I had an empty house and was planning to move back in on July 10, 2015 because I had movers coming that day. Wilmer came to the house and gave me an estimate the end of June, and told me the job would be done before my moving date. He told me he had a crew and it would not be a problem. He showed up with no crew, telling me they would be by later. I work full time so I could only check on his progress after 5:00. The work was progressing slowly and I was starting to get nervous. Wilmer asked me to delay the move-in because he needed one more day. I called the movers and was able to move the date to July 11th. When his crew did show up, they mostly stood around. I found out later that they were relatives. On the morning of July 11th, I showed up at 9:30 a.m. with a truckload of furniture and guess what I found! A floor with an uneven stain application and wet floors from the clear coat! There was a large fan in the garage that was not even turned on and Wilmer was no where in sight. I immediately called him to ask what was going on, and he did not answer my calls for a week. The movers turned on the fan and we had to wait for almost an hour for the floor to dry before we could walk on it .. Not the best situation, it should have been completed a few days earlier. After moving in, I noticed a lot of dark spots throughout the flooring and as a result, looked uneven. I even saw some drip spots of stain as well as stain on the floorboards. Very sloppy. I finally got hold of Wilmer who said he would stop by and fix it. He came over at 3:30 on a Sunday and worked for a few hours.....scraping the floor. He was supposed to come over earlier the next Saturday, called to confirm the appointment but never showed up. This scenario repeated itself for the next two weeks. I am done playing this game and now have to hire another contractor to finish the painting and totally re-sand and re-stain the floors! One more thing, he was paid in full, demanded money during the process and I paid because I wanted them to show up. I asked for a certificate of insurance but only got promises. STAY AWAY and save yourself STRESS, AGGRAVATION and an UNFINISHED job.
Description of Work: The provider sanded my hardwood flooring and stained them with a darker color. He was also paid to paint walls, and remove the popcorn ceiling.

I do not even know where to begin. The owner of Artistic Flooring is Wilmer Fernandez, as you can see he rated his own company 5 stars. I initially hired Wilmer and his crew due to Wilmer's persistence. I had large gaps in my prefinished hardwood floors and he assured me that he was the best person for the job. He was confident, which made me feel confident that he would indeed be the best person for the job. The original job was to sand and fill the floors. Wilmer sent his crew over on the first day and they informed me that they would need to remove my hardwood flooring and re-install them so the joints would butt together. This doubled the bid amount. Again I was assured that this must be done, so I verbally agreed. I asked for a new bid to be sent over, but never received it. I went ahead and paid him 50% of the verbally quoted price. I informed Wilmer that I had family coming into town and asked if the floors would be done in time for their arrival, as I did not want my floors torn up while they were here, he assured me I had nothing to worry about and that my floors would be done 1 day before the arrival of my family. Well, my floors were not done in time and the project was put on hold until my family left. We were told that we needed to stay in a hotel so that his crew could finish the project. I agreed. I checked on my home everyday while I was gone, and the crew was never there. I had to literally call the owner multiple times before he sent anyone over, then when they got here they were only able to work a couple of hours because of a noise ordinance. Who shows up to work at 3pm anyway? Especially when I was told they'd be at my home at 8am. After a week of being away from my residence, the project was still not finished. After that, the project went downhill. There were multiple days where Wilmer stated they were going to show up and work, and they just never came. When his crew actually showed up at my house, Wilmer wouldn't be there. I was told it was because he wanted to avoid me. When I asked his crew why they weren't showing up, they informed me that Wilmer had told them I hadn't paid him any money so they were are strike. WHAT?! When I contacted Wilmer about this his demanded more money. I was appalled. I agreed to pay him an additional 25% so he would actually show up to the job. The no-shows did not stop. It was going on over a month and I just wanted my house back. Wilmer demanded another check for the finish for the floors which was included in the bid. He said that he needed the money and it was no longer part of the bid. I just wanted the job to be done so I paid him. Towards the end of the project, Wilmer just wanted out of my project completely and rushed to finish the job.. I now have large ripples and waves on my floor and stain on my stairs and walls. Wilmer claims to be a christian man, but his actions show otherwise. At the end of the day I paid $1,200 more than the original bid, I have a less than acceptable job on my hands, which I now have to pay another company to fix. I would not hire Wilmer or recommend him to anyone. Save your money and hire a real professional.

