There were many things that were not done properly. The original request was to reshape the fireplace. That ended up OK but she wanted to add pieces of tile directly in front of the fireplace. It sounded like a good idea so we agreed but halfway into it it looked awful so we asked her to make it the same as it was. She agreed and then charged us extra to restore it even though that was easier than if she had finished what she was doing. She also said she would get a nice piece of old barn wood for the spot for the TV. She showed up with pieces of lumber she had to fit together and it wasn't even close to what she described. There were also spots that she could not get smooth after several requests. We finally gave up and will fix it ourselves. During all this she did put plastic up to try and protect everything from dust but dust got everywhere. They partially cleaned mid-job but not at the end. I was left to clean the whole house. She said she had a cleaning lady we could hire but we feel that clean-up should be part of the job! During the initial meeting Erin made additional recommendations for the rest of the house, which is fine since we want to put the house on the market and we were open to suggestions, but as we found out, she promises more than she can deliver. She is very enthusiastic and has interesting ideas but she wanted to paint the whole house and it didn't need it. We did agree to have the lower room painted but she also suggested we remove the tile in that room and replace it with carpet since we were having problems with it cracking because it wasn't installed properly when the house was built. That was OK but she painted the room during the process of removing the tile and sanding the floor so huge amounts of dust landed everywhere in the house. She washed down the newly painted walls but you can tell where she did this and it still isn't clean. She also could not get the floor sanded smooth enough for the carpet installer. He had to leave the first time he came to install. She sanded more and the second time he came it still wasn't smooth enough so I had to pay him to do what she promised. I asked that she subtract the amount of money he charged from her bill and she did. She hired a handyman to install the baseboard in the room and to install new tile in the bathroom. Erin kept saying she would stain the baseboard to match the other stained wood in the room but it does not match. The quality of the baseboard is questionable since it appears slightly warped in spots. The tile was installed in the bathroom but then it was never sealed. I will end up doing that myself. The bathroom was left completely filthy. I told her I didn't understand how she could leave a workspace filthy so she had the bathroom cleaned. She also forgot to give the handyman all of the bathroom baseboard to install so he had to return the next day. We also had issues on our stairs where the previous owners had put some type of treads that left indentations. Erin assured us she could repair this. All she did was put more stain on the stairs. Erin's specialty is faux painting and we did not have that done. Perhaps she should stick with just that. I have never written a review this long or this negative but it was such a completely frustrating experience for us that I felt it was necessary.
