Price would be depending on what they were doing. We were not allowed to have weeds in our subdivision. If you did you would receive a dirty letter. Once they started treating my yard, I never got another letter.

Our yard looks magnificent. Looked good even when our water company enforced 'no watering' for about a month last year. The yard recovered quickly once we could start watering it again.
Description of Work: Provide annual lawn care to include fertilizing, weed control and humates. I have used them to assess tree health as well. Very pleased with their services and all of the staff. We are so confident in their services we are having them do my in-laws yard this year.

Curb Appeal Lawn and Tree Care customer service is outstanding. We have used this company for several years and have been very happy with the appearance of the lawn and recommendations for tree care. In addition, the office staff is very attentive to setting appointments around our schedule and are quick to follow-up when we have questions regarding treatments.

As it always does, very well. In the over 15 years that Curb Appeal has been working with us, not once have we had to question their competence, integrity or professionalism. Consistent and thorough, this team tackles every project and task with pride and passion. Britt and his staff are the single reason we had our own personal Curb Appeal, which led to us receiving several lawn awards in our home in the Springs. We have recently built and moved into a home in Monument and are delighted to be able to sign Curb Appeal on once again. To say we are pleased with their work ethic and attention to detail is an understatement. This team has become an integral and essential part of our yearly home maintenance routine. From my point of view, they cannot be compared to other property care companies in our area. They are most definitely and quite simply, "Number One" in the business.
Description of Work: This was a combined (2) treatment for our newly landscaped property. Vegetation Control for broad leaf and grassy weeds; Tree and Shrub spray for insects and disease. All rock, 4 rock creek beds and areas along hand built stone pathways were fully treated. All trees (maples and spruce and white pine) were sprayed along with treatment of all bushes, ornamental grasses and perennials.

Keep this in mind if you choose to use this service - I was told by them anything above 83 degrees is too hot, that their products degrade at 83 degrees and above, that they can’t spray in the wind, rain or heat, and that their product will damage trees if the temperature is above 83. If they are spraying your trees and it’s 83 degrees or higher, either they were giving me phony excuses to avoid taking responsibility for their scheduling error or they are spraying products they know are ineffective and will damage your trees. Either way is unfavorable to their credibility. I found the owner’s demeanor and that of his unorganized staff to be condescending and arrogant. If I believe their story that wind, rain, and moderate to high temps tie their hands of being able to provide services, then that makes them inferior to all other tree services who can in fact treat trees all throughout the summer (any kind of weather). If your products have strict limitations such as a temperature range or your schedule is such that it will be 3 to 4 weeks before you can provide service, those things should be stated at the time of the estimate, giving the client the opportunity to find alternate options, especially when a large tree might die as a result. If you make a mistake on your schedule and forget someone, just say “I’m sorry” and make an effort to rectify the situation instead of making excuses. Finally, if you run a small local business that thrives on word of mouth, acting as if you actually care about someone and their trees can go a long way. But perhaps they have enough business they don’t have to worry about being professional and compassionate or even courteous. And if that’s the case, then they certainly don’t need whoever is reading this review to call them. They are busy enough - too busy actually - to care. Sequence of events: I noticed one of my mature pines was browning, I contacted Curb Appeal to find out what I needed to do to save it. They promptly came out within one day on 5-27-16 and informed me it was loaded with mites. I asked if it could be saved and was told it was possible, albeit slight, as long as I treated it immediately. They confirmed the same affliction was starting on other pines on my property. I told them I definitely wanted to try to save my big tree so they said to call the office to set it up. I called the next business day on 5-31 to set up a time. They could not give me a day or exact time, only that they would be out within the week to a week and a half at the most. I explained I needed at least a day’s notice so I could confine my barn cat and in addition, my neighbor wanted to be able to keep his dogs inside so they weren’t exposed to any pesticides. The receptionist said the best they could do was to call the day before they were coming to give me warning. All seemed well. On 6-10 when I had not heard anything, I called for a status. My tree was dying fast and others on my property were following suit. They told me they didn’t see my name on the schedule and would call the owner to figure it out. When they called back later in the day, all they said was they would “try” to get out in the next week to week and a half. I asked why it was taking so long and explained my tree was dying fast. I was told it was a busy time of year and it depended on whether they were in my area or not. I asked if they could put me at the top of their priority since my tree was barely hanging on and since I requested their service nearly 2 weeks earlier. They were less than sympathetic and simply said, in an annoyed tone, that it would be 1 to 2 weeks and that was all they were willing to do. I was concerned about the time it might take them to come out so on the 13th, I decided to call other tree service providers to see if I could get someone else out prior to the 2 week time-line Curb Appeal provided. Apparently, one of the other tree service professionals I contacted (Advanced Tree Service) is a friend of theirs and told them I was shopping around and advised them not work with me anymore. The next day on the 14th, I received a voice mail from Curb Appeal stating they were cancelling my appointment on the 20th since I was not happy. First of all, what appointment?? All I knew was it was going to be another 2 weeks. And what happened to - the best they could do was give one day’s notice? In the message they stated they had not come out yet because it had been too hot and the spray degrades above 83 degrees. The girl went on to explain that they were basically doing me a favor because had they come out to spray in the extreme heat, it would have damaged the trees and not worked as intended. (I have the recording if they want to deny that what they said). This was very interesting to me because it was the first I heard anything about high temperatures and more importantly, it had not reached above 80 degrees at my property in the last 2 weeks or to date in 2016. It was beginning to sound like a convenient excuse. I called to get more information, perhaps they were looking at Colorado Springs or another town in the area for their temperatures and not specifically my location which was at a higher elevation that is typically 5 to 10 degrees cooler. When I questioned the temperatures and that we have yet to reach above 80 degrees, the woman insisted she checked her thermometer and the weather for Colorado Springs and Falcon and it was in the 90s. We aren’t in either of those locations. Black Forest is not an accurate indication of our weather. Neither is Colorado Springs, Falcon, Peyton, Monument or Elbert. We are in a rural location independent of those areas. It can be 100 degrees in Falcon and we are 85. It can be raining in Monument and we are in a drought. Then the excuse changed to rainfall. I explained the only rain we got in the last 2 weeks was the snow/sleet we got the day they did the estimate (5-27) and the rain we got the afternoon of the 13th. From there the excuse changed to they schedule when they are in the area and after that didn’t convince me, she changed it again to say my tree was already dead so there was no hurry. At this point the conversation degraded and I was informed she “doesn’t care” what is going with my trees or my property and that she was “done with me.” I’m not saying the excuses she gave are unreasonable or that they aren’t legitimate. I’m saying they did not apply to my property and were only brought up AFTER 2 weeks passed and I questioned the delay. Simply put, the excuses don’t apply. It was a scheduling error on her part and she did not want to accept responsibility for it. I suspected her boss was not aware of her error and it was clear she would not tell him. I asked to talk to him to which she replied he would not call me. First she said he was in Mexico and did not have a phone, but when I questioned how she spoke with him about my property that morning she changed her answer to he did not have cell service and he wouldn’t call me even if he did. I insisted she leave a message and I would expect to hear from him when he returned to the office or I would come to their office to speak with him in person. She said they don’t have an office so I wouldn’t be able to come down and he would not call. Wow. Very professional. As it turns out, the owner did call but only after I contacted Angie’s list to submit my review. I wasn’t met with any interest or empathy but merely a notice that he would not service anyone who made threats. What threats?? He said his receptionist told him I threatened her that they would be sorry if they didn’t come out to service my trees. I told him I did not threaten anyone to which he responded his receptionist does not lie. So is he saying I am lying?? Besides that, why would I want them to do anything on my property after the events that took place not to mention all the defects with their products? No, I just wanted the owner to be aware how his staff treated clients. But apparently he shares the same views on client treatment as his staff. In fact, he condones the lack of compassion and condescension. Again, very professional. I am left several dead trees I will have to pay to have removed and am seeking services through another tree service provider.
Description of Work: Provider was supposed to treat a mite infested dying tree and told me time was of the essence. A scheduling mistake was made on their part and I was forgotten about. When I called to get a status after nearly 2 weeks, I was met with many excuses all of which did not apply to my situation. I am now faced with several dead trees and starting over with another tree service.

