O'Briens Carpet One Floor and Home

From ordering with Katie, who listened to our wants and needs, helped us pick out the perfect carpet, to the install with Pedro, it was wonderful! Pedro showed up on time. Asked questions about where we wanted him to move our furniture and made sure he put it back where it came from. He vacuumed the carpet and left professional cleaning marks as if I had a maid come in and done the work. He cleaned up all the old carpet and padding and even sprayed our sub floor with some of his own professional spray because our elderly dog had been peeing on the old carpet. I would ask for Pedro again if I ever needed to have carpet installed!

I was very happy with the results. Bev, the sales/design consultant was helpful on tile selection. She also did a good job of communicating and coordinating to get answers to all my questions. Edin and his installation team were very professional. He selected the perfect location to connect the heating floor wires to the electrical system and to place the thermostat (actual electrical connections were performed by an electrician that I employed separately). After a year of use, I am very happy with the heated floor for winter and the cool tiles for summertime. The floor upkeep is so much easier with porcelain tile, rather than carpeting. The project greatly improved the appearances of the master bath/closet area and the jack-and-jill bath.

The sales associate (Lisa Palmer) at the store was wonderful. Gave us lots of advice and help in choosing the right quality/price carpet for our home. The installation was great. Overall a really good experience and we will be purchasing carpet from them for our other bedrooms in the future.

O'Briens installed carpet and flooring in my (rental) house two years ago and that went well. Included in that was a warranty to stretch the carpet once without charge. Two years later, the carpet needs stretching and it took months to get that scheduled (according to O'Briens, there's been a change of personnel in Scheduling and the new person has been slow to get up to speed). Then O'Briens quoted $125 - stating that there was no warranty for a rental property. After weeks of scheduling efforts (numerous calls to O'Briens - most unreturned), they showed up today (about two hours later than originally promised) and quoted $250. I was ready to agree to that, but they then demanded immediate payment. I was "on the road" and don't travel with my credit card (for that rental); O'Briens refused to bill me and again demanded immediate payment - WHY didn't they tell me that before when I could have paid (in advance)? So I cancelled the service and have already received a quote from another vendor for much less. O'Briens didn't honor the warranty, took months to schedule the job, reneged on the estimate and demanded immediate payment. I won't be using O'Briens again.

My property is in another state, so I wanted to go with the company I felt most comfortable with. Bev at OBrien's emailed regularly, provided pictures promptly, and was thoroughly professional. I felt comfortable and safe going with them even thought I could not see what was happenning before hand. Thanks for helping me get tenents into my house as fast as possible!

I can highly recommend them and they were good. I like that they have a designer who will help you pick out your flooring and carpet. Her name is Beverly. She is really helpful in picking out the colors and the quality of the carpet and the tile. They did a really good job. They did it on a short notice too. The carpets looked beautiful. It’s a good quality. The linoleum flooring is good quality. I had an excellent interaction with them. I had no problems. You pay for quality and service. I needed the job done in one week. Two teams came out and worked the same day.

First I contacted O'Brien's through Angie's list. After a very prompt response I went to the showroom and met Janae. She was amazing. Attentive to my needs, courteous and a pleasure to work with. She showed me several options and expressed the differences between them. Layer she came to measure the place and get an estimated cost. I did go with a higher end carpet for the durability and stain resistance. Afterward the installers came within 3 days of deciding my course of action. My main installer was Noel and he was awesome. They came at the allotteallottedtime frame and got right to work. The whole job took about 4.5-5 hours. The work they did was amazing. I don't even know where the seams in the carpet are. I could not be happier and I have already referred my family and friends to O'Brien's. Keep up the outstanding work

O'Briens was wonderful. I had surgery and could not get out, so Janae came to our house, measured the room, and arranged for the installation of new carpet. Could not have wished for a better experience.

I don't like looking at a bunch of different swatches and picking out carpet. Explained what I was looking for and showed Lisa the color of the walls. She showed me 2 samples that met my criteria and I picked one. In and out in 15 minutes. They called the night before to give me a time range to know when to expect the installers. This morning they called again to further narrow down when they would arrive. They showed up on time and worked until they were done.

They were timely and professional. They were here when they said they would and they did a good job.

