Old Town Masonry

My wife and I have owned several houses over the years and have hired many contractors. We had the best experience with Duane from Old Town Masonry that we have ever had. He is a true craftsman and professional and a true gentleman. His craftsmanship rebuilding our wall is outstanding and our customer experience with him beat our expectations. We highly recommend him.

Duane and his worker, Chuck did an amazing job. It is really nice to find a craftsman that takes pride in his work and does not rush his work. If you want a mason that has excellent skills, knowledgeable, patient and wants you to be extremely satisfied, Duane is your guy. I would not let some of the negative reviews sway you in calling Duane. He came out to our house last fall when we were first initially considering the project to give us some ideas. Earlier this year, we decided to go forward with the project and Duane came out again to discuss our project. From there, e-mail communication worked just great. Duane finished on time, on budget and as always, cleaned up the area afterwards. We will definitely use Duane for any other masonry jobs we might have.

Duane was great to work with. He took his time to do the job right and made it a great experience for us. When the dry-stack look ended up taking extra time with the irregular stone that we chose, he didn't readjust the quote or charge us extra for the additional labor. Was very professional the whole time and the end product is better than we even imagined. In about a week's time our fireplace went from dated brick to gorgeous stone that extends all the way to the top of the vaulted ceiling. We would absolutely hire Old Town Masonry again for other masonry work.

The stone work that Duane does is stellar. He really knows his trade and brings the customer's wish list to fruition. The quality of the work is exceptional. And, Duane is such a pleasant person to work with. He is the go-to stone mason in Colorado Springs for a very good reason.

He was the most responsive and was on time when he said he would be. The only complaint was the block I was thinking I would get was not quite the same.

Despite repeated attempts to contact them they never returned my calls. Eventually, I was able to talk to someone (after 3 or 4 unreturned calls), where they bothered to tell me that they weren't taking new clients. Must be nice. Hope they do not need new clients in the future, because I will not be one. So I did the work myself.

Duane continues to impress me with his quality work and attention to detail. He truly takes pride in his work and won't stop until you're 100% happy. We have used him multiple times on our personal home and investment properties. He will always be my first call for any masonry work I have!

We had an existing 4' wood picket fence that we wanted to remove and install a 6' wood picket fence with brick piers in its place.. Duane had a few challenges as there is a large silver maple with big roots growing where some of the post holes needed to go. The ground along the fence line slopes a bit which made the installation a challenge to try and get the columns the same height. Duane made adjustments to the number of brick courses that made all the piers look level. Duane did have another brick mason with excellent workmanship skills to assist him in getting the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Both Duane and Ronnie were very conscientious and skilled with installing the columns. Duane was very patient and helpful in making sure we were happy with the outcome. He is a very busy mason so he may have to make some schedule changes, but rest assured he will be there to get the job done. He did a great job of cleaning up the project site afterwards and power washed our driveway when he was done. We would use Duane again for any other masonry projects in the future.

Duane was an absolute pleasure to work with. He is an absolute perfectionist. I had ordered the stone based on what I ordered when I built my house 3 years ago and when Duane finished his prep work and was ready to start laying stone, he noticed it didn't match and called me right away. I reordered the stone to get the right stuff, but it was on back order and took a month to come in. Duane would continually check with me to check on its status and was always ready to start if and when the correct stone came in. Due to delivery issues from the stone company, Duane had to adjust his schedule twice due to inaccuracies from the stone company on when they were actually delivering. Once we got the correct stone, Duane put in as many hours as it took and brought in another mason friend of his to help finish the job in shorter time to allow us to get our house back in order faster. Their work was nothing short of spectacular. They matched the pattern of the original stone and added a mantle, as well. I cannot be happier with the work performed. An absolute pleasure to work with.

I hired Duane to build a free standing bricked in mail box as well as a matching bricked light pole. He was very professional and did superb work from start to finish. I am seriously considering having him build a fire pit in the backyard. He is very knowledgeable on tile, brick and masonry type of projects.

Duane came in when I needed him (I wanted my basement put back together before a family visit!) and replaced a ton of grout. He got the job done better than the guys who originally built the fireplace. (He did what he could to fix their mistakes.) Duane is great. I would highly recommend him and definitely use him again.

From beginning to end Duane did an excellent job. He took the time to make specific recommendations and gave me options to choose from. He searched for a piece of sandstone that would best match the other stone. The installation went great; after he started the job he had to replace more stone than originally planned. I'm sure he could have just pieced it together but he spent the extra time to make it look good and did a quality job that will last. He didn't even change the price......same as he quoted. Bottom line, I'll never use another mason; call Old Town, you won't regret it.

Duane and Chuck are excellent Mason's. We added on a 300 foot sunroom addition to our brick house built in 1964. Duane matched the brick and mortar perfectly and the work is beautiful. We enjoyed watching the transformation and they took their time to fit each angle perfectly and to tie it altogether into the main structure. We couldn't be happier and would hire him again in a heartbeat.

They came on a SUNDAY because we needed the work done quickly. They were on time and worked solidly the whole time they were here. The two men were extremely pleasant and friendly. They obviously take pride in the work and in their reputation - which is well deserved. Having a majority of our experiences with construction folks more often characterized by unexceptional work quality, empty promises, poor scheduling and poor communication - this business is a fresh positive experience. We HIGHLY recommend them. You are bound to be happy.

Duane is by far the best mason I've used here in the Colorado Springs area. He returned my call requesting an estimate same day. After coming to the job site he had an estimate for me within a couple days, slightly lower than the competition. The work he did was great, truly a craftsman. My wife and I are very "particular" and he ensured we were 100% happy and has numerous times reminded us that he will come out any time if we notice something later that we're not happy with. We still notice small details he did to make the stone work look natural. It took over two weeks to complete the job but the attention to detail was well worth the time. I've already used Duane and Old Town Masonry for a job at a rental property here in town. As a person who has used a lot of contractors with my personal residence, rental properties, and buying and selling investment properties I can say that, bottom line, you won't be disappointed with Old Town Masonry.

Mason was very prompt , courteous , and dedicated to his work. Even came back on his own time to check on the color match of the stucco patch. Hard to ask for a better job .

Very happy with the work Duane did on our chimney cap. He's courteous, detail oriented and takes pride in his work . We will definitely use him again for other jobs around the house.

The mason was timely in his estimate and plan for construction. Completed all construction work in a single day without additional cost. The final structure is an excellent complement to our house and presents a very favorable street view. He and his helper were on time and highly professional; all work was to specifications. We would use Old Town Masonry for a larger job in the future.

His price was reasonable and the work was excellent. I had a vision and he took that vision and made it reality. It took a lot of engineering on his part to get that done. The courtyard is a curved wall of about fifty foot that is double sided. He just did a very good job on everything that we had and he was very easy for us to work with. He was a little laidback at our house. I liked him. I would use him over and over again. He was great. I would not have any problem recommending him for any brick work.
