Handyman Matters and Remodeling Colorado Springs

I had some specifics about what I needed, it was not followed and when I called my concerns the management was totally unresponsive and rude. Never had called a national headquarters but did in this case & although they were nice there was still no attempt to satisfy or work with despite having been a loyal customer before. The employees are fine but the owners are rude and have no problem solving or customer service skills.

I was a bit concerned by a negative review on Angie's List but I took a chance and was delighted. Just Awesome! ** Jeremy (the plumber) was fast and efficient. He fixed both sinks and restarted my pilot light. Love that guy! I will definitely hire again. Thank You!

On 8/19/16 I hired Handyman Matters to put in a bathroom fan. I was told it should take about 2 hours. I purchased the 2 hour special for $199 but was told to have other jobs for the handyman to do just in case he finished early and I did. He arrived early which was fine I was home so he took out the old and put in the new fan in 40 minutes. Then we turned the switch on and the motor was running. Being the naive homeowner that paid the professionals to put in the fan, I thought it would be working. The next day when taking a shower the fan was not taking any exhaust from the bathroom I called them on saturday and left them a voice mail about the fan not working. I did not receive a call back on monday, so I called them back later that day. I was told they would have to charge me $20 for each 1/4 hour they where here. They told me that the ventilation pipe to the outside could be clogged, but even if it was clogged that should have been checked in the hour and 20 minutes that he had left in the 2 hour $199 special. They finally set up an appointment a week out to come over just to check the exhaust pipe to see if it was clogged. As it turned out,the pipe was not clogged.The guy then took out the fan saying it was defective, and then after he took it out he wanted to charge me for that when that should have been tested in the 2 hour $199 special. At this point, he still had 1 hour and 20 minutes and and even after he did a few other projects he left 15 minutes early when I ran out of projects. When the guy told me he was charging me to take out the new fan that he said was defective I had him put it back in. I said I would find a professional to put in a new fan. He reinstalled the fan and at that point we turned on the fan and it seemed to be working fine. So 1 and 1/2 hours later the fan is working and it was not a bad fan from the manufacturer but put in incorrectly the first time. So no I would not recommend this company for any type of work.The so called "customer service" at this company was not helpful at all, and in fact made no effort to make the issue right. Very unprofessional and unwilling to correct an obvious problem. Mary Ann

We had a great experience. Our technician Josh was prompt and very professional. He accomplished all tasks as quickly as the task allowed. In addition, he explained everything he did and did not try to add extra work.

It went very well with both projects being completed. It took a little longer than expected but the backboard was an out of the ordinary project to get done.

Jeremy was great. He was professional and completed the repairs in a timely manner. The owner even came by to introduce herself. We are extremely pleased.

I set up an appointment to have someone come out to look at repairing my deck, which was in rough shape with dry rot. Tom was thorough and knowledgeable. Near the end of the visit he asked if the company mentioned the $50 consultation fee. No one mentioned anything about a fee of any kind to make a bid to do the work. I wouldn't have them come if they had informed me of that since I was getting 2 - 3 bids. The following is a cut and paste from their own website: "Give Handyman Matters a call today to schedule your free project evaluation!" Anyway I refused to pay and they never gave me a bid so it was a waste of time for both of us and I went with someone else to do the work.

It turned out very well. It took a few weeks for him to get hold of us. But, that was okay. It wasn't something that needed to be done immediately. So, it was alright. We were happy with what he did. It cost more. It was an extra $40 for their fee or whatever he said. I was kind of surprised that they had that. Their price was a little high. I was not expecting the additional charges. He was very nice and professional. They could have responded quicker. He did a pretty decent job on the stairs.

He went a little faster than I had hoped. He used the same knob templates in my master bathroom as he did in my kitchen, so I had to go out and get different knobs for my master bathroom than I already had. Other than that he did a good job.

He wanted to charge me $240 to replace our screen door when Lowe's would do the work for only $120. He wanted to charge us a $40 service fee so we decided not to use him. He quoted us $500 to replace our fence and instead only replaced some hardware and charged us $170. The work was good but I wanted a new fence and am disappointed with what we got instead.

It was okay. They could have done a little bit more to take care of my situation and they didn't. I would probably not use them in the future.

They were fine. It ended up going over and so we just didn’t continue with them. They came out and did 4 hours of work. We just cut them off there because the guy was really slow. He was moving like a snail. We had to wait another two hours to let this dry and they wanted to charge us for the two hours. We said that we‘d just finish it ourselves. The guy was nice enough. We didn't pay any extra. I got two of the deal. I bought 4 hours worth of work.