All went very well. We purchased the carpet at the North Academy location. Dan'elle, the Sales & Design Consultant we dealt with, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. She clearly described the products and options, made valuable suggestions, and helped us find just the carpet and pad that we wanted. The two installers were friendly, prompt and efficient, carefully moving furniture, removing the old carpet and installing the new. We're delighted with the new carpet and were very pleased with the entire process. (We rated the "Price" "B" only because we don't know how it compares with other companies. We wanted a quality carpet from a trusted source, so we dealt only with O'Brien's.)

O'brien's pays lip service to excellent service and quality but in the end they didn''t deliver for me. ?Their installer was deceptive about color choice for my hardwood refinish, and tried to dissuade me from choosing my selection of "medium brown." ?When I didn't select the color he offered, he applied it anyway without my knowledge and consent. ?He led me to believe he had finished the floor underneath the stove and pushed it out about two inches which made it difficult to detect that it had not been finished. ?He botched the bathroom floor and downstairs area which is discolored now and blotchy. ?There are areas that are blanched or now have no color and other areas that look orangey. ?Sanding at the edges was sloppy and is noticeably incomplete. ?When I called to complain, they sent out another installer who told me I had "nutmeg" on my floor which is a lighter golden brown. ?I had specifically told the first installer I didn't want "nutmeg" and requested "medium brown" multiple times. ?The second installer told me the darker colors are harder to apply. When I told the sales rep that the color looked lighter than medium brown and asked her to verify it, she said you can't tell because all colors look differently on floors. ?O'brien's made excuses and responded with an emotional appeal when I complained: ?"you said you liked that color" and "he worked really hard for you." ?I couldn't trust them to do the color right so I did not ask them to redo it. ?In addition, they put me low on the priority list to fix their mistakes and I had to wait a week without my stove connected for them to come out (after I complained) and spend 15 minutes putting the final coat of poly on the floor. ?They made me wait another week without my stove for them to put it back. ?They told me fine details don't matter if I'm looking at them too closely. ?All of the flaws are noticeable from a standing vantage point. ?They took about 3 weeks to do a job incorrectly and that should have been completed in 3 days. ?They didn't offer to compensate me in any way. ?In addition, they were very sloppy and left layers of sawdust in my garage along with poly footprints. ?I finally had to tell them not to come back. ?I ?am happy that people are pleased with their carpet installation and would guess they are more reputable in this area of service than with hardwood. ?They should stay away from hardwood installation and refinishing until they have reviewed their business practices and increased their skills. ?I used the location on North Academy. ?

I have been very frustrated with other flooring companies so I went to Angie's List to find a new place to purchase flooring. I found O'Briens from the reviews and I'm glad I did! Choosing and purchasing the carpet was very simple, and the salesman who helped me was very nice and very patient with my son, who tagged along and who wanted to have a say in the carpet color. The salesperson answered all of my questions (which were mostly about how easy the carpets were to clean and how durable they are) and helped make sure I could get our space measured and get the carpet installed within a very short time period. The installers were very prompt and very polite and they did a great job. Our basement is old and the walls aren't perfect, but they made the carpet fit perfectly anyway and their work improved the space tremendously. My family really appreciates it!

The process went very well. The installer, Edin and his crew, did a wonderful job. They were on time and cleaned up well when they left. Brenda has always exhibited integrity and great customer service. We've worked with her for almost 20 years and not been disappointed. It's great to have a go-to person for flooring and tile.

The saleswoman, Dan'elle was friendly, knowledgable, and easy to work with. The warehouse called the morning that the materials were to be delivered to confirm that we would be there, and they were delivered on time. The installer, Doug, arrived at the agreed-upon time the next day. He did a great job and the results look great. Overall it was a satisfying experience. I would do business with this company again.

When our house caught fire in October 2013, all I wanted was what I had. It was really difficult for a lot of venders to understand, but O'Brien's listened and when I went to pick carpet, tile, and wood flooring, Brenda showed me several options that were similar to what I had before. Now, I have my house back ... Including flooring that looks identical to before the fire. I can never thank Brenda and O'Brien's enough

The installers were really good. They did a really great job.

