I purchased the "$99 for 2 Hours of Licensed, Professional Electrical Labor!". We only had a few items in our house that needed to be fixed, but knew that my boyfriend and I couldn't handle them. I thought this was a great deal so I purchased it. The first time I called Stephen, he rearranged his schedule to fit me in, but due to a family emergency, I had to cancel on him. When I was back in town, I called him and didn't hear from him. I called him again and he answered and set me up for the next day! I'm very happy with the service we received. The work did not fill up the full two hours, but I did not mind since we really didn't have much for him. He did a great job, fixed issues that were long overdue to be fixed, and showed my boyfriend how to fix them in case there was ever another problem like this. I would definitely call him again.

The pull chain on the light in the basement ,(which is unfinished) pulled out of the box and figured it would be better to install a on/off switch. Made an appointment With Hardesty Electric to do the job. Stephen was on time for the appointment and did install the new switch in less than 45 minutes, I also asked him for an estimate to install two lights on a stairway, the time for that was maybe 5 min. Stephen stated it would be an additional $50.00, I asked him if it was for the material which he said it was. I feel that the $59.00 big deal from Angies List for 1 hour of labor plus the $50 bucks for probably 10 ft. of electrical wire. 1 plastic box, 1 on/off switch and switch plate which I could have purchased at Home Depot for less than $10 bucks was very steep. Guess when you want an electrician that carries a masters license that does not give a receipt for the services rendered, (which I didn't ask for but thought it was odd for a licensed company not to do), that's what you have to expect to pay. Live and learn!

We were fortunate enough to secure an Angie's List coupon for this company. We just purchased our first home and needed to update all of the old-fashioned lighting with more modern fixtures. Stephen quickly removed fixtures that were giving us a hard time when trying to remove ourselves. He made the suggestion to not install a ceiling fan with the accompanying remote control as he has experienced the remote breaking and then impacting use of the ceiling fan. We appreciated that insight as we want to install with the most utility possible. Stephen was very kind and spent time consulting with us about other lighting projects we had in mind. I know we will definitely reach out to him when we are ready to move forward with those plans.

Steve came the same day i called to let me know what I needed to do. He let me do the work that I could and then came in a week or so later and did the work that required more expertise. He was able to fix the light switches on the ceiling fan lights. I had tried to install the lights previously without success. The problem was the wiring at the light switch.

He was very knowledgeable in photography. He didn't believe in fluorescent lights, so he had to go out and buy new lights. He came back in two days with it. The lights cost $150 and his labor was very reasonable. He did a very good job and was a good problem solver. He was knowledgeable about what he was doing. He got matching lights for the ones that I already had up there. He didn't clean up after himself. He left the box of pieces and cut wires just scattered on the floor. Otherwise he was very nice. He marked up the price of the light fixtures that he purchased for me. When I called him about that, he said all contractors mark up the price of products that they purchase for customers. He was very rude and hung up on me. I think he also increased the time it took to actually complete the project. I believe he did this to make up for the cost of the coupon I had for him to complete the work. I think that his mark up in time was excessive to cover the cost of the coupon he was using to get the business.

We bought one of Angie's Lists deals (for 2 hours of electrical work). Company did not return phone call for over a week, but was pleasant and punctual once appointment was set. Unfortunately, we didn't have more than one electrical job ready, which only took 45 minutes, and job was adequate, but wires still showed and outside lamp left slightly askew, so overall we're not sure we really received the value that we paid for. Company was professional and honest though.

I bought a Big Deal through Angie's List and at first it was difficult to reach Steve. Initially I got his voicemail, which was a little bit off-putting as the voicemail message was odd & a bit unprofessional. I didn't hear back from Steve for a few days so I emailed him instead and he responded quickly to my email. Once we arranged a time for him to come over, he was a pleasure to work with. He was prompt and did a great job with the lighting installation. I was pleased with his work overall.

I contacted company on the 30th of August. I had not heard from him so on September 2. I contacted Angie’s List. Angie’s List then contacted to provider to follow up with me. He then did try reaching me, unfortunately I missed the call. I called him back within an hour of him leaving a message. He said he could not talk then because he was driving. I then told him I would call him back on the 3rd. I ended up having to contact him twice, still I never heard back. The last time I tried following up with him was on September 6th. To this day I have no heard anything from him other than the 1 time he called and left a message.

AWEFUL! Have filed a police report. Strongly recommended to Angie's List to remove from service provider list. Will also contact BBB.
Description of Work: Ceiling fan: He unneccesarily recommended a new one that only needed a new remote. Bought a balancing kit (and charged me for it) to balance, but didn't use it and fan is unbalanced still. Doorbell: Was supposed to fix a sticky doorbell/intercom system. Recommended, unnecessarily, a new system. Left wires exposed. Took my doorbell cover to try to find replacement and didn't return it. Work left unfinished. When I called this service person to follow-through, he used abusive, threatening language and hung up on me.

