We sent to Best Buy to buy a new Kitchen Aid dishwasher. It leaked and ruined our kitchen and ruined our living room before. It was under warranty, but the insurance had to pick up the collateral damage and it's still being repaired. Their appliances are pretty well designed, but their quality control was an F. The Geek Squad installed it. Then they came out and messed with it some. We bought new Kitchen Aid appliances throughout. Every Kitchen Aid appliance we bought had something wrong with it. We weren't terribly impressed with how they handled it. I'm still not 100% positive it was the dishwasher that leaked and not how he installed it. It ruined all our hardwood floors. He really didn't know what he was doing. I wouldn't use them again unless it was like installing a stereo or something.

The Geek Squad is a wonderful, caring and helpful organization. They have always gone above and beyond to meet our expectations and this time was no exception. We would highly recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: They brought in our new TV, set it all up, made sure everything worked, made recommendations on how to get even more out of our new purchase, made sure we knew how to use everything, and then they hauled our old TV away. They took their time to insure we were 100% happy before they left.

Had to wait in line for 25 minutes for a simple return. It's not efficient to make customers with simple returns (with a receipt) wait in the same line that handles more difficult transactions like warranty returns/repairs. Visiting a Best Buy store is a very frustrating experience.

Not only did Rick take care of the Samsung we contracted him to, he identified a problem with the 3D on our new flat screen in the living room. This saved us having to return the 65 inch television. He also set up the controls to work more effectively for us. Heck of a nice guy. I would use Geek Squad again for sure if they send out Rick! FYI, loved how Rick put booties on before coming into our house to protect our floors. Nice touch.
Description of Work: Hooked up our Samsung flat screen to our Blu Ray and Comcast. Set all settings for us. After our move everything was unhooked and we could not get it to work right.

I spent $270 on that work. I have a service warranty for 2 computers for 2 years. My laptop runs great now. I like that they seem to be experts in their profession. They addressed the situation and gave me an update on what was going on and asked for permission to continue. They had my laptop fixed in 3 days.
Description of Work: I use the Geek Squad Of Best Buy for computer service. The last time I used them was 3 weeks ago to repair the wi-fi button and when I took it in they found that I had 127 viruses. They cleaned off the viruses and made my laptop run faster.

I was told the work would take 3-5 days. The person who did the in-take told me that they see 5+ of the "security tool" virus I was infected with. I took an entire week! And for the exhorbitant price it certainly wasn't worth it. It was my first time being relatively new to the area and I will never use any Geek Squad again.
Description of Work: Back up of files currently on my laptop plus removal of relatively common by nasty virus.

First off, the lady taking our information was arrogant to say the least and rude on the upper end. Second, when we arrived to pick up our laptop, it took them 20 minutes to find it (which is sad because the area isn't that big - they were very unorganized), but they didn't have the external harddrive we purchased with it. So they gave us a blank external harddrive. Next, we thought we should look at the data before we leave. We fired up the laptop and found the folder called "Old PC Data" but the "data" that was in there wasn't any of the files we actually needed. It appears they backed up program files rather than the "All MS Word docs", "All Excel docs", "All MS Money files", etc. that we specifically wrote down. When I asked them about how they go about collecting "All MS Word docs" for example, I got no answer, basically, they don't seem to have a process for doing this sort of thing. I guess they just go hunting for files and transfer what they can find. (rather than some established process). So, we decided to take the new laptop and leave the old laptop and external harddrive so that they could, for the second time, try and get the documents that we requested. The next day, we show up. The guy assures us that he basically copied over all the files from the old laptop because the hard drive was smaller than the new external hard drive. Makes sense, but I'm leery of their capabilities at this point. So I purchase a little device that allows you to take an old, internal hard-drive and make it plug into your USB so you can use it like an external hard-drive. A good thing I did this too. Not only had they missed 3 important folders for my business, but they were directly below the folders they DID copy over!!!! I'm not sure how you miss that except for plain laziness and indifference. And, they probably figured we wouldn't check their work. They also missed our MS Money backup files (which was about 6 months worth of data we would have to reproduce). I talked to the manager, Manny, and he was about the only thing that saved this experience. He was able to refund my money for the service and embarrassed and ashamed of the Geek Squad's lack of competence in a task that elementary child could perform. Not only this, but during this ordeal, while we took up about 20 minutes at the window, there was a line forming behind us (with growing agitation). There were no less than 6 Geeks in there chatting up each other while these people just stood in line. In this store, you can see and hear exactly what's going on in the back room because it's right there in front of you.
Description of Work: Our HP Pavilion laptop died. Motherboard issue, so it was gone forever. We wanted to save the years of banking and investment data as well as the years of data (MS Word, Excel, etc.). We purchased a new laptop and coupled it with a few services from the Geek Squad. Namely, get all files from the old hard-drive and 1. put them on the new laptop, 2. put a backup on the external hard-drive we also purchased. We left the laptops with them for a week.

I have used them twice and they have been great both time.
Description of Work: My computer was not working properly. I could not take the computer in myself, they sent someone to my home and repaired the computer. Now it works great.
