Description of Work: I needed to replace my old computer as the Mother Board was no longer working. Jim took it and downloaded everything on it and kindly recommended what to buy. Once I purchased the new computer, he put everything from the old one onto the new one. He installed a Malware anti-virus which is free. Every month he remotely checks and scans my computer to make sure there's nothing harmful in it.

I needed computer service and didn't want to have to take my computer somewhere, and the big name (Geek Squad) was too expensive for me. I found Jim, and what gem I found! Not only did he fix what was needed, I now use him every month just for maintenance. I'm a 60 year old woman and not so good at computer problems. So thankful to have found him! He calls you at a appointment time and fixes and repairs any problem you have right from his home to yours. He will come to you if needed!

I am a freelance writer and my computer is my livelihood. I cannot waste time taking my computer into a shop. For probably eight or nine years Jim has kept my computer in perfect working order on a monthly basis. I really appreciate the affordable price for this monthly service. Thank you, Jim!
Description of Work: I initially used In-Home PC Repairs years ago when I lived in Columbia, SC. I needed someone who would pay a house-call to get my computer working again. I discovered this company and read good reviews, so made an appointment with Jim Wildman. He showed up when he said he would; he fixed the issue my computer was having. His bill was reasonable. In all respects exactly what my computer needed. Since that time I have moved to Arizona and Jim still provides excellent service remotely. Now I have signed up for Jim to perform a monthly check-up on my computer. Whenever I have an issue with my computer, In-Home PC Repairs is my go-to resource.

Description of Work: I've known Jim for about 10 years and he has done regular monthly computer checkups on my home desktop. We connect through 'TeamViewer' and he remotely runs a malware program to make sure I don't have any bugs and also keeps my files cleaned out and running smoothly. Description of Work: I purchased a new laptop computer with Windows 10 along with a program that would transfer info from my old computer to my new one. I soon discovered that I needed help with that. I checked Angie's list and found "In-Home PC Repair Service" which was what I wanted rather than having to drag my two laptops somewhere and leave them. I called Jim Wildman, the owner, and he was able to come the next day. He inserted the program disk and went right to work. He had the technical knowledge to understand the directions provided and began transferring info from the old to the new computer. After about 1and1/2 to 2 hours it was at a point where it was going to take several hours for the data to continuing transfering so he told me what to do when it finished and that he would come back the next day to finalize everything and make sure the new computer was working correctly, which he did.  + -1 moreIn-Home PC Repairs was great. Jim was personable, polite and professional, and was obviously experienced. Having him come to the house was VERY convenient--in the past I have had to unplug the many wires and plugs from my desktop, tote the heavy thing into a shop and then leave it for a week or more. Jim was here for about 2 1/2 hours--you can't rush good computer clean-up and we felt he was very thorough. We were very comfortable having him here and will certainly call Jim again for our future commuter issues.
Description of Work: Jim did general clean-up on both our laptop and our desktop computers, removing a several hundred files of malware, speeding up the systems, and physically removing a ton of dust from our desktop CPU. He also installed a printer port so I can use my old laser printer, and rearranged some of the memory sticks to function better.

 + -1 moreI had taken the computer and monitor to a shop to be fixed. After a week, they decided it needed a new power supply, which was $100. After another week, it was ready and I went to get it. It did the same things as before when I got it home. I asked them if they could come to my house to fix it. They said yes, but it would be about $250. They said they were going to reinstall my printer drivers, etc. I really need my computer right now. I called Jim. He was here within an hour. He cleaned up some things, unplugged and replugged some things, checked for viruses (none) and updated a couple of software programs. The computer is working great and Jim charged less than half what the shop quoted. I am quite sure that the new power supply was not needed. Obviously, the problem had nothing to do with the printer drivers. Jim will be who I call for any future computer needs.
Description of Work: I have been having trouble with my computer. The monitor would not recognize it, it started saying unknown USB devices were trying to be attached when no one was near the computer, and then the printer would not work from the computer. I couldn't back up my files to a flash drive.

 + -1 moreI called Jim the morning the problem occurred. He responded back within one hour and set up an appointment that afternoon. He gave a 15 minute window of when he would arrive and he was right on time. He took a look at the error messages on the screen and went right to work, trying several approaches to fix the problem. He was soon successful and I was back up and running. He was friendly and professional. We discussed several ways to keep my computer optimally running and free of junk in the future. He fixed the problem in under 30 minutes in my home, saving me significant time and inconvenience.
Description of Work: My PC had completely frozen in the boot sector scan, the keyboard was unresponsive and I didn't have my original system disk. Jim was able to get into the computer and get it working again...all in a 35 minute home visit!

 + -1 moreThe provider arrived promptly at the agreed time and worked continuously first on one computer and then the other. Through no fault of his own, some programs could not be downloaded quickly because of the relatively slow internet connection at my house. But he persevered until everything was finished. Both computers were running better and faster after he worked on them. Also, his prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend his services.
Description of Work: The provider (Jim Wildman) did maintenance work on two PC's in my home: a desktop and a laptop. He downloaded some important free antivirus programs, and he changed several existing settings so that other programs would not initiate unnecessarily on start-up. He allowed me to observe what he was doing, and he gave tips on how I could keep the computers running smoothly.
