I was very impressed with Charlie who executes the orders. This order was obviously not the normal for this large steel company that normally works with contractors. Charlie just asked me a few pertinent questions, drew it on his desk CAD program, made a few suggestions and that was it. I picked it up several weeks later at a price I was very pleased with. I had an idea, Charlie and his crew made it work and I'm thrilled with the results.
Description of Work: They fabricated a 6 foot steel cross that I designed to go over my fireplace.

I am finishing my basement. An I-beam that partially spans the basement (there is a break in the beam where the HVAC crosses) and the column supporting it were out of plumb, the I-beam twisting. After getting an engineering recommendation to weld in beam stiffeners, a builder I work with made three recommendations. Angie's list has no reviews for Welders in my community (until now). After leaving messages with two, Pike's Peak Steel answered. Charlie was able to give me a quick quote and schedule a welder for the next day. I was happy with the quote (less than my friend thought) so i went with them without waiting for other bids. Jay showed up early, waited for me to get home from work, was polite, professional and knowledgeable. He saw that we could straighten (plumb) the column with some of my woodworking clamps. Jay said he sees this more than once per week. Knowing that, and after working with him, I'd be comfortable skipping the engineer (an expensive 15 minutes) and letting him recommend/accomplish the solution. I trust that if it was a condition he hasn't seen before, he would recommend an engineer evaluation. First, he is a professional. Second, he and his company have some liability. He finished the job in less time than Charlie estimated, cleaned up after himself, doing an outstanding job. I've never worked with better in my many home projects. Charlie updated the invoice, accepted my credit card over the phone, and my basement project is moving without any real delay.
Description of Work: Helped me plumb a column under an I-beam. Welded on 4 I-beam stiffeners. Welded the column to the I-beam.
