I had an absolutely A+ experience using Steve Rechsteiner to remodel our shower and I can't wait to rave about it! From our very first phone call that he answered while he was walking his dogs, to his last drop-in to do a quality-check on the finished state of the shower, Steve gave us that white-glove, red-carpet treatment that you feel like you deserve when you're spending thousands on something (right?!) The impeccable quality of work speaks for itself in the photos, but it's the *customer service* that really makes a difference in my opinion. During the entire process, I felt like I was Steve's most valued customer. I proposed a Thanksgiving deadline that Steve made look like a piece-of-cake for him to handle, even though I know his workers, the plumber Henry (KMG Heating & Plumbing), his glass/measuring guys, and even his two young boys who dropped off the tiles worked hard to get it done in time for Thanksgiving. Steve was also incredibly considerate of my time and space. A wet saw had to be stored in my garage overnight while they were still working on the tiles for the shower. They kept to their word and their schedule, and the saw was only in my garage for one night as promised. Also, all walkways and carpeted areas were covered during the course of the job, so nothing got dirty or stained. Steve's workers Kyle and Daniel were at my house at 7:30 every morning during the job, and I appreciated that they were always right on time. They even went above and beyond more than once by doing things like taking down an old smoke alarm for me and replacing it with another one that I had. Also, they brought some white paint and patched up any areas that maybe got dirty or chipped during the remodel. I really appreciated that they brought their own paint for that, since I didn't have any in my garage. (Wish my window installers did that). And another fun thing, Steve brought over Domino's pizza for Kyle and Daniel one of the days and they got a whole pizza for me and my wife as well! It made me happy to see that Steve takes good care of his employees like that as well. The shower remodel itself took about 4 days, and as you can see from the pictures it turned out absolutely fantastic. The grout work, the niche, the fixtures, the hinge glass door, the new light -- everything turned out perfect. There are no defects of any kind in the workmanship. It really refreshes the whole look of the bathroom, and we're glad we waited a few extra weeks for the custom hinged glass door instead of a stock sliding glass door. There were no surprises in the invoice either when compared to the original estimate. Everything was priced fairly and accurately. We've been using the shower for weeks and everything works properly and drains well. I'm so glad we used Steve for our shower remodel and we already can't wait to use him again for our kitchen counter-top and other remodels in the future!

Seemed very professional and nice on the phone; came out to go over what we wanted done (total two-bathroom renovation) on 4/2. Seemed thorough and organized. Took detailed notes. Said he would contact us with our estimate. 4/14 I reached out via email to check on the status, as we had not heard back. No response. I sent another polite follow up email on 4/18. Finally got reply that he “tried to get your estimate completed before I left on vacation I was unable to do so I can have it completed after the weekend spotty cell service there for my delay in my response.” I responded that we looked forward to speaking with him when he returned. Then heard nothing ever again. Very bummed but I guess in this market the contractor has the consumer over a barrel. We had the money to spend, organized and clear about our vision - but I guess that wasn’t good enough for this company.

We had four companies bid on the project and while Steve's was not the lowest bid, or the most expensive, we were impressed with the thoroughness of the bid and felt that we knew exactly what we were paying for. The project included gutting the master bath, enlarging the shower, free standing tub, new cabinets and vanity, new tile in the shower, and on the floor, heated bathroom floors, new closet doors and new wood floors in the bedroom. The 2 rooms are separated by a double sided fireplace and Steve replaced the tile/slate on both sides. Steve's crew were always on time and worked very hard, with great concern for cleaning up each day after they finished work. Steve was really good at recommending vendors who were helpful to us as we picked out vanity material, tile, etc. Steve was also very mindful of keeping us on budget and if we went over on an item, we were well aware that we had done so and could approve the overage. In the end we actually came in slightly under budget. We had very few delays in the project and it was due to the fact that we picked a vanity granite that was hard to find. We are really excited by the finished bathroom and bath and very glad to be using a room that is 2014 rather than 1985. Maureen and Roger

The completed project so far exceeded our expectations it was unbelievable. We wanted an exterior raised deck with a porch roof. What we got was finished as well as if it had been a living room. All the details and finishing were just spectacular. From the first meeting with Steve, we were impressed with his professional attitude. He listened carefully to what we had in mind and then told us how he could make that happen. He was on the job himself and with a few employees, there were no subcontractors, which we liked. All of the workers were friendly and considerate. And they worked HARD. We were especially impressed with how well they cleaned up every evening, neatly stacking tools and supplies so nothing was in the way or "messy" looking. Steve handled the entire process including getting City approval for the plans and handling all the inspections. Of particular interest was the conversation I had with one of the building inspectors as he was leaving our property. He said, "You have a really good builder there. His work is tight and neat and up to code. Any suggestions I make, he doesn't argue or whine, he just says okay." To get that unsolicited recommendation from an inspector was quite special. All of the materials he used were first quality. Each of the various parts were delivered at just the time they were needed to be used, so there weren't piles of lumber and trusses sitting around for days. The porch is so well connected to the house - matching our original shingles and paint, that you really can't tell that it hasn't been part of the house all along. His estimate was right on, so there were no surprise "cost over-runs". We highly recommend Steve Rechsteiner for any home building project you might have.
Description of Work: Built a 350 square foot covered deck/porch attached to our home. A raised L-shaped deck made of Trex with concrete caissons to support it. With a finished gable roof and interior flat ceiling. Recessed lights and ceiling fan.
