The provider double booked me for a job on the day of my move and I told them I needed packing and moving services by their crew. They didn't arrive until nearly 4pm and did such a poor job of boxing, taped over the lids of boxes with no lids, didn't label anything, took things out of boxes and taped over item sin baskets, and one guy just hung out in the truck waiting for them to carry stuff out. A real moving team boxes everything first and then loads everything. Their truck was not big enough and they could not get everything and it got so late we had to leave a ton of stuff and just go to my new house. They unloaded everything in my garage, every box they packed was unlabeled. They stacked boxes upside down, sideways, put heavy fragile items on top of light boxes, you name it. Precious dishes were broken, furniture had dings and cracks in the wood and a glass lamp top broke. Although I signed a ton of waivers of what they would not cover with their insurance, I was not informed a basic glass lamp top was not covered (considered sculptured glass somehow) and I could have easily put it in my car with me if they had explained it was not covered and was not well packed by them along with everything else. They didn't finish until 11pm and I had to have two other male friends come to help them from 6pm-11pm at $10/hr each extra out of my pocket just to try and get more stuff done at a faster pace I have never seen such poor work and lack of ability and knowledge by any moving crew. This is starless moving, not 5 star!
Description of Work: Moved me from one house to the other and was supposed to box and pack everything as well.

Hello, We're sorry to hear about the poor moving experience you had, but we don't have you in our records as having moved with us. Please let us know what the name was on the account and/or registration number to "arpincare@arpin.com" so we can look into this for you. All the best, 5 Star Moving & Storage

Movers showed up on time. Within 2 hour of showing up, my wife was missing some expensive jewelry. She immediately called the office and was told to call the police. A good friend of ours who lives on the same street is an El Paso County Sheriff. My wife called him and they immediately sent a deputy. My wife actually had to leave the movers to head down to our new house to let the Geek Squad in to install TV's, so the movers where at our old house alone waiting for the Sheriff. When the Sheriff arrived; they couldn't find any of the jewelry but it was still gone. One of the moving crew had an outstanding warrant and was arrested by the Sheriff. We don't know if he was the one that took the jewelry and we're aren't accusing him; but we do know we're missing some valuable pieces. Since the jewelry wasn't found, we honestly can't say the movers took it. But, all the pieces were there before the movers showed up. The evidence is only circumstantial. The movers then asked my wife if she wanted them to continue the move, and with trust lost, she asked them to just put the items in the partially loaded van back into the garage and to please leave. The movers where insistent that they be paid the full amount, even for the 1-2 hours spent 'cooperating' with the Sheriff! I don't know about everyone else, but I've never been paid for cooperating!! I (the husband), was out of town on business and called the manager. I had an unproductive conversation with him. I asked for a break on the cost since we didn't get the move accomplished but he charged us the full amount; a little over $800. I was in the military 24 years and have never had or even heard of a worse moving experience; and we were only going about a mile!!!
Description of Work: We contracted with 5 Star Moving & Storage to be moved 1 mile to a our new house in the Glen Eagle neighborhood.

Hi [member name removed], We apologize that your move did not go as smooth as it should have. However, when it comes to the missing jewelry, we have fully cooperated with the police and nothing has been found. We definitely hope that you'll find the misplaced items soon. Also, you mentioned that you were charged extra time for the movers when they cooperated with the police. However, this is not the case and you were also not charged for their transit time back to the warehouse, which is usually a charge. Once again, we're sorry that things didn't go as planned, but we always had the best intentions from beginning to end. Thank you for choosing us and we hope you're now settled into your new home. Sincerely, 5 Star Moving & Storage

What a terrible experience. We hired 5 Star Moving & Storage for our move from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins. Initially, they were great to deal with, but when it came time for the actual move, everything went down hill. Our 2 bedroom 1200 sq foot move (plus garage) was estimated at 3 hours of packing on the first day and 6 hours of move time on the next with 2 people both days. Note that our place was no where near full - to the point where one of the bedrooms only had a very small computer desk. When the packers came, they told us it would most likely take 13 hours for the next day, not the 6 we were estimated (we pay hourly). Additionally, they said it would be very beneficial to add a third mover, which we did. On moving day, they did a pretty good job of quickly loading the truck, until they found out that all of our stuff wouldn't fit on it. They brought too small of a truck to carry everything; a good part of the garage as well as some smaller items from inside the house. The moving crew was unable to get in touch with anyone to mitigate the problem - whether it was sending another truck, renting a trailer, etc. The first business day after the move, I contacted their main office - I have been dealing with a lady named Aubra. She was incredibly rude and defensive; blaming us for the problem by saying we underestimated the amount of stuff we have. Again, remember that one of the bedrooms in a 2 bedroom was essentially empty. She said I had told her we only had 10 boxes worth of stuff, which I would have NEVER said, especially since we were shopping around for 60-80 box moving kits. Aubra called back a few minutes later after talking to the foreman of the move. She told us that he had informed us that we would most likely need another truck or they wouldn't be able to bring all of our stuff. This is simply untrue. We were told about the need for an additional person, which we agreed to pretty quickly. If we had known our stuff wouldn't fit, we would have absolutely tried to find a solution before moving day. I simply will never use this company again, and advise anyone else to shop elsewhere. This has been by far the worst experience I've had moving, and will now have to rent my own trailer or truck to get the rest of my stuff to my new home.

