It went well...was more expensive than we'd hoped however the field representative even took a call with a question we had at the closing of this property and spoke directly to the buyer to answer any concerns.

After it was installed, we performed two more tests for radon and both came back at 4, still above the recommended level. When I called SWAT in December, 2012 to schedule a time for them to come out and make recommendations for further mitigation, I was told by their receptionist that a technician would be in touch with me within a week to make an appointment. I also received an email stating the same thing. They never contacted me. I followed up two weeks later, responding to the email they sent (stating someone would be in touch to schedule a meeting) and leaving a message on their phone asking them to call me back. No follow up ever occurred. I attempted to contact them again in February by phone and was able to make an appointment for February 23, 2012 at 9am. They never showed up. At that time, I left a message asking them to call to reschedule. At 2pm that same day, one of their technicians left me a message on my phone stating he was at my house and was sorry he was late - he thought we were meeting at 12pm. At any rate, he was egregiously late for the appointment whether it was at 9am or at 12pm. He also said that someone from their scheduling office would call to reschedule. No one ever called. I tried calling them in March to reschedule. My call was routed to a person who could not schedule an appointment. He put me on hold for about five minutes as I waited for a scheduler. He got back on the phone and said the scheduler would have to call me back. I told him that historically they do not call me back and he "guaranteed" someone would. No one ever did. I am now working with ACE radon to fix the issues. So far, they have been very upstanding and responsive. ACE is the company that told me that the subfloor did not need to be dug out - SWAT could have use the injector pump area and have much better results. I was also told that the fan SWAT used would have been fine if they used the injector pump area for radon mitigation but as it is, it is too small to do the job. I do not recommend using SWAT. They do not stand by their work.
Description of Work: We bought a new home with a radon level of 12 and needed it mitigated. Our realtor forwarded us a coupon from SWAT Environmental. They were reasonably priced and setting up the initial appointment was easy. They were on time to install the system and were done within an hour. The person who put it in decided to not put it in with the injector pump which I later found out to be a mistake.

we were new to colorado and had just purchased a home. estimate was to install a radon mitigation system. installer was professional and did a good job but i was disappointed with the price. It turned out our house already had the piping and vents so all that was necessay was the fan and hookup. He was here only an hour and yet the full price was charged. I would have expected a discount since most of the material cost was not needed. buyer beware

Everything went smoothy and the work was done above and beyond what I expected. I highly recommend the company for its pricing, timeliness, great quality of service, and fine integrity. I have nothing but high regard for them.
Description of Work: Radon mitigation system was installed my 2700 square foot home built in 1976. I checked with a number of companies that had high reviews on Angie's list. This one had the best pricing. I planned to use them to mitigate the radon on a house I was selling. The deal fell through and I cancelled because not every buyer cares about radon. Another buyer did request mitigation. SWAT had retained all my information and was very amenable to rescheduling. Work date was quickly set and to my schedule and satisfaction. Every company had told me that the mitigation needed to go out through an exterior wall. My buyers really wanted the installation in the furnace room which was in the middle of the house. The technician found a way to accommodate their desires and did a great job of venting from the furnace room out the back side of the house. He was very fast and efficient and did excellent work. Buyers are thrilled!! He was very informative and explained everything I might need to know.

During the closing process of a house we bought in rural Colorado, we had a radon level of 20 that was discovered during the home inspection. When I initially called SWAT, the receptionist was extremely helpful over the phone, took detailed notes of what the house looked like and gave me a reasonable quote. However, when I asked about their company guarantee for their work, the answer wasn't exactly clear. I was told that the guarantee was for the integrity of the PVC piping (which lasts forever anyway) and a 4-5 yr guarantee for the mechanical fan. I was under the impression that if the initial system did not get the radon below 4 and the company had to return to the house for further construction, that extra construction would be more money out of my pocket. Because of this, I decided to try and go with another company who did give a guarantee to get the radon level below 4. It was only after the other company fell through that we went back to SWAT. SWAT was actually chosen by the seller of our house and during this process, I was very nervous about the guarantee as described above. The system was installed exactly the way the technician, Brian, had described it, everything was hidden away, no unsightly PVC piping on the exterior of the house, no pipes in living areas etc. And, the installation was a very complex process with multiple levels, large crawl spaces and pesky footers. When the repeat radon test came back at 4.1, SWAT was very responsive. Considering that the closing date was less than a week away at this point and it depended on an appropriate mitigation system installed, Brian was back up at the house within a few days and installed a bigger fan. The best part was, there was no extra charge for this, even though the house is 30 miles from town. While the repeat radon test is currently still pending, I feel confident that it will be below 4, and if it isn't, I am confident that SWAT will stand behind their work. Throughout the whole process, they were easy to get a hold of, clear on the phone, and knowledgeable about their work. The only criticism and reason I am not giving them an "A" rating is due to the initial confusion about the guarantee. If I had been more clear on this, it could have saved me a lot of time and headache from dealing with the other company.

