SKYLIGHT MAGIC

Two manual open skylights in my home were stuck shut and I was unable to open them. I submitted a question through Skylight Magic's website. I received a phone call the next morning and Sol came out shortly after noon to look at the problem. He evaluated the situation and was able to reassemble the mechanisms and repair both and get them working within an hour. The problem was likely caused by shutting them too tightly and starting to strip the key. Sol was amazingly responsive, honest, personable, and professional. He offered great advice and the price was incredibly reasonable. I will most likely use this company again for service and for any new projects.

We originally asked Sol for bids on installing sun tunnels in two rooms of my old (1885) house. When he came onsite to discuss the bid, he suggested an unconventional, and ultimately beautiful additional double-skylight for the living room. The sun tunnels drastically improve the lighting in bedroom and bathroom, as hoped; but the huge, dramatic double-skylight in the living room transforms the entire house. Sol and his crew showed up when they said they would, performed good work, including finding (and fixing) a minor roof-seal issue. They were adaptable when they encountered the inevitable challenges which come with an older home. Sol made a snap-decision to purchase a larger skylight unit than we originally agreed upon, because he believed that it would it would enhance the overall project-- and ate the additional cost. We are pleased with the results, and look forward to doing business with Sol and Skylight Magic in the future.

Sol has been extremely supportive in getting this job done, even though his company didn't do the actual installation and only provided the sun tunnels. It was easy to get materials when I needed them and Sol was always available by phone for questions. If we decide to put skylights or sun tunnels in the original part of our house, we will contact Skylight Magic to do the work.

Skylight Magic was at our house to do the work five days after we faxed the signed estimate to them. They replaced the three skylights with modern glass skylights and completed the work all in one day. We had a very heavy rain a few days later, and nothing leaked. They weren't the low bidder for this job, but we decided to go with them because of their professionalism in giving us their bid as well as their high ratings.

Sol came to the house for the estimate and provided very detailed information on how he would replace the skylights, what our options were, and provided an immediate estimated price. We decided to go with the project. Sol came to do the work in the morning, on time, and he finished that afternoon. He was very cognizant of being careful about our brand new cooktop that sat directly below the skylights. Later that same day, we got a huge fall snowstorm, more than 12 inches. It was the biggest storm of the season (so far!). What a great test. The skylights do not leak neither air nor water. We love them.

Sol answered all my questions and appears very experienced and competent. Installation was done promptly as scheduled and care was taken to use drop cloths under the skylight work area so as to avoid any mess. The job appears to have been professionally done. Quality skylights were installed. I would recommend Skylight Magic.

I phoned Skylight Magic before I had my new roof installed to inquire about how to have a tube skylight included in the project. They said to call back about a week before the roof was to be installed. We discussed by phone what I wanted. They suggested a 14-inch-diameter skylight and told me the approximate price. So I called back at the appropriate time (after the roof job was done); they said they'd do the job 3 days later, to arrive at 10:00 AM. The job was to take about an hour. The installer arrived precisely when he said he would, got right to work, put the tube skylight where I said I wanted it, let me watch and take pictures, cleaned up, and left 45 minutes after he arrived. I am very pleased with the result.

The job was done in the amount of time estimated for slightly less than the original quote. Sol, the owner, kept me informed of the status at every step of the way. They were very flexible when we had to reschedule because of a snowstorm.

I was particularly grateful for their expertise and experience. They carefully and clearly told me all of my options, so that I could make the right decisions. I never felt like I was being "sold" skylights; they were always geared to what was best for my situation. The other company that gave me an estimate sent a person who looked at my living room, told me what I would need, and then waited a week before even sending me the estimate, after I had called several times. Sol, the owner of Skylight Magic, came out to do the estimate personally, and by the time he left I knew what would be involved and what my cost would be. Plus all my questions were answered, and I felt confident about what I was doing. I recommend this company without reservation.

It was a very good experience. The technician knew what he was doing and was very quick and clean. Although it is a bit expensive, it is worth it for the natural light and heat that it brings in.
