Julia showed up on time and was an expert in water composition. Immediately she explained what the blue staining was (not exactly dangerous to drink, but more damaging to your copper pipes - which could eventually lead to thousands in repairs - so it's something to take care of). She recommended a Neutralizing system (they aren't cheap - even if you get it on the internet and install it yourself). She, as advertised, didn't mention companies, but what I needed to remediate the problem. The report was got back was easy enough to understand, but Julia explained what the various levels of chemicals meant and if there were any that fell outside the standards for business drinking water. Anyone on a well probably should have this test done. It was cheap and most importantly, INDEPENDENT from any equipment/filtering systems. Peace of mind and dealing with the blue stain, was worth it.
Description of Work: We live in Black Forest and for years we have had questions about the overall health of our water (well water). It looks clean, no odor, no particles... Every year or so El Paso county requires well owners (or should) to submit to a water test (that basically tests for e-coli). If you have ever submitted to this test, you would see that the county has upwards of 50 to 75 additional tests for your water. Each one costs anywhere from $20 to $200 each. However, if you have ever asked the county for assistance in which tests you should submit to, you would find that 'mums" the word. They make no recommendation and no assistance in telling you which test might be beneficial give a specific area of town. They don't recommend any companies that might help... so basically, people do probably what I did... nothing. There are plenty of businesses that will test your water for free (and they just so happen to have $5,000 worth of filtering equipment that will "protect your family" against the "dangerous levels" of one chemical or another that they will surely find in their report. That's an obvious conflict-of-interest and I don't even waste my time with those companies. However, when I called Groundwater Investigations and spoke with Julia Murphy, the first questions I asked was if she sold or represented filter equipment. Her company does not, in fact, she mentioned that it was a conflict-of-interest and she was a truly independent water analysis company. That was enough for me, I called her out to test our water. She took many samples of our water and sent them out for independent analysis. Testing for all of the typical things you might expect, e-coli, hardness, pH, particles... She doesn't test all of the 50-75 chemicals that the county offers, but rather tests the water against a city-standard for companies that serve water (in any fashion) to the public. You would think that the household water test would be the same standard for a business, but it's not. The business water standard is more comprehensive. Most people are looking for two things from a water test. 1. what's dangerous and what's just a nuisance, and 2. what is the blue staining, is it dangerous and how do I get rid of it.
