Beauty is one of my highest values, and in a renovation project that is not possible without the gift of excellent craftsmanship. Krafted Homes created a beautiful update to my 25+ year old home. They thought of details that added to the quality of the project that hadn't occurred to me. I have gorgeous wood floors, the 1/2 walls are gone and the trim and baseboards added are perfect. It was worth every penny I spent. Thank you Krafted Homes!

They ripped out the kitchen and then went to work on another job for a month. The guy they had put in the cabinets did not install them level and plumb - we had to hire another set of carpenters to come in and reset the cabinets (the granite counter guy could not measure and cut the counters because the installation of the cabinets was so bad). That, alone, set us back another month - as we had to get the cabinets redone and then reschedule with the counter guy. The sub contractor they had redo and patch the wood floors (where the old island had been in the old kitchen layout) was superior. The sub contractor who painted was just bad - he overpainted the kitchen ceiling into the den and dining room and then both he and the contractor acted like I had no right to be upset that they had created more work and screwed up my dining room and den ceililngs. We ended up doing the last part of the trimwork painting ourselves because the paint sub contractor had so messed up the windows - even today - almost 2 years later, it irks me to look at the shlocky job that was done. We also ended up installling the vent hood over the gas cooktop as it involved cutting a hole in one of the exterior walls to the house and we were afraid that would get messed up. We started the renovation in April - and my husband had to give them an ultimatum just to clear out in September - leaving us with tile backsplash still to be done - we hired a great contractor for that - again, buying all the materials before hand and having the plan in hand when the tiler walked in to complete the job. When we got the last request for payment, the electrical work went from a quote of about $1800 to $3000 - and my husband (who had apprenticed for an electrician in his previous life) had to go behind the electrician and fix the wiring to the undercounter lights (they were overheating). My husband sat down with the contractor and insisted that the electrical quote be adhered to. The kitchen looks fabulous - but only because my husband and I were quality controlling the process and if they did something wrong - and then left our job for a week or two, we would hire someone to come in and fix the problem. I could not, in good conscience, recommend this company to anyone to do a kitchen remodel. This is the kind of experience that gives remodeling/renovating a bad rap. The entire cost of the project was 55,000 - the contractor yielding about 18,000 of that. Ron Reed (the husband mentioned above): A bit of context should be added to the above critique. Prior to signing on, Paul was very clear about the fact that his company had a pre-existing contract to install a bunch of windows in condos in Crested Butte, CO. As a result, any work that he did for was was likely to be interrupted and stretched out. We knew that going in. I had worked with Paul before and had (and still have) a very high opinion of his honesty, capabilities and professionalism. During the construction, I was not disturbed by the work that Paul did, nor surprised that he was not around as much as we might have liked. That being said, I was VERY surprised at the low quality of much of the work performed by his subs. Their attitude seemed to be that, if you couldn't see it, it didn't matter how well it was done. Of all of the subs, the electrical contractor was almost as bad as the guy who originally installed the cabinets. Contrast this to Paul worrying a 1/4" misalignment over a 60 foot span when we erected a metal building at a clinic a couple of years earlier. By "worrying" I mean, stopping the job until the misalignment wasn't misaligned any more. I think, in the final analysis, Paul was very poorly served by his subs on this job. With the exception of the guy who did the floors, I would not hire any of them. On the other hand, Paul is very capable and I would not hesitate to work with him again.
Description of Work: Hired them to completely remodel our kitchen - demolishing everything there and working with our design, our materials. We bought cabinets from Lowe's, and all new major appliances/new sink were purchased and on site before they started. Lowe's kitchen designer was AWESOME - and we had the whole kitchen laid out and cabinets ordered - granite ordered - and so, all materials were paid for - we hired them to IMPLEMENT the plan.

We are in the middle of it now and he has put in a bunch of big windows and done a bunch of work. I know his work and I can’t say enough good things about him. I have a neighbor that I recommend him to and she went with someone else and now she is having issues. I asked my friend who is a multi millionaire about their experience of having Paul build their house and they had absolutely no problems with him. So far he has replaced a bunch of windows with fabulous powers and really gave me the straight scoop on different aspects of different options. He is really a good communicator and they were installed to perfection and I am really happy with that. He has also redesigned and redone my kitchen island which has a fire place on one side and a counter on the other and so far it has been good. He sub-contracts to have folks do a lot of this and if it isn’t quite right with what the do, he makes sure it gets right. He is good at advising me on aesthetics as we go, which is really handy. We have spent $20,000 or $30,000 so far.
Description of Work: We are using Paul Hucker Smith from Krafted Homes and he is doing a big old remodel.