Description of Work: 5 Star Moving picked up our household goods on Monday for a local move to another home in Falcon. I also ordered boxes fropm them (the only reason they got a B on price, their boxes are a bit expensive!). They have been extremely helpful over the phone, and showed up right on time to do the pickup. They were professional and courteous. They were even able to store our things for a few days while we closed on the new house. All in all, a very good esperience, and the move itself very reasonably priced!

I contacted this company for a moving estimate. The one provided was reasonable so I went ahead and reserved a day. Mylissa stated they needed $100.00 "deposit" that was refundable up to 24 hours prior to the date. The next day, I phoned with a question and Mylissa was very short, terse and a bit rude on the phone (but everyone has bad days so I let it slide). As the day went on, however, I saw that my "deposit" had been processed immediately but the moving email still hadn't arrived in my inbox. Much later, I checked again and still no email. The next morning, I called and, again, Mylissa was very aggressive, bossy and rude. That made me decide to cancel the move - well over a week before it was scheduled - and I emailed the company with my cancellation. I received an email back saying refunds to my credit card "normally" take 5-8 business days. After 5 days, I checked my accounts - still no credit for my refund of $100. After 8 days, I checked again - still no credit. It's been over 14 days since I canceled and still no refund. I've had to file a dispute with my bank and still, no word from this company to make good on money they have essentially stolen from me

I did a local move with this company and had a terrilbe experience. The movers were late, they did not properly disassemble my furniture which is why I didnt let them reassemble it. They took FREQUENT breaks. They used absolutely rediculous amounts of bubble wrap and tape to which they charge you $1/ft and $4/roll. The management gave me an estimate which turned out to be half of what the actual cost and time was. Prior to them coming I moved 3 of the 6 rooms myself, literally cutting their work in half and it still took twice longer than estimated. When I went back to the old house to clean I saw they forgot several major items. In addition knowing this was a military move they failed to weigh the truck before and after the move, which is standard practice for any experienced moving company affiliated with the military. I called to inquire about this and was told dont worry they will take care of it. After a week of no response I called and got told its just my problem and if I wanted I could rehire them to come repack my things and then weigh it again. Absolutely rediculous. So now I am not able to get reimbursed for these horrendous charges. Again I was told that's my problem and hung up on. When I called back I repeatedly was hung up on BY THE OWNER and had the police called on me claiming harassment charges. When the police called me before even asking me my side of the story they highly recommended that I file a formal complaint against this unethical company. This isnt the first time. Dont trust their estimate, dont trust their movers (it was 2 of their "first day" just some random kids off the street). Once they get your money you can hang it up. This is not the service I expect to war vertrans just returning from Iraq. The "owner" even refused to let me speak the the initial women who was trying to help me. She stated Im not doing anything for free and I can refuse service to anyone....well I paid for your so-called service. When the packer was on the phone to verify my credit card informatoin the first thing she asked him was how much money in materials did they charge, proceeded by a GREAT JOB! Scammers.
Description of Work: The are a moving company who provided an estimate, packaging services, moving, and unpacking services.

Response from Arpin Van Lines - 5 Star Moving & Storage
Well, there comes a time when owning and managing a business where we get a customer that just cannot be made happy. And with 5 Star Moving being family owned and operated-- this can be very damaging, as we do many referral jobs. Not to mention how terrible it feels to have an unhappy customer. In this customer's particular case, there was only one point of misunderstanding- the weighing of a shipment. As a local mover who does many military relocations locally, I will professionally attest that no local mover weighs a local military shipment. The only time that we would do that would be at customer request. And at that- we have never received that request in 15 years. This customer contacted us almost a week later asking for weight scales that were never requested. When the conversation with the customer went nowhere, he got heated and he began to randomly make things up attempting to coerce us to do a job for free. When we got to the point of knowing that it was going nowhere- we had to let him go from the phone. He then began harassing the office- calling repeatedly and yelling. We at 5 Star Moving have never had to contact the police on a customer, but office staff were concerned for their safety. We would certainly love the opportunity to make things right with this customer. However, based on this review that is filled with everything from slanderous comments, to downright untruths, we feel the best thing at this point is to move forward and keep doing what we do. And that is to do stellar work and do our best to handle problems as they arise. We also welcome direct questions from our possible customers in the future about this situation, as we have never dealt with it in the past, and it is a bit of an unusual situation.