He took our money but never showed up. 'Nuff said.
Description of Work: None. On 6/11/11, we purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for 2 hours of electrical work. Shortly thereafter, we scheduled a meeting with Hardesty to discuss the work we wanted done. Hardesty promised to send us an estimate within a week (the work would require more than the 2 hours we had already paid for). Over the next two months, we called repeatedly to get the quote. In addition, we tried to schedule the work that we had paid for. Hardesty has not responded to our repeated calls and texts. We have given up and we will be filing a dispute with our credit card to get our $99 back.

The owner did not have any wall electrical boxes for a wall switch in his truck and had to take time to leave and go to the store to purchase these supplies which are very common and not at all out of the ordinary. I was surprised he did not have supplies. He did not center the fan in the ceiling and in fact made extra holes in the ceiling that he suggested we fill in with toothpaste. I declined. He placed a tan switch cover over the wall electrical switch box that doesn't cover the entire hole he sawed, and he placed a tan cover over it even though all of the covers in our house are white. He stated he only carried tan in his truck. He often seemed confused while working. He made quite a mess and did not bring in a vacuum to clean up. He offered to clean up but I really wanted him to leave so I said I would do it. He was here for two + hours.

I bought the big deal thinking I could get a ceiling fan installed for 2 hours labor. Didn't happen. Missed the first appointment, said he must have gone to the wrong address. When he showed up for the second appointment, he installed the fan, then informed me that there were extra charges. The fan isn't seated right and has a big gap where the installation hole is too big. I will fix it myself. Would not use him again. $250 for a fan install. Home Depot will do it for $129.

Steve arrived on time, checked everything out quickly and professionally, and was friendly and helpful, telling me what to try if these things should happen again.
Description of Work: We had a ceiling fan that wouldn't turn on, and a kitchen outlet that wouldn't work. Unfortunately, by the time Steve arrived, the fan was working again, and he reset the outlet so that it worked OK. I felt silly, but he was very reassuring and professional, and offered to check our circuit box to make sure that it was up-to-date before he left. The $99 price was bacause he had offered a coupon deal through Angie's List, so I had paid for 2 hours of work in advance.

The lights were not working so he repaired that and also some wiring issues that were there. He took the fuse box to the bicker box outside. I did not need the box outside. I did not need more electricity into the house because I have a gas dryer and a gas stove. So there was really no reason for that change. The quality of the work was very good. I will not use him in the future. I put the $2500 box in and there was no need for that when I did not want any more electricity. I did not need that. It was not justified. There was no reason to have that box. I thought that I needed to and they told me that I needed it too but I did not need it. Granted of course it is nice to have, but I don?t think I needed that box. I did not need that extra electricity because I was not going to get an electric dryer. I did not need that for extra antennal. So I believe that I was not given the right information to make a good choice. It sounds like that I have rated him higher than I should have, may be I should have given him a C. But I would expect that if I tell somebody that I don?t need the extra electricity they would understand my wishes would not insist that I have the breaker outside. Then he gave me the safety spill now I don?t buy it. There was no reason to do that. He should have just repaired what was broken and then be done with it. The box was unnecessary. I am sorry I paid $2500 for it. He left the parts all over the backyard and my tenants were just so annoyed. They were angry about all the cigarette buds left all over. I like Steve the electrician but I am pretty angry about getting that box. I know all electricians hate the fuse boxes and love to put this box. But it did not cause a problem before and you don?t need the extra electricity into the house. You don?t need the breaker on the outside. He knew that I would be selling the house very soon and it would be demolished within a year or two. I was mis-lead. I can see in his professional opinion that the fuse box is a bad idea just because who would not want a lot of electricity coming into the house. My tenants were giving a hard time and they were all talking about safety and all that. My husband is so mad at me for doing that. I am so upset about it. There is another thing. There is a hole in ceiling and that was not there before he did the electrical work. And he thinks that the tenants were out there. If you want to get there you need a tall ladder and the tenants don?t have the ladder that tall. The ceilings are high in those old houses. The hole is not all the way through the plaster but it is obvious that somebody stepped outside the rafters and stepped on the ceiling. Unbelievably the tenants have not said that there is a hole in the ceiling. He tells me that the tenants did it. I don?t know whether he even knows what he did. He denied it. I don?t know who did it. The tenants are not complaining about it so I am not fixing it. I don?t want to show it to my tenants because they will ask me to fix it and plasterwork is not cheap. I would rather leave it as it is. It is like a huge crack, like the size of a foot or knee. He says he did not do it. I can?t prove that he did it. If it was not for the tenants I would have taken a breather and I would have thought it through better. The tenant was calling me and saying that the house was not safe and I new landlord person. I inherited these houses and I did not understand how to behave like the landlord. Now I know how to be cool, how not to be nice or they will walk all over you.

Arrived on time and seemed knowledgeable and pleasant. Gave me a estimate of $900 for wiring and installing four outlets from a subpanel in my unfinished basement. $900 seemed high for the amount of work required.
