Pikes Peak Moving & Storage Company

I used the Wheaton Senior Citizen New Beginnings package. Pikes Peak Moving and Storage was wonderful. I can't say enough about them or their employees. I recommend them. I had read moving "horror stories" online, so, as a senior citizen, I was hesitant to work with anyone, but even the packers were terrific. Always get full insurance, but I didn't have to use it, as nothing was damaged.

Movers showed up on time. We had moved most of the small stuff and our clothes ourselves. They had the furniture and about 30 boxes to move. They went about their work and had everything in the truck in 2 hours. As they went to close the truck, they could not get the ramp to stow properly and attempted to jam it in with the furniture. When that didn't work, they stowed the ramp on the other side of the van. They arrived at the new location at the scheduled time. While unloading, they confused several of the box labels and put living room boxes in the family room and vice versa. We also heard some sort of noise (I believe that the front storm door blew closed) and the driver raced over to help them with whatever problem they had encountered. I was not near the location at the time, so I'm not clear about what went on. The day after the move we discovered 2 separate "scrapes" on that storm door glass. When they brought in one of our office sets, my housemate discovered that there were 3 chunks out of the top of her (particle board) bookcase. There were also gashes in the top of the matching file cabinet. One of the movers explained, "That's what happens with particle board furniture." Dings, yes. Gashes, we don't think so. We later also found an antique table that had damaged drawer pulls. As they were finishing bringing in the furniture, the driver realized that he could not find his tool box and had apparently left it at the other house. He had also left the screws he needed to put a mirror and desk back together in the tool box. I volunteered to drive him over to the house and he recovered his tool box. While they did not charge me for the extra time, if he had taped the screws to the piece of furniture, we could have used my tools to get everything back together. We also had 3 large bookcases that we tried to explain needed to be left away from the wall so we could get access to the electric outlet. This seemed to be a foreign idea. We also told them not to install the metal pieces that hold the bookcases together at the top. They left one of the pieces laying there on the top, but we don't know where the other pieces are. The final charge was for 6 hours, the amount that was used in the estimate.

They are good about returning calls. They were able to move us on short notice. They were very professional overall. Nothing was damaged during the move. They were a little bit late because they got lost, so it was understandable.

Great! The packers were professional and careful. Everything was well crated.
