I had a significant gas leak in my furnace. I called Les and within a few hours he was at my house to determine the source of the leak. He located the problem, ordered the part needed, and returned the next day to perform the repair. I am impressed with his responsiveness the day I called about the problem and the day of the repair he came for the repair at the time scheduled. I also had numerous questions and he was patient and took plenty of time to answer all my questions. I also appreciated that when he located the problem he had me see the issue for myself. I will always use DMC services for all my future heating and cooling needs.

He was efficient, prompt, and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. We appreciated his honesty and his in depth knowledge of HVAC systems. From start to finish, working with Les was a great experience and we would highly recommend him. When our old air conditioner does eventually need replacing, we will definitely use DMC Services!

We needed to replace the furnace/AC in our home. We received several estimates and accepted the one provided by DMC Services. Les Carter provided an honest and reasonable estimate and completed the work. He provided excellent service from the estimate through installation and cleanup. Les was thoroughly professional in his dealings with us and demonstrated a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in completing the installation. His finish work was excellent. He cleaned up his work areas and removed all of the old equipment. He also was thoroughly versed on available rebates and helped us file the necessary paperwork to receive the one our system qualifies for. We are highly satisfied with our new Rheem furnace/AC. We plan to replace our hot water heater in the near future and will definitely return to DMC Services. For furnace/AC needs I highly recommend Les Carter.

Les told me the pros and cons of A/C and swamp coolers since I had never had either. He was very informative and very professional. His suggestion was a swamp cooler since it is cheaper to install as well as run. Les did not want to install a roof top cooler because of clay tiles as he was worried about water possibly leaking through the roof, however, I had a window on the south side that would accommodate a window cooler. I agreed that was a good plan. Les had a swamp cooler transported to Denver from out of state as Denver did not have any window coolers left. The installation was quite easy, it is very well done and the cooler cools the entire house. Les is very much a professional and tells it like it is. The estimate for the cooler and installation was right on with no extra charges. I would call DMC again, in fact, I will have Les clean my furnace in several weeks.. I think the most important about any professional company is to listen to their recommendations, it might not be exactly what you want but they are the professional and know what they are doing. Les certainly knows what he is doing and I would recommend him to anyone at anytime. He's great!
Description of Work: I bought a new house, however, it did not have A/C. I called 3 different companies regarding an estimate on either A/C or a swamp cooler. Les with DMC Services contacted me the next day to set up an appointment for the estimate.. The other 2 companies did not return my phone call.

Les returned my call right away and set up a time to come out to give me an estimate. He gave me several options as far as price and rebate options. The day of the install he was prompt and kept me informed about what he was doing each step of the way. He explained the new thermostat and made sure I didn't have any questions. A couple a days later, he was in the area and stopped by to make sure everything was going well and asked if I had any more questions. He is very professional and very customer serice orietned. I highly recommend Les, He is great!!!!