I used Obrien's Carpet One off Academy - they are the preferred flooring vendor for Farmers. Do not use them to refinish your hardwood. Initially all was great - measurements spot on - polite and courteous until the job was completed. I will just list the issues: Uneven application of Polyurethane on 4 areas on floor (two reported initially, two found after), Polyurethane splatter on carpet, numerous drill holes from water damage not filled, stain on my walls, destruction of my floorboard trim, small swirl marks all over my floors, uneven sanding of floor, destruction of staircase hand rail, drip marks of stain on wood accent piece, stain and Poly on toe kicks on cabinets, lost my house key and then found it - didn't return for 6 days and to top it all off - I'm pretty sure their original flooring team took a siesta in my downstairs bedroom and to top it all off..the wood flooring areas with the water damage are bubbled now instead of cupped. O'briens came out and took a ton of photos, apologized and said they had the perfect subcontractor to come in to fix ALL of my issues. The subcontractor showed up - roughly two months after the start of this mess - only to tell me that my floors were in such bad shape HE recommended a complete resand and refinish again. He said that he just came off a job where he had to "fix" a number of hardwood issues just like the ones he was witnessing on my floors. He said the sanding equipment they use is faulty and that is why I have swirl marks cut into my floors. When I went back to my insurance company and told them and O'briens what was said they immediately told the subcontractor to NOT go back to my house and that the president would handle it. The President came out to my house, took more pictures and gave me his word (which used to mean something to me) that all would be handled. He said my floors absolutely did not need another refinish and that a screen/recoat would do the trick. I showed him all of the imperfections and he assured me all would be taken care of. The walls and trim would be repainted after the rescreen and I would be fully satisfied. The screen/recoat takes place. O'briens put my family (new baby and husband) in a nice suite and paid for my dogs to be boarded. When we move back in the issues that were supposed to be fixed were not. Holes still not filled, uneven poly spots still uneven and the swirl marks still present. When the contractors come out to fix the uneven poly they use the wrong finish and now my floors are uneven again. They did this a total of 5 times all without a positive outcome. I email the President who doesn't respond to me - instead I get a call from another coordinator saying I was being "too critical". My wall get repainted - the trim is finished - I receive a completely new hand rail (thank god for Ben). When I address to them the uneven finish spots and my bubbled flooring - the response I get is well we told you the only way to fix it is to refinish your floors again. The idea of this company coming back into my house sickened me. They even tried to tell my insurance company I had a second water loss and that is why my floors are bubbled. So the same water mitigation company who handled my water loss comes in to take water readings and assess the new damage (all showed there wasn't another loss), a company called asking for the make/model of my kitchen appliances and without fail - nothing proved their story. End of the day - O'briens will be refunding Farmers for the substandard work and I will getting my floors done right - the third time around. Do I recommend this company? Absolutely NOT. Everyday I walk into my house I am left with the emotional trauma of what my family had to endure and pray that someone can fix their mess. I've filed a formal complaint with my insurance company and am thinking about suing this company for the "TIME" they stole from me. I'd love to have them leave a response to this.

James at O'Briens was very helpful and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the various types and quality of carpet and padding for the home, as well as recommending the best carpeting for our needs in each room. He was also quick to return any calls we made to ensure our satisfaction. The gentleman who came to the home and measured the area, as well as the men who installed the carpeting, were prompt, friendly and professional. We needed to schedule two separate appointments for installation since we were remodeling the home and the company was very accommodating.

We are so impressed with OBrien's Carpet One. From the moment we went to the showroom and began working with James West (salesperson), it was a pleasure and so easy. James practically insisted that we take home samples of the products we were considering to make sure the colors worked in our lighting and with our furniture. He even carried the samples to our car! James worked with the installation department so that we could install at our pace since we had to move virtually everything from one room to another in order to replace the carpet. The carpet and wood installers were professional, prompt, courteous, and did a great job. James called to check in during the week of the installation to make sure everything was going well. We highly recommend this company!

We remodeled the basement bedroom and relocated a closet. They recut, laid down new carpet rails, and stretched a carpet in a small bedroom under an assembled queen sized bed. It was a tight and difficult job, but the guys were great.

Every aspect of our experience with this provider was outstanding. All the people we dealt with were courteous, helpful and extremely efficient. We chose them based on previous reviews on Angies list and we weren't disappointed.
