician and did not charge for the work done even as in the end it happened not to be related to the job done by his company. - When remodeling the laundry room, the time when dryer and washer were disconnected was kept to the minimum.
Description of Work: - Four new walls framing, drywall installation and texture - Relocating washer/dryer hook-up - Removing old and installing new tiles in the entry and laundry room - Removing soffits in the kitchen and installing drywall and texture in its place - Building a new closet and installing a new entry door and interior window in the office - A lot of electrical work involved - Some other jobs
