Please see previous report. If you do not have the original report, please contact me at 719-520 9750. I submitted a report. I'm quite sure that the contractor was contacted by Angies List because I heard through a friend of the contractor that I was unhappy with his work. The contractor did not contact me. I have read the contractors response and wish to edit my report. I paid extra for the Pella door repair. I asked the contractor how much he wanted to repair the doors and he said $175.00. I gave him an extra $25.00 for a total of $200.00 to repair the doors. He did not repair the door and told me to have Pella do it. The original contract awarded to the contractor was due to my procuring it from my home owners association. The association wanted to use another contractor, but I encouraged them to use Great Spaces.
Description of Work: I have already submitted a report with details. I have not heard from the contractor.

1. The dishwasher was not properly replaced. It was loosely slid under the cabinet and had to be physically moved by me for the door to close. It took several calls to have Darnell come by and inspect the dishwasher placement. His employee made some adjustments and said that it was Green Acres Granite responsibility to replace the dishwasher properly. I asked Darnell to have his subcontractor come and replace the dishwasher properly. He made no calls. I called Green Acres Granite and they said that it was not their responsibility to replace the dishwasher, but they agreed to do it free of charge. It was nicely done by Green Acres Granite. 2. The Pella glass sliding patio doors continued to take great effort to close and not to my satisfaction. Darnell said that they would come back and correct the problem. I needed to make several calls for them to come back and finish the job. When Darnell and his worker tried to do the job properly, they couldn't and said that it was Pella's problem and that I should call Pella and see if they had the appropriate parts and for Pella to come out and make good the job the Darnell was paid to do. This contractor seems to have a pattern that they agree to do certain things and when it doesn't get done they try to pass it off on the subcontractors. They tried to do this with two different subcontractors in this one experience I have had with them. The contract stated in both instances that Great Spaces was the party responsible for the work that was unfinished. The additional work was contracted by the general contractor and paid for by me. They then came out to fix the sliding glass doors and they attempted to make them slide easier, but fixed it temporarily. I tried to get them to come back out and fix this and they told me that I need to contact Pella.

Repair Pella sliding patio doors

Response from GREAT SPACES PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT
Member is one of those customers that I come across every few years that I would not work for again. Now, on to the events of the project… Member, a psychologist, who lives in Colorado Springs. His home is on the lower level of a multi-story condo project built in 1985. A plumbing leak occurred in a unit above his ground floor unit and seeped behind his kitchen wall from above. Member contacted me for an estimate to do all the removal and replacement of cabinets, counter top, sink, D/W, paint, etc. necessary for the mitigation of the water damage. Member told me to send a detailed estimate to his Home Owners Association and that they would decide the appropriate contractor and that they would pay for the work. I sent a detailed proposal to Mr. Bruce Biers, at Bennett Schellenberger Realty, in Colorado Springs. His phone number is 719-471-1703. I was chosen as the contractor to perform the work… (I will send you a copy of the proposal). There is nothing on the proposal about “repairing Pella Doors” I did not even know that he had Pella doors. And if he had asked for that to be done I’m certain the HOA would not have agreed to pay me for that work. Furthermore, you should know that Member has never paid me one cent. Member then said he wanted granite counter top instead of the original tile counter top that was to be replaced. He did not want to pay any extra for the granite. I met him and his girlfriend at Capco Granite showroom and helped him pick out a granite piece that they “really loved.” I had Green Acres Granite fabricate and install the kitchen counter. I have always tried to give a little extra product or service to my customers. So Member got his granite at the expense of my company and the HOA. Pella Doors During the project Member asked if we could take a look at his patio door going from living room to the patio. I looked at it and saw it rubbing against the edge or the hardwood. As a favor I had my carpenter, Rick Wojtowicz, sand the rubbing edge. It helped but did not solve the problem. I told Member that if he sanded more of the hardwood edge or the door it would probably improve the movement more. We didn’t bid the work and Member did not offer to pay for door repair. Some time after the project was complete and I had been paid by Bennett Schellenberger Real Estate, the member contacted me and said “When are you going to come back and finish your job?” I was totally surprised and confused asking “What job?” He then said “The work that Rick was supposed to finish.” I was still confused so I asked Rick if he had told Member that he was going to do extra work for him. Rick said “I have no idea what he is talking about.” So I took Rick with me to Member’s condo and asked Member what he was talking about. Th member said “the Pella sliding door in my bedroom doesn’t work.” We didn’t know he had a Pella door in his bedroom. I told him that I did not bid any door work but since we were there we would take a look at it. As a gesture of good will Rick and I spent an hour and a half removing his 26 year old Pella slider from the frame and checking it out. I found that the bearings in the rollers on the bottom of the door were worn out. I showed him the problem and told him the Pella service tech has those parts in stock and can come out and replace them. I explained that the Pella technician would do a faster and better job because he does it every day. Then… I asked the member if he would like me to contact Pella for him. He said OK. I called the Pella Store and gave the manager the member's contact information and asked if they would contact him to solve his problem. I even told the manager what doors he had. Finally, pertaining to the dishwasher mounting clips. Green Acres Granite epoxied the dishwasher clips that hold the front of the dishwasher to the Granite top. For some reason the clips came loose from the top. I asked the member if he or his girlfriend tried to use the dishwasher before the glue dried. He said no. I then called Green Acres Granite to call Member and re glue the clips. According to Mark at Green Acres Granite, he called Member and left messages twice without a response. The third time Mark called Member agreed to let them in. When the Granite techs went to Member’s condo, Member told them there was “no problem” and sent them away. IN Summary: I did not imply or include Pella Door repairs in my proposal. Member has never paid me for anything. Member is not telling the truth. Member got his new granite paid for by the HOA & Me. Member is trying to get his old Pella door repairs paid for by someone else. Thanks, Clint Darnell, president Great Spaces Property Improvements

