He just left the waste basket and roll out frame outside the sink. He was very unpleasant and did not offer to correct the situation. I would never call this plumber again.

We've used Bob twice before, once for a minor and once for a major job, and were very pleased each time. That's why I'm so surprised that this time, for a pretty minor job, his service was quite poor. He arrived on time and installed the new dishwasher (the old one was leaking). In removing the appliance from its delivery box, he managed to cut a gash across the entire lower front edge of the new dishwasher when he sliced open the box with his utility knife. Then he charged us $200, when the appliance store would only have charged $140. His justification was that he needed to also install a new hose. Checking online, dishwasher hoses run $15-20. We gave the job to Bob because we were pleased with his work in the past, and we reasoned he would not charge significantly more than the store. We are disappointed, and I doubt we will use him again.

Overall, the job went very well. Bob completed the work within the time promised (1 day) and was present when the local building department inspected his work. His installation passed with no issues and the permit was granted. Bob's biggest advantage was his price. I obtained three written proposals for the work from three reputable, well-established contractors, and Bob was by far the cheapest--his price was 1/2 to 2/3 of the other quotes (for labor--naturally, all 3 quotes had the same price for the water heater itself, which all contractors buy from the same supplier here in Colorado Springs). In fact, his price was so low compared to the others I was a little worried the job was more complicated than he thought, especially as he told me he had not installed this particular water heater model before. However, he assured me that he had decades of experience installing similar models, and that the job was not significantly different from what he had done many times before. It turns out he was absolutely correct. The installation of the heater and vent went exactly as planned. Bob was neat, tidy, and efficient. I have only two VERY minor negatives to report: he dripped some PVC tube sealant on some storage boxes--he could have covered those with a drip cloth first--and he was sometimes hard to reach during the 2-week lead-up to the actual job itself. However, those minuses are INSIGNIFICANT compared to the value for money he provided. Plus, he is a genuinely likeable person. I will use him again for any future plumbing needs I have.

Bob Barrett was helpful in planning the renovation of the house by commenting what could and could not be done concerning the plumbing. He arrived at the house when he said he would and completed all of the work in a professional manner. When the city inspector arrived to inspect his work, he was at the house, which many contractors don't do. All of his work passed inspection the first time with no issues or call backs required.
