Top That Roofing

We signed a contract with "Top That Roofing" in July of 2016. The work agreed upon was to include roof, gutter and window replacement as well as some painting as authorized by our insurance company. MOST of our roof was completed in a reasonable time frame, however getting someone to finish the remaining work on the roof involved indescribable bureaucracy and turmoil. Numerous calls and e-mails went totally ignored-- including those eventually directed to the company's CEO! We ultimately contacted the BBB, which we had never before done with any company. Eventually, the roof was completed... or so we thought. When our furnace 'failed' that fall, a contractor discovered that our furnace vent on the roof had been blocked by Top That Roofing installers-- a potentially deadly mistake! Our furnace wouldn't run because it's designed not to in the absence of proper ventilation. None of the other work promised was ever completed or even initiated. They did provide us with an estimate for new windows, but our insurance company justifiably refused to authorize it because the price that "Top That" quoted us was very nearly 2 times higher than what we eventually paid LIFETIME WINDOWS to do the work (GREAT company, by the way!). We eventually cut ties with Top That Roofing and started over. We hired separate contractors to complete the work that they could not, or would not. In hind sight, we realize that our experience was our own fault. We ignored the many warning signs that pointed to the fact that we were being scammed by storm chasers. Consumers beware: do your homework and get AT LEAST 3 estimates from REPUTABLE contractors before you sign anything.