Response from Curb Appeal Lawn & Tree Care
We apologize for your negative experience with us. We assure you our protocols are put into place to ensure the protection of our customers property and to comply with the limits and requirements of the products as well as to comply with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Any other companies protocols is their choice and will not affect how we follow requirements put forth by the state and product labels. Our safety measures regarding factors such as temperature, wind and active rain are to protect animals, people and the plants we are hired to care for. 99 percent of all insecticides, fungicides and miticides have a temperature limitation of around 85 degrees plus in order to avoid phototoxicity also known as burn. We limit ourselves to a few degrees below the maximum threshold to avoid any damage and maintain the integrity of our applications. Unfortunately, we cannot predict or control the weather and thus do our best to schedule as far ahead as we can while maintaining some room for high stressed plants, which is why we had called and notified you of a scheduling time for your trees. A difference of 4 days will not result in the demise of any tree and treating an already stressed plant, of any kind, in less than optimum conditions could damage an already declining plant, thus our very careful and thought out treatment protocols. We strive to provide wonderful customer service for all of our valued customers. This is the first negative review we have received in 15 years and we will take any possible measure to ensure this continues. However, we will not tolerate threats to our staff, or property in order to maintain a working relationship with anyone. We reserve the right, as rare as it is, to part ways with a customer when we cannot reach a mutual understanding or compromise and still maintain our integrity and values as a respected company in the community. We look forward continuing the respected relationship with our customers and hope in the future we can work with you and gain your trust once again.

Description of Work: Over seed and fertilize return trips to fertilize are less. The price is based obviously on the amount of lawn they do. However they took the time to talk to us and are always friendly. The products are always listed on the invoice and of high quality and safe. They are always willing to answer questions and locally owned and run. I couldn't be happier with how great the results were.

Want the neighborhood jealous of your lush green lawn and weed free rock beds. Call Britt and forget about it. I tried out his competitors and they just cannot measure up. The first company burned a pinwheel design in my front lawn, second company killed all my flowerbeds spraying for weeds when it was to windy and the third killed my beautiful blue spruce their first time out. I would have never hired another company had my neighbor not suggested him. So glad we called, the guys are polite and speak perfect english. Now I have the best lawn and best of all, I never, ever, ever have to pull weeds. PRICELESS!

I called a couple of landscaping places. Curb Appeal came by promptly and gave me a same day quote for the work. We set up a day roughly a week later for them to come by. They did. It was actually more trouble than they'd initially thought and took an extra half day. Nevertheless the work was done very well, and didn't cost me a penny more. I can happily recommend Curb Appeal and I expect to be calling them back with other work I hope to get done.