Response from Artistic Flooring
When I first stopped and looked at what type of job did the homeowner wanted Immediately I told the lady that this was not a good idea. She had a pre-finish Brazilian Cherry installed by another contractor which had relocated because of problems with the homeowner. She was complaining about the gaps on the floor. Right away I told her that the only way to resolve that problem was by removing that flooring and installing a new one. After finding out the cost she said she did not want to remove the flooring but just sand and finish (no stain on the floor) She insisted that we were to started right away, I mention to her that we were pretty busy and I would not be able to be there myself. She insisted for me to get her on schedule. I sent a crew to start sanding the flooring. Before I realized she had agreed with the employees to remove and re-install the same flooring which is something you never do because the structure of the flooring would be ruin. She not only agree for the extra improper work to be done but she gave them a check to get started. I urgently contacted her and her husband making sure that what they had done my company was not in agreement with. 1st of all a homeowner should never do side deals with the employees to try to get a better price cause the company can turn around and say that they will not warranty this work. Which is what I did. This is just an scenario for disaster. 2nd a homeowner should never come to agreement and release a check to the employees without a writing contract. I could already feel what situation I was entering to. As the job progressed of course now we got double or more of work because we were to remove the existing flooring, clean the flooring from debris. ( nails, staplers, glue, and moisture paper.) This was very lengthy work. and it took us over more time than we had estimated. I was so frustrated because as we were putting the boards back in place of course they were not flat and even like they should have been but everything was just a mess as I expected. During the job I was approached by the homeowner and she was so unhappy with our work that she started asking us if we were interested in the painting of the house. So you can have an idea of who this costumer was she told me that another contractor had given her a bid for $2500 to paint the full basement, the main level and the 2nd story upstairs. This was more like a $8,000.00 job. I also came to meet the homeowners sister ..... and the first thing she said was "I hope you prayed enough so you can be ready to deal with my sister" She ask me if I knew of someone that could be interested in cleaning her house. Right away I brought someone over and after she spent maybe like an hour she run out in panic. She told me Wilmer This lady is expecting way too much for the money that she wants to pay. Those cabinets they seemed that they never been clean before and she 's got a total caos, as well as the rest of the house. When the home owner was walking us through to show the areas that she needed painting, I was embarrass, she had to keep on going up ahead of us to each and every room picking personal wear that she had left behind from before. When we got to the master bedroom, She asked us not to go to the end of the room because she had two piles of dirty laundry that look like she hasnt done laundry for at least a month. As a men I am much more clean and organize than this lady and I did not believe her when she told me she had just gotten out of the military. I try to help with the cleaning as we were leaving and that actualy pretty gross. Her husband a hard working military men I exactly don't have a clue on how he deals with avery unstable wife. I had a chance to talk to the cement layers in the back, and the poor Mexicans told me that they were tired of these lady's craziness. These lady changed her mind about 5 times in the middle of the project, This is exactly of how I felt. So as we got closed to staining the job she decided to have a rich dark stain applied on the floor. this item alone makes the original estimate be of no good. Then she continue on changing the floor finish of water base to Traffic Which is the most expensive finish in the market not realizing that each gallon cost $115.00 and I would need a total of 6 gallons. She was so angry at me that I was at all cost avoid me encountering this lady. She was disrespectful with me and my workers. She didnt have the proper laguage to speak to us. She said that she did not speak any spanish and thar was a lie, she is a Cuban born and sher spoke well the language. She would sit there pretending not to understand what the workers were saying when she understood perfect what was been said.

This company pays attention to details. I had two other quotes and the other companies did not want to move furniture and appliances. Art (the owner) and his workers had no problem with moving things out of the way and putting them back. They did a lot of prep work and sealed off rooms and the step area to minimize the dust effect from their sanding. They cleaned up nicely after they were done in terms of dusting and wiping down areas. I totally trusted this group and we are very pleased with the quality of work and professionalism. Art has been doing this work for over 27 years and takes pride in his masterpieces. I am grateful that we found him and proud of the work he did in our house. I would highly recommend this company. My wife was amazed at the transformation of our house after this work was done. She mentioned this work being beautiful. We are more than pleased with this company. Art went above and beyond what we expected. Thank you Artistic Flooring.
Description of Work: We had oak floors installed in our living room, dining room, kitchen and nook area. They even sanded the entry and hallway area as part of the deal to match the new oak floor that they installed.

When first hire we explained the homeowner that we were too busy to try to get his work done. Homeowner insisted that we do the work. We explained that we would do the work after hours and that would be difficult for us to tell him exactly the time that we would show up. As far as we know they were real please with all the work that as they prepared to leave out of town they asked us to do extra work. Something weird that happened after worth is that I, Mr Fernandez owner of the business I got a call from [removed member name] accusing us of stealing items from his house. We have been in bussiness for 27 years in the industry, our company makes a growth income of $100.000.00 a year. We dont need to practice this kind of behaviors with no one in our community.
