Marcos is poor at communication. I never knew when he was going to show up. I was not home the first time he came out and did measurements for the initial bid. He called me on the phone and I tried to explain what I wanted. When I asked him to wait until I got home he said he was in a hurry. Needless to say when they started the work it was not what I wanted and it resulted in another 1600.00 to get it right. Even after they started the job we never knew when they would be here and what they were going to do. In regards to the retaining wall he built I told him I wanted it back filled for a garden area. At the end of the job it still wasn't back filled and he told me he couldn't do it because his skid loader wouldn't fit in the space between our tree and a ditch. We ended up contacting some other companies and were able to have another skid load operator finish the job. However, the retaining wall Marcos built did not retain. The blocks were installed so loose they moved when back filled. I contacted him with the problem. He came out and looked at it and put all the blame on the other skid load operator and then blamed me for not having him do it. He had already said he couldn't. He told me he would put a bid together on how much it would cost for him to fix it. Not surprising, I never heard back from him. My husband and I spent 2 days fixing the wall ourselves. Many other little things were left unfinished also and I ended up finishing them. The ends of the drip lines were not crimped off so I went to the hardware store to buy the parts and finish that so I could use it. He moved some of our sprinklers when they installed the curbing but they were not buried correctly and had to be readjusted. He had also told me at the time of the bid they were going to add soil ammendments to our dirt to address our alkali problems before they laid the sod. They never did this. When he left the job our 1 inch brass valve that was on the line where he tied in the drip line was gone. WhenI asked him about it he said it was in his truck but it took me several times asking to get it back. I finally confronted him when he was out here in person to look at the wall. Funny he didnt have a clue where it was and ended up giving me another one he rummaged out of the back of his truck. His talk is good at the time of planning but all of his details never make it into his very vague bid contract. Very disappointed and angry. It is obvious to me now that he jacked up the price on us because he was always making comments on how much we could afford and saying we had all kinds of money to spend. How dare he assume he knows anything about our personal life. He was hired to do landscaping not personal finance!
