As you can see from the spread in ratings, some things went well, some not so much. First, the good news: the quality of their work is excellent. My mother’s new deck looks stunning. And the crew doing the work was courteous, polite, friendly, and helpful—they even helped my mother with a few things that had nothing to do with the deck (like mounting some decorations that required climbing a ladder), and did not charge her anything for it. So why the negative rating for professionalism? Because they were completely unreliable as to when they’d actually show up. The job was initiated (first deposit paid) in mid-April, and was promised to be completed by the end of July. It was finally completed in mid-October. That alone speaks for itself. Now I completely understand that things happen with construction projects, especially larger ones. Some of the delays were not their fault (suppliers delivering the wrong items, broken items, or not at all). Some were (ordering the wrong parts). All of this is not the issue. What IS the issue is their complete lack of communication throughout the entire process. Their office manager (Colleen) would promise the crew would show up on a certain day at a certain time. That time came and went—no crew. The next day came and went—no crew. We would call, be given an excuse, and a new day and time. And maybe the crew would show up at the new time, and maybe they wouldn’t. We literally lost count of the number of times they simply didn’t show up, with no prior notification. As I said, I understand things happen. But there’s this newfangled contraption called a “telephone.” You dial a number, and wonder of wonders, you can actually TALK to someone! Not once did they notify us in advance there was an issue with a given appointment. Not once! But it gets worse. When they didn’t call us, we would be forced to call them, to find out what the heck was going on. After a while, Colleen decided she didn’t like to hear our ongoing complaint that we were not being kept in the loop. So she stopped answering the phone when we called. But of course she also didn’t call us, either. This type of behavior by anyone is unprofessional at best, and downright rude at worst. By a contractor being paid tens of thousands of dollars, it is simply unacceptable, and is the sole reason for the negative rating. As I said, their work is excellent. Their workers are competent. But their office staff is beyond abysmal. Bottom line: if time is not a concern with your project, and you don’t mind never knowing from one day to the next if they will show up, I recommend them. The ultimate result will be worth the wait. But if you are facing a deadline, and expect to be notified of anything affecting that deadline, do not believe their promises—and find someone else.

Kevin and his crew are great to work with! We received bids and designs from several contractors. Kevin's design was by far the most detailed and most closely matched our vision. He took the time to take photos and really listen to what we wanted. Kevin has architectural engineering background, and his designs are like no other company. Our new deck looks just like his 3-D rendering! Kevin took care of all the necessary permits and paperwork I needed for the HOA request. Kevin and his crew removed the old decking and arranged to have it hauled away. The dumpster was only in our driveway for two days. They installed a beautiful new deck using Clubhouse Decking. Our design included a staircase and a beautiful antique rail and gate. The attention to detail was great. The stain they used on the posts to match the fascia was perfect. At the end of the project, the site was clean and spotless. All said and done, Decks R Us was great to work with and we made the right choice. I would recommend them to friends and neighbors without hesitation.
Description of Work: Removed existing deck and replaced with new, redesigned deck.

DECKSRUS never responded to emails or follow up calls.
Description of Work: Company was recommend on TimberTech web site. Would caution anyone to investigate as it is very easy to be listed on these sites. Owner of DECKSRUS gave quote, came to site twice. did not return calls or give information needed to continue. We waited over 2 months to get a response. In checking with other deck companies and getting information from a past employee of DESKSRUS, it was a blessing we did not hire this company. Past employee stated jobs get delayed and do not get finished. Owner gives excuses of tragic events and doesn't return to finish job after money has been paid.

Several years ago I was called by (member name removed) to look at her Ecodeck as it was in need of major repair. Turns out the deck needed both structural and cosmetic work. (member name removed) informed me that she had spent all her money on this 3,000 sq.ft. deck and did not have monies to pay for labor at that time I bowed out of doing the work. In 2012 she called me again stating that she had a new 1700 sq. ft. Timbertech deck built w/ a warranty for product but was not sure about labor coverage. I went to Pueblo to talk to her about the deck project to get pictures and information. She showed me where the deck had faded and I explained to her that some specific Timbertech product does fade because it was an older generation product of Timbertech simular to other composite materials in the market place. I did a field survey of exist. deck and in the process (member name removed) expressed that she wanted to change the design in certain areas. I went back to Colorado Springs and about 2 weeks later I had upgraded her deck design w/ new material layout. As time went by I found that the structure needed more work also it was sagging in different areas. I left her property and reestimated the structure cost for materials and labor. I returned to her property only to find out that (member name removed) did not have the funds to pay for labor of the deck. I told her that I could not do the work for no pay, she told me if I talked to the Timbertech reps and send them a material list of the old 3,000 sq. ft. deck than all the left over material I could sell back to Timbertech or use it for other customer jobs. I quoted her about $15,000.00 to replace old timber tech and replace w/ new. She did not have the money, and i told her I could not do the job. She told me because of my portfollio and business ratings that she wanted me to do the job. I was not about to compromise my relationship and reputation of my Company to commit lies and fraud so she could have a free ride and end up hurting my company. All my jobs have been finished and finaled after 17 years+ in business the proof is at Pike Peak Regional Building Dept. I have maintained an A+ w/ the BBB plus I have several refferences of beatiful jobs that I have completed. It's a travesty that anyone can just come onto a site like this and spew such lies and deceit, especially for a person that work was not even performed.

Kevin McGee worked with us several months while we made decisions on what type of deck we were looking to have built. We were especially happy with the computer generated pictures of what our deck would look like. Once we came up with a design, Kevin, gave us a fair price. Kevin, The owner, was on our project pretty much all the time, and he is a craftsman and very, very talented. The entire process took 3 1/2 months and is simply beautiful!.
Description of Work: DecksRus built a complete outdoor living area for me with kitchen, fireplace and hot tub.
