ACC Home Improvement. Work was performed on my mother's flooded townhome in a timely and professional manner, however, attempts to receive reimbursement for the $6,700 deposit (to begin the work before insurance money came through) failed. Insurance company was too difficult to deal with, according to this company, even though attempts were made. Many attempts were made to contact Terry for an invoice, but we never heard back about whether he was owed money from our insurance company, or if he was paid and just never refunded our money. No invoice was ever procured and the 6,700 dollars was never recovered. Would not recommend!
Description of Work: Living room, kitchen remodel after flood damage.

HORRIBLY - we were hired as a Sub-Contractor at the last minute by Terry Knoke of ACC Home Improvement LLC to dig out a basement window so the homeowners could make a "walk-up-out" entrance to their home. After digging in VERY HARD sandstone for several days, and we encountered an engineering problem with the design and called Knoke to rectify. After discussion with his "engineer" they came up with a plan and we proceeded accordingly, completing the Excavation portion of the job. After receiving our SECOND INVOICE, he decided we had charged too much for the job!!!! Not only has he failed to pay ANYTHING, but he has REFUSED to enter into discussions or even negotiate. He has failed to respond to repeated letters and notices, and has ignored all attempts at resolution. He never showed upon on the job site, despite several attempts and then, by his own admission, the City shut the job down because he hadn't even prepared and submitted an erosion plan for the City to approve!!!VERY POOR PROFESSIONALISM - would NOT recommend using this company for ANY TYPE OF WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He doesn't pay his Subs!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Walk-Up-Out Entrance to Basement
Ours is a sad story—but it is almost unbelievable because it is so far past anyone’s picture of worst possible scenario. Do you remember the movie Pacific Heights? Our kitchen remodel with ACC stretched well over six months, was thousands higher than initially quoted, had profound mistakes and shortcuts, and was full of personal attacks and derision by the owner, Terry “TJ” Knoke. After paying 50% of our project up front, we’d sometimes go weeks without hearing from him. Now we are hearing back from subcontractors that he hasn’t paid them a cent. With every mistake that happened, we thought, “Surely, this is the last one.” Even now, when professionals come into our home, they are still pointing them out. We went months without a stove—because they installed a dryer plug instead of a range plug—and they would not fix it, but instead called around at our appliance company to see who told us it was a water heater plug. Only intervention from Pike’s Peak Regional Building Association could get ACC to change it. Our electrical breakers flip often. We have a doorway obviously out of plumb. Most of our blinds and window hardware were broken. We went for weeks without a vacuum because they broke our central vac—and never paid for it. The otherwise unused garage door that ACC used to get in is broken. Our vent hood sits in the middle of our kitchen with holes in it. And my five-year-old hides when the doorbell rings. The story is much, much longer, but just be aware that this “good guy” with the references to a Carpenter may not be all he’s pretending to be.