I have asthma and other allergies that get aggravated in colorado dry climate. I wanted to get a good whole-house humidifier that I could also use during summer when the air is cool but dry. I was told that a steam humidifier is exactly what I was looking for. After reading good reviews for Aprilaire and DMC services, I decided to give them a try. PRICE: I was quoted $1350 for new installation and $30 for removing the old humidifier. The price is on the higher side because it is available for around $700 (without installation) on Amazon.com. I still decided to go with DMC services because of the great reviews on Angieslist. INSTALLATION: The installation went as planned on May 22, 2012. The old humidifier was unhooked. The holes on the air duct were not patched as well as I would have liked, but it was fine. The new humidifier seemed to be working fine (in test mode) right after the installation. SERVICE: Within a couple days after installation I noticed that the humidifier would not switch on even when indoor relative humidity was low < 25% range. More importantly the humidifier got into an error state - red fill light, which means canister needs water but water is not detected. I emailed about these problems on June 03, 2012. Les replied that he could check it on June 8th. He came to my house without calling when I was out running an errand. In my absence he basically reset the humidifier and switched it from auto mode to manual mode. I did not mind as long as it worked as promised. But it did not. The very next day I noticed that it had gotten into another error state - solid green drain light, which means the humidifier is continuously draining. I sent an email about this on June 14th. I did not get a reply back, so I sent a reminder on July 6th. Les replied back with all kinds of lame excuses - it is not designed to work in summer; it has to sense air flow; the furnace fan has to run all the time; you cannot keep switching it on/off; you are putting bugs in the system; blah blah. Some of his excuses were exact opposite of what he told me during installation and what is written in the manual. I am a busy person so I did not want to argue as long as the humidifier started working. Les came on July 12th to reset the humidifier again and show me that everything works (in test mode). He was rude and argumentative. He treated me as if I was an idiot. I just stood there listening to his nonsense. I know whatever he was saying does not make sense because I kind of understand the basic principles on which these electro-mechanical devices are built. I am a software engineer at Google with a PhD in mechanical engineering. Anyways the problems did not end there as expected. The humidifier got into another error state the very next day - red fill light. I sent an email about this problem on July 18th and then a reminder on July 24th. I am still waiting for a response. I have had such a bad experience with this guy that I certainly do not want him in my house again, but at the same time, I do not like to get swindled. UPDATE: DMC Services refused to help me even after complaining about them to local BBB and Attorney General office. In fact they called me a liar and threatened me with a lawsuit (in a response to BBB) for writing this unfavorable review on Angies List. I even contact Aprilaire, the company that manufactures the humidifier. They confirmed that I should not expect to see these problems and offered to help the contractor on the phone to troubleshoot the issue. They also requested DMC services to go back to my house and resolve the issue. But DMC Services refused to do that. Aprilaire advised me to hire another authorized contractor (at my expense). They offered to help the new contractor fix the issue. But before wasting more money I decided to consult the installation manual to check the installation myself. I found two issues: 1. The humidifier is designed to operate with 120, 208, or 240 VAC. It needs to be wired differently for 120 and 240 VAC. Our humidifier was wired in a configuration that is not correct for any of the voltages. For 120V (which we have), a jumper wire needs to be attached between two connection points - L2 and N. This jumper wire was not attached. After I attached the jumper cable, all the circuitry seemed to start working fine. The digital control was sending signal for the humidifier to turn on. The humidifier turned on but soon ran into the second issue. 2. The fill light turned red indicating the humidifier was not getting water. I found that the tube that is supposed to supply water to the humidifier was not attached properly to the inlet valve. After I took out the tube and attached it properly, the humidifier started working fine. And it has been working great for the last 5 days. DMC services may be good at other things but it is obvious that they are clueless when it comes to installing a steam humidifier. Instead of listening to customer complaints they would assume that you are an idiot and call you a liar.

Response from DMC Services
I think that I did good faith by the many visits and responsive attempts to resolve customers issues. I worked with Aprilaire on phone. They have record of my call in to verify install and mis use of unit running with AC. Aprilaire 1-800-334-6011 Ask them yourself about using humidifier with AC running. The customer lied about the use. Unit tested and functioned properly at each visit. Don’t know what he does when I leave his home. I’ve been Aprilaire preferred contractor for almost 10 years and listed on their website with no complaints ever! Customer first called wanting humidifier. Says he doesn’t use AC during Summer. I told him that humidifiers aren’t used with AC only furnaces. Second trip to check unit AC was running with humidifier, which I specifically told him not to do. I emailed back on June 6 from his June 3 email due to the back log of AC service calls and the only person working at my company. He said that he is working from home on Friday and to stop buy anytime. I showed up at 12:00pm like I said he wasn’t there. I tested unit and put in Manual Mode to allow unit to run above 60 degrees like Aprilaire stated to do. Tested unit and left. Come back a third time met with him and stated unit wasn’t to run with AC. He was running AC (just like he said he wasn’t going to do, when asking about getting humidifier from the start. Unit is priced fair. Can’t expect to compare a unit on Amazon to contractor/supplies and labor. Patch was above industry standards, sheet metal patch/screws/ductseal to seal joint. Can’t expect a $300 ductwork replacement for patch. $30 is fair to remove all and patch 3 holes. I worked with Aprilaire they verified my install on phone and confirmed no use with AC.

