OUR NEW RECEPTIONIST EXPLAINED TO THE MEMBER THAT OUR ELECTRICAL WORK IS STRICTLY DONE ON AN 1/2 HOURLY BASIS AND WHAT OUR RATES FOR THAT IS. SHE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT IF SHE WOULD LIKE AN ESTIMATE ON BUILDING A CABINET AROUND HER WATER HEATER WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO DO SO AT NO COST. WHEN ASKED IF WE COULD ACCOMPLISH THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE CALL (CHANGING SOME BALLAST'S, STANDARD PROBLEM WITH FLUORESCENT LIGHTS)AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ESTIMATE, THE MEMBER RESPONDED IN A RUDE MANNER STATING THAT IF OUR TECHNICIAN WOULDN'T CALL HER AND DISCUSS THE ELECTRICAL WORK THEN WE WEREN'T THE COMPANY FOR HER. WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT OUR ELECTRICIAN COULD ANSWER HER QUESTIONS WHILE THERE FOR THE ESTIMATE OR SERVICE CALL BUT SHE WAS MAD THAT WE DIDN'T ESTIMATE ELECTRICAL WORK AND WANTED NOTHING FURTHER FROM US. WE MOSTLY HANDLE SERVICE TYPE ELECTRICAL ITEMS (WHICH THIS WAS) AND WE, IN LINE WITH OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPANIES, DON'T OFFER ESTIMATES ON BASIC SERVICE. WE TRY TO LIMIT OUR ESTIMATES TO PROJECTS OVER 1 DAY. ANYTHING LESS (WHICH THIS WAS) IS HANDLED ON A SERVICE BASIS. BECAUSE WE WEREN'T SURE WHAT WOULD COME WITH THE CABINET, WE DID OFFER AN ONSITE ESTIMATE AT NO COST. SHE WAS TOLD HER QUESTIONS COULD BE ANSWERED THEN. AS FOR BEING PROFESSIONAL, I AM THE OFFICE MANAGER AND PART OWNER. I WAS SITTING IN THE ROOM WITH OUR 'NEW SECRETARY' WHEN THIS CALL CAME IN. DESPITE THE MEMBER BEING RUDE, OUR OFFICE REMAINED POLITE & HANDLED HER HOSTILITY WITH KINDNESS AND INTEGRITY.
