+ -1 moreI was very impressed with Dixon's service. David (repairman) arrived on time & knew exactly what the problem was. He had the shade back on track in a matter of a short time. He explained the problem to me & I was pleased with the price. Most important, I don't have to buy a new shade.
Description of Work: I have a Kirsch Roller shade that operates with a beaded chain to raise it up/lower it (living room window). I pulled it down too far & couldn't get it back up. Thankfully, the repairman was able to take the shade off the brackets, straighten it and get it back in gear.

My only criticism is that the appointment was for 1:00pm and he came at 9:00 am. This company is in the process of expanding, and the type of work he performed for me, was below the scope of the type of work he would like his company to be doing. I appreciated him doing the work, even though I got the impression he really wished he hadn't done the estimate.
Description of Work: Trim below front window with 1 sheet of fiber cement smooth side out. Trim with 1/2 smooth cedar.

He even locked up the house on his own. I would definitely use this company again. Job 2: Excellent work. Very pleasant and professional. Very, very clean in their work and clean-up.

He listens to the customer. Workers are diligent, work quickly, and don't goof off. Cleaned up after themselves.

+ -1 moreHE GAVE US HIS QUOTE, MY HUSBAND ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION SEVERAL TIMES, AND IT WASN'T CLARIFIED TO OUR SATISFACTION BUT WE HAD USED THEM BEFORE SO WE WENT AHEAD. 30 DAYS PASSED, AND THE DOOR WENT UP $300 IN COST. WE STILL WENT AHEAD AND DID IT. THE DOOR TOOK A LONG TIME TO COME IN, AND THEN IT TOOK THEM A WHILE FOR THEM TO INSTALL IT. THEY ATTACHED THE DOOR AND ALL THE HARDWARE, AND ANOTHER CONTRACTOR CAME BY AND TOLD US IT HADN'T BEEN PRIMED WITH PAINT AND WOULD DETERIORATE REALLY FAST. I WAS UPSET BECAUSE DIXON'S DIDN'T ADVISE US AT ALL ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PRIMING OR PAINTING EVERYTHING. THEY ALSO DIDN'T QUITE MEASURE CORRECTLY AND THE DOORKNOB WAS TOO DEEP TO CLEAR THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE NEW STORM DOOR AND THE MAIN DOOR. IF I CLOSE THE STORM DOOR, THE MAIN DOOR WON'T CLOSE. ONE OF THEM HAS TO BE KEPT AJAR. HE ALSO DIDN'T PUT ANYTHING ON THE DOOR THAT WOULD KEEP IT FROM BEING CAUGHT IN THE WIND.
Description of Work: WE PURCHASED A CUSTOM MADE STORM DOOR FROM THEM AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO INSTALL IT. WE ASKED THEM FOR A QUOTE. DAVID, THE OWNER, CAME OUT AND LOOKED AT THE FRAME THAT WOULD BE USED FOR THE INSTALLATION. WE TALKED IN DEPTH ABOUT WHAT WAS NEEDED. THE DOOR WOULD BE AN OUTWARD SWINGING DOOR, SO WE DISCUSSED HAVING SOME MECHANISM TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM GETTING CAUGHT IN THE WIND AND STRIKING OUR BRICK WALL. THEY HAD TO COME BACK AND TAKE OUT THE DOOR. THEY CAME BACK OUT AND REBUILT THE WOOD FRAME FOR THE DOOR, AND BROUGHT A DOOR CLOSER TO KEEP IT FROM SLAMMING. AFTER REINSTALLING THE DOOR, THE DOOR CLOSER PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM OPENING AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. THE MAN TOLD US THAT HOW IT WORKS AND LEFT IT THAT WAY. WITHIN 24 HOURS, THAT DOOR CLOSER PULLED OUT OF THE WOOD. WE HAD TO TAKE THE DOOR OFF THE HINGES SO IT WOULDN'T SLAM AGAINST THE BRICK. WHEN WE TOLD THEM THIS, THEY NEVER CALLED US BACK. I GOT A LETTER ON MAY 3RD TELLING US WE NEEDED TO PAY.

+ -1 moreHer whole approach to getting money and mine didn't agree. The estimator was very congenial and knowledgeable. The investigative work was good, but the office work was lousy.
Description of Work: I've got a leak, and the man from Dixon said he would need a door frame or a new door, or both. They wanted money up front, and wanted to make out a second contract for the installation.

+ -1 moreWhen I scheduled my work, I told them I was rushed in order to meet a delivery deadline. My work was scheduled for later in the week. That same afternoon I received a call from their helpful office lady stating their repairman had completed his work early and could come by that day if I wished. I said yes. I could not be more satisfied with this handyman. Chris, their repairman, worked at a consistent rate the entire time he was here. He was polite, listened to what I wanted and answered my questions completely. His work was done well and he cleaned everything up when he was finished. While I do not think they are inexpensive, they are not more expensive than other companies. They also did not waste time to add to their bill and did not charge extra for travel, etc. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Pickup repair supplies, repair two large holes in dry wall, replace electrical outlet, install wall shelving supports.