It went great! I always have trepidation when I have a contractor come to help with a problem. That was a waste of energy in this case. I thought we would be looking at having to replace our AC, and was braced for something in the $3500 range, but Les homed right in on the problem, which turned out to be minor. He was very professional, honest, and knowledgeable. When all was said and done I told him I won't be calling anyone else for my furnace/AC problems in the future, and I definately won't be. I highly recommend Les and DMC services (in fact I have already referred him to a client of mine with furnace issues).

Les very prompt and professional in setting up the initial inspection visit and thoroughly explained his recommendations and estimates. I decided to go with the high efficiency replacement versus the repair of the compressor. The warranty, rebate and efficiency were the big selling points. Les was great at explaining the options and scheduled the install for the next Saturday morning (he had worked previous weekends given the record highs and extreme heat). Les confirmed the Saturday install and started early. He was very thorough, conscientious and explained the proper maintenance while installing the A/C unit. He completed the install within a couple of hours which included taking apart the furnace as the evaporator is below it. My furnace is in the upstairs hallway and he did a great job ensuring everything was protected and cleaned up both inside and out. He did a great job and completed the install in less than two hours. It is great to have the piece of mind that the new system was professionally installed and will be more efficient in the long run. Les completed the Xcel rebate paper work and further explained the A/C operation and invoice while ensuring the A/C unit was up and running to my satisfaction. I highly recommend DMC Services and I will gladly refer Les and his business to family and friends.
Description of Work: Initial service call determined compressor failed. DMC services replaced the A/C unit with a brand new high efficiency Rheem system as I decided to replace with a new air conditioner versus the replacement/repair of the compressor.

After talking with Les, I felt very informed about what I should do, what to expect as far as cost, and he spent a great deal of time answering my questions. I would definitely hire him in the future.
Description of Work: I had Les come out and estimate an air conditioner installation, a furnace humidifier, an air cleaner and possibly a new furnace and attic fan. He spent a long time going through the details with me and answering all my questions. Although I didn't end up hiring Les for this work, I plan on calling him in the future. He was punctual, honest and very informative.

The provider was professional and while he offered suggestions, not pushy at all. We will definitely use this provider again to service our AC and furnace (as well as gas fire places). We appreciated the honesty about our AC (that overall it was working fine and just needed a tune up).Highly recommend!
Description of Work: We called DMC services today after being told by another company that we needed a new air conditioner. He was able to come out this afternoon. It turns out we did NOT need a new air conditioner. It needed a tune up instead which the provider was able to to today. He also fixed our furnace that was missing a piece and moved our thermostat to a better location. We also were given a lot of great tips on how to increase the efficiency of our unit.

Our AC stopped working in the late afternoon of the 9th. I called DMC Services off of Angie's List. On a 100+ degree day, our AC quit working. It was a weekend, so we were concerned that we would be paying a lot to get our AC back or roasting in the heat all weekend. My panicked husband called Les, who called us back. Les asked what was going on with the AC (it wasn't blowing air) and instructed my husband to check the unit, fan, and filter. Turns out all we had to do was change our filter. He explained that by trouble-shooting and trying to solve the problem over the phone we wouldn't have to spend money on an emergency call or a new unit. Thank you so much for your help and for saving us money!