First two installs went badly, not sealed, areas in crawl space not covered, wrong materials used; had it inspected twice. State and boulder radon reps were involved. My levels only went from 5.8 to 4.1 at best Finally the owner (Nate) got involved. Third install was done by Nick and the tech lead. It was not sealed using the right approved sealant.but now everything was sealed and overlapping correctly. Not sealed to wood, back drafting appears to have stopped. Approx reading now dropped to 2-3. fan was vibrating after a few weeks; badly. 4th Install was redone using all correct materials and small pipe extended under slab (3ft). Awaiting final reading but electronic meter reads 1.6 now. Moral of the story; check your install (easy to read up on and find out info from state rep), ensure its sealed and using the correct materials;. it makes a huge difference. I used to trust installers do the right job too, I only found out as this was so obviously not done correctly as areas of the ground were not even covered.
Description of Work: Had a crawl space install for 1300, all of my savings; reading went from 5.8 to 4.1 with readings still over 4 upstairs even in my children's bedrooms. I visually inspected and found the plastic not sealed around the edge and a 4ft x 10ft area just bear earth. I cannot understand how I was getting a pressure reading of 1 with so much open. They came out to reseal, I watched some of it. I have just rechecked and its still not sealed with large areas just open around the edges and not bonded where the plastic joins; just duct tape. So areas are foam sealed but plastic is not stuck. Also a couple of rips about 6-8inches with bad attempt to fill with foam. Plastic is 6mm not cross ply which I have now been informed should be used. I have now contacted bbb and EPA colorado state rep trying to find out how this should be done. Swat has sent me another test and if it goes below 4 they are done. So far it's an extremely poor job. I have bought an electronic tester and so far low readings outside the house as a baseline but still high inside, over 4 upstairs still; swat sells these. Now awaiting a response as to whether the installer is certified and whether he was a licensed electrician. Will add pictures in a day or two.

We shopped around for the best and most competitively priced radon company and I'm confident we found just that in SWAT Environmental. The woman on the phone was quite thorough in analyzing our exact needs and she provided a detailed quote via email within minutes. She provided some add-on options for the system, but I didn't feel as if I was being "up sold". The day of installation things went very smoothly. Brian from SWAT showed up promptly at 8am and answered a variety of questions. We were concerned because our crawl space was not sealed and sealing it was not included in the original bid. After some discussion, we decided to try the basic system first and then we would re-test to see if that did the trick. Brian consulted us on exactly where the pipe and vent would be and he was neat and efficient with his work. His final walk-through with us after installation was perhaps the best part. He made sure we knew exactly how the system works, what to look for in the event of a problem and how to do the re-test. My wife and I felt very comfortable with Brian and with SWAT overall and we would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I called the number and gave rough estimate of the job. A cost estimate was provided for the standard reduction task. The technician arrived as scheduled and completed the work within a few hours. We went for color matching which made the outside pipe look much better against the background of the house. Radon reading went from greater than 9 to less that 2 within a week. A separate monitor I bought has shown the levels to be below 2.4 since installation. Overall, we are very satisfied with the radon reduction system.

This company got back to us right away with a detailed estimate and a friendly and courteous scheduling staff. The installer was professional, knowledgable and on time. The system took longer than expected to install but this was not an issue for us. The system looks great, and I have no complaints about this service. I will recommend them to family and friends. Our radon levels are next to nothing now.

Set up of work appointment was easy after speaking with the sales person. Contractor arrived at appointed time and got right to work. Installation of low-profile radon system was completed in about 4 hours. Contractor was careful and cleaned up after himself both on the floor area where he drilled the hole as well as the ceiling and roof penetrations. They used a thermal scanner to be sure they did not drill thru the radiant heat pipes in the concrete slab. Roof jack was used for roof penetration and all openings were properly sealed. Installation looks neat and clean and noise levels inside the house are almost inaudible. System is guaranteed and company has insurance and workman's comp.

My radon levels prior to mitigation were 4.9 The end result after their work was radon measurements of 2.2 This took several tries, as it is a process. They tried one system, then another, and then a third. Then they applied a plastic barrier to my crawlspace. That did the trick. The employees were punctual and polite. I am very pleased with their work and I can recommend them without hesitation.

Our interaction was all over the phone and they gave us a quote for about $800 to put in the system. We found out upon subsequent inspection that we didn't need it after all. I didn't interact with them all that much, but it seemed like they were quite responsive just to the extent of giving me the quote.

This company was very easy to work with. Ben answered all my questions correctly over the phone (I had done research on the radon issue in Colorado and the many options available to homeowners). The quotation I received was thorough and professional. I needed to change the original appointment and this was very easy. Later that day they called to offer an earlier appointment that had become available and this was even more convenient for me. Nate called a half hour before the scheduled time to say he was enroute. When he arrived, we reviewed everything in detail and he got to work. The cleanup was perfect. Nate was very professional.

Description of Work: Installation of a radon mitigation system in a remodel. I had 1800 sq ft of crawl space to cover. The crew of 2 was on time, courteous, and worked steadily for almost 5 hours. They removed all kinds of construction debris from the crawl space - and there was quite a bit - as part of the negotiated job price. The system consists of piping, lots of plastic and a fan. They will paint the piping that runs up to the roof. I choose the same color as the downspout. The outside fan runs continuously, and is remarkably quiet. I am pleased with the job that this company did.

I called several contractors, including some on the list. Got pricing from $1200 to $1800, with no guarantees if we didn't rip up the carpet to let them check for floor cracks. Air Quality Control sent a written bid, $895, could be there within a couple of days. 2 excellent craftsmen showed up, did the work in about 2 hours, and fixed the problem first time. They include a lifetime, transferable warranty, guaranteeing that levels will stay below 2.9pCi/l(EPA standard). Fine print on the warranty says owner has to pay some of the cost of further mitigation. I was very happy with this work! They guys sang and joked during their labors! The company has been in existence for a while in Michigan, is just starting out in Colorado.