I wasn't there when they did it. I had a key box that they could use to get in. They went and put in toilet seats that were the wrong color. On the brown toilets, they put in white seats. I had to deal with them afterwards. I had wanted them to do more plumbing work but their prices were so much higher than what was reasonable on the market place. They put the toilet seats on but they didn't even tell me when they put them on. I was never aware that it was the wrong color until the tenant moved in and said, "Why are there white toilet seats on the brown toilets"? Unfortunately, I had to do it afterwards. I wasn't happy with the lack of communication with that company. They should have been responsible enough to let me know that the toilet seats they were putting on did not match the toilets. I talked to somebody named Sandy. Some other things that they did weren't very good either. They put in a vanity and they didn't put in the right location. They didn't take responsibility to do the right thing. For the price I paid, I didn't get what I felt I should get.

Service man was using a hand saw to cut pipe. My husband went to our tools to get him a pipe-cutter to use for more correct, precise cut. Service man needed to glue pipe and asked my husband for some glue. Service man stayed 1 hour and my husband asked him to leave. Seems the service man didn't come with appropriate tools for the job when we had specifically stated what was needed prior to sending out service man.

They were absolutely the worst company you could ever deal with. They are liars. They were misleading in their coupon they had on Angie's List, very misleading. So, they kind of stuck us. We called them to install an above ground swimming pool and I ended up talking to 2 different people and didn't know at first that they were related, that they were in the same office. The first person I talked to, she gave me a quote. I said I want to have a quote approximately how long is it going to take and how much money is it going to cost me before I agree to anything. She gave me a quote of $1450 for 2 people for 20 hours of work. By the end of the work the guy had given me a bill for $3600 for 50 hours of work for 3 men. I called back to their office and said, what is going on? She said, we don't give quotes. I said, that's a bunch of bull because not only did you give me a quote but someone else from your office called and gave me a quote who, again I didn't know at the time, was calling from your same office. She said, that's a lie, you're lying. Do you have it recorded? At this point, I said, first of all you sent out a guy who you assured me had done multiple swimming pools because we asked, we asked before we agreed. The guy says to us, I've never put together a swimming pool before in my life. I have no idea what I'm doing. So, they wanted us to pay him to learn how to do the job. This is just absolutely insane. We said no way. We are not going to pay to have your worker learn how to do the job when we asked specifically if he already knew how to do it. We've been fighting with them all this time. We told them we would pay them the agreed upon price, no more. Not only that, but after the fact we discovered two boxes that were hidden behind the pool that weren't installed. Two parts of the swimming pool that weren't installed which means, in order to install those pieces, we have to tear the whole pool down. The pool holds 13,000 gallons of water. Do you know how much water that's going to cost us? We're on a community well and we have to share and pay for the water. We sent them a certified letter stating that we would pay them $1800 and they refused to pick it up at the Post Office. Finally, I got it back in the mail and I'm just not going to send her anything until she can learn to get her head out of her butt and learn how to talk to me the right way. The two pieces is a cushion to go on the bottom to help save the life of the liner so it doesn't get ripped and the other part is a foam wall that goes between the outside part and the metal part to help with freezing in the winter time. This is a $5000 swimming pool. This isn't like a Wal-Mart $100 cheapo. Of course we want the person to know how to do it not just some yahoo that... About a week before they came out they asked us for the name of the pool and the manufacturer and model. We gave them all of that including the website we had bought it from so they could do their research. The guy when he got here he said, where's the instruction manual? Which is fine, I have no problem with asking for the instruction manual. But then he sat on my father-in-laws computer in my backyard and watched this video for 4 hours and wanted to charge us for that at $70/hr. Absolutely insane. We're just furious with them. We attempted to pay them. We wrote a check and sent it to them certified mail and they refused to pick it up. I refuse to go to their place. They can pick it up in the mail like any other normal business does.

The drywall was replaced a bit on the ceiling and mostly in the wall. The process was completed well, but we were then charged for 1/2 hour over the agreed to 2 hours. I don't understand why he had to go outside for that length of time.

The guy arrived on time was very professional and did a excellent job. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The service with them went well. They were on time and got finished in the allotted time that we paid for. They didn't go over. The work that they did held up against all this rain that we've had. It's been poring down rain and nothing's come through, so I'm pretty happy with it.
