Plumbing
$1,425
heck  for half of  whole amount agreed on. ,4pm. on a Thursday afternoon, I called him to cancel the job before 24 hours passed at 2pm the next day, and he wouldn't ,and never did return any  of my money at all ,blew me off ,when I called him, hung up on me ,telling me he didn't have to talk to me .  I took it small claims court ,took a whole yr. ,judge ruled in my favor, He had an attn. I didn't. They keep putting me off when he was suppose to pay me 900.00 which  I agreed to compromise on ,because his attn. took me aside and told me that  the guy didn't have money ect...sob story...  They were really playing it to the Max... Like this was  done before, and  then the attn. ask if he could restore his business name and I said ok.... Just because I'm a softy or just plain, to nice. So people be careful. This guy knew he could take the money and run with it, And he knew the Law couldn't get him ,only,,, the courts can, But  it cost money  to file all the papers and it involves a lot of time.  It  was my first time doing this, If I could do it all over I wouldn't be so easy going on him. Don't do it alone ,have a spouse or a friend  go with you and  support you, So you don't feel intimidated by the person if he has an attorney.

Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Service
$850
The original estimate was $700, the plumbing was already roughed in and had passed city inspection. He arrived late full of excuses and tried to sell me on some "his guys" to assist in completion of my remodel. He worked a few hours and had to "get a part", 2 hours later he returned with an apprentice that he instructed to mill thru this trash barrel filled with plumbing parts to find a part. He billed me for an hour of this. He adamantly told me that the shower plumbing was roughed in wrong and that I would get sewer gas in my bathroom if I didn't let him move the pipe. That day all he did was move a cold water outlet 6 inches and install a prefabricated sink and cabinet.
He showed up the following day at 8:30 A. M and installed a toilet , the plumbing was already installed. He hooked up the lav faucet and I told him not to proceed with the shower. I wanted to get a second opinion before paying him another $800, which was outrageous! I did get another plumber to check it and they said the rough in plumbing was fine and quoted me less than half his quote to install the new tub and hook up water lines and faucets. At 10:30 I had to leave and he stated he was about finished, yet he said he was there 5 hours. When contfronted and caught in a lie he admitted he had "accidently overcharged me an hour".
He billed me 10 hours for himself and another 10 hours for his apprentice for a total of 20 man hours for hooking up a toilet, moving one water line and connecting the lav faucet! this came to a total of $1380! I found this amount to be extremely exorbitant, since the water lines were previously installed and working( only one needed moved 6 inches). That was almost double the original quote. I think that was very unprofessional to not advise me that it was getting so expensive. He handled himself in an extremely unprofessional manner when confronted about the bill. After being advised that I was going to take advantage of the 10 day grace period to pay him, he repeatedly harassed me by phone and text, even accused me of nonpayment. I responded by writing a certified letter stating an offer to pay the original agreed upon $700. I asked them to stop harassing me and questioning my integrity as I had every intention to pay them. I wanted to negotiate a fair amount.
This whole ordeal has been stressful and aggitating. I caught him in several untruths, causing distrust and I felt cheated.  Finally after threats and stressful  negotiations we agreed upon a final payment of $850, which I paid in full.
