,I called Larkspur Outlet because I wanted to purchase a barn kit. I looked on line and there were only a few companies in Colorado that provided this service. We went with them because we liked the price , reviews, didn't want to pay shipping from another state and after talking with the owner I felt he would provide a good kit. I also had wanted to customize a size because I didn't want it too big. He talked me into a larger size because he said it was their most popular size and the kits were easy to put together and he had just had a special with no delivery charge. He also led me to believe that my husband and I could build this kit in a week by ourselves. No shipping saved us $550. I purchased that size, 30' x 48'. He said he had dealt with our county before and said he knew what they required. He also told me that if the county wanted any changes we would not be responsible for any other expenditures because of any changes. The county in the past had only required the roof system to be engineered. Now they were requiring the entire building to be engineered. That cost us another $760. When the county inspector was going over the drawings he said the posts were not sufficient for underground use. The owner of the barn kit company did research and found the proper pressure preservitive posts and reopened our kit and replaced the posts and did not charge us for them. However, there are many reasons not to use this company. *Many items were left out of the kit. His most popular size. * The owner was rude and tried to play off the fact that he was inept to " No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, even you." *He got tired of us calling with problems that all were factors of the kit not being complete. He would drag his feet when responding to us. *In the end after numerous trips to bring items that were left out of the kit there were still items that we never received and we had to buy them ourselves. *We had to hire our roofers to complete the barn because the trusses were too large for us. The final total was considerably more than was estimated because there were so many items left out and some of the parts were not the correct size. This kit purchase was one of the worst experiences of our lives and this is after building a house from the ground up. We would not recommend this company to anyone, even our worst enemy.