I've had disappointing interactions with him. He was unresponsive and doesn't do what he says he will do. They did a job for us a while back, it was like pulling teeth to get it done. Even though they did a good job I think I won't ever call him again because he doesn't respond or return phone calls, it's very disappointing. They did a good job, but the responsiveness is unacceptable.

Clint met with us in early February. We took him through the house and explained our plans. He gave us lots of great ideas for improvements and spent a lot of time with us. Two weeks later he gave us a comprehensive quote for the work. We started the job March 1. Clint and his team were a dream to work with. They are all highly professional and have high standards. Clint was responsive and contacted us immediately whenever he encountered an unforeseen problem. Because of some family commitments we needed to have the house available by memorial day. He worked hard to meet this deadline and achieved it. We have done 4 different renovation projects and he is one of the best we have worked with.
Description of Work: We completely renovated the main living area of our house, including a new kitchen and two new bathrooms. Some walls were relocated, all of the floors replaced (tile, hardwood and carpet) and the walls in all of the rooms were refinished.

It took a while to get the job started and seemed to take longer than it should to complete the work once it started. Communication from contractor was not timely or responsive initially, until I expressed that I was not happy about communication taking so long. There were problems getting the final inspection signed off by Regional Building Dept., between the contractor and the inspector. Previous experience with this particular part of projects leads me to think it was probably due to arrogance on the inspector's part. The price and quality of the project was good. I did have to remind the contractor to finish the debris cleanup after he indicated they were all done.
Description of Work: Rebuilt patio shade structure per current code, tore down old storage shed, added to concrete pad and built new larger shed.

The arbor was done first and is a great interesting design because of the two levels and the "beveled" cut on the end of the wood. The tiled patio wall bench was more of a challenge because of the curve but Clint is very skilled in many different areas and was able to design a comfortable seating area (no pillows required)which brought the patio and fireplace together in an intimate, charming outdoor kitchen.
Description of Work: Clint built a redwood stained arbor (two levels) over our patio, approximately 15'x 12', and also built a tiled curved patio wall bench which seats approximately 12 people.

Job 1: Clint responded in a timely manner and put his crew to work. They worked every day and were very good at cleaning up the area. The work done was excellent...above and beyond our expectations...a real showpiece! Job 2: Clint responded quickly to our need for a quick remodel for my mom-in-law moving in. He was very intuitive as to the type of room we were looking for and assisted with selecting tile, fixtures, etc. We have used him on several jobs (see "general contracting" and "remodeling - sunroom and patio enclosures") and find him to be excellent in his services. His men worked steadily until the job was done and the bathroom has received rave reviews!
Description of Work: Job 1:Clint remodeled a storage closet (6'x 17') into a gun vault. He installed 1/2" steel plate in the exterior wall, updated electrical and duct work, including recessed and focused lighting, put up oak paneling on the walls with matching hardwood floors, installed built-in rifle and pistol racks with great attention to detail, installed an 800 pound vault door, and painted.($28000.) Job 2: Clint remodeled our bathroom: took out the tub, toilet, tiled the floor, walls and counter, installed a glass shower wall and all fixtures, new toilet and painted ceiling and untiled parts of walls.($10000.)

The man does amazing work. He is extremely dependable, honest and thorough. During the process, he used a magnet to assure no nails were in the yard. He also placed a tarp on the yard to catch debris and nails. He offered a very clean and safe work environment. Clint is very creative and fun. All three decks have an up-to-date, stylish look. Unfortunately, I do not recall the price but it was well worth every penny.
Description of Work: I had three decks that were looking rather shabby. The company redid the foundation to assure a good base. They proceeded to design and build three decks with a textured deck material that looks like wood. As it ages, the wood becomes more pronounced. The decks measured 18 x 18 foot for the front deck, 18 x 20 for the back deck and 14 x 14 deck off of the bedroom. All three decks included railings. The decks are very substantial in look and sturdiness with southwestern details. On the front deck, a pergola was built too.