Les was great from start to finish - from the estimate phase to replacement of the A/C unit. I work for a small business and like Les, we depend on referrals. Being a one man shop, his reputation is dependent on each and every job and he did exceeded expectations every step along the way. On the day of the estimate, he called early to explain that he was going to be late due to a simple job turning into much more than expected and wanted to reschedule and that was no problem because I was home for 3 estimates that day. His overall proposal was not the cheapest, but it was in line with others, but he was the only one who offered to do the full HVAC system analysis (measuring windows, counting registers, counting returns, etc.) to determine eligibility for the Xcel rebate. After evaluating all bids and the equipment the proposed, we selected Les because he had a great product, a high quality reputation, and with the $750 Xcel rebate, the $4500 bid comes down to $3750 and that included replacing our whole house humidifier and controller. On the day of the replacement, he was on time, a little early actually, and got right to work. As he got started removing the existing 20 year old Carrier system, he pointed out 2 issues with the initial installation (a freeze stat that had been installed as a patch for a bad install and a partially crimped freon line probably the reason the freeze stat had been installed) that indicated the builder didn't do the work right in the first place and may have the resulted in the frozen cooling coil he showed us when demoing the old system. He also pointed out one return registered on the main floor we had blocked with a couch table and pointed out that the hardwood floor registers we had selected on the main floor blocked about 40% of the supply air compared to standard metal registers. After replacing the old system with a 14.5 SEER Rheem system, and us replacing the floor registers and correcting the blocked return register, our new AC system is cooling the house better now at a higher set point (74F now vs. 70-68F in the past). We couldn't be happier. He also pointed out that the old Aprilaire humidifier was also installed wrong. The initial contractor hooked up the humidifier to the cold water line rather than the hot. He fixed that and also installed a new controller that will monitor the humidity level in the house as well as the temperature and when the temp is fine but the humidity is low, it will run the blower without the furnace to raise the humidity without increasing the temperature. We have also set an appointment with him to come back out in the fall to clean the furnace and verify the new humidifier is performing to specifications. We will be recommending Les to all of our friends and co-workers in the future based on his knowledge, professionalism and price.

I called Les on the hottest day this year (106 in Longmont) and he was backed up for a week, but so was everyone else. He showed up on time, figured out the problem quickly, fixed it, and went on to recommend ways for me to save money, including better, cheaper filters, a new thermostat and unblocking air returns. Extremely down-to-earth and straightforward. I would recommend DMC immediately to anyone.

During the recent heat wave, we noticed the A/C in our house wasn't cooling as it normally did. We've had some trouble with the A/C in the past so we were worried that something major was wrong. Les was able to come out within 48 hours of our first call. He gave an approximate time of his arrival and then called to let us know he was on his way. After inspecting the unit, he recommended we change the filter more regularly as the basement gets pretty dusty (and also that we use a better quality filter since we do have so much dust). Les also checked the outside unit and recommended that we clean the coils on the outside unit. He checked the freon levels and determined that a recharge wasn't necessary. He only charged us for his normal service call charge. Thanks to Les we are now feeling much more comfortable in the house!!

Though the repair was relatively minor compared to what it could have been, he handled it quickly and got me running in no time at all. He was very professional, courteous, and friendly. He didn't try to sell me anything extra, even after I asked him if there were ways I could improve my system. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Description of Work: My outdoor AC compressor stopped running on June 24. I called DMC Services, Les Carter, at 9am on June 25. He told me he had another service call that morning, but would be available around noon. (I told him that was a week sooner than my original installer could get to me.) At 11:55am, he called and said he was 20 minutes out. He arrived at 12:15, checked all of the components and determined the unit was not getting power. He checked the fuses and found that they were defective and needed replacing. He did that, re-leveled my compressor unit, checked my coolant levels, advised me on ways to get better air flow, and was done in 30 minutes.

I called Les on Monday 6/18 when I discovered the air condictioner was not working on the hottest day of the year. He was understandably very busy so was not able to come out that day, but he took the time to schedule the service for the soonest available, Wednesday 6/20. He called to confirm the appointment on Tuesday and gave me a time frame within 1/2 hour of when he would be there and also called when he was on the way over on Wednesday morning. He checked the entire system. The air conditioner required a minor repair. He also changed furnace filters and left two filters behind for me to have for next month. He was efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. I have already scheduled him to return to complete the routine service and cleaning for both of the these units.

Les showed up on time and diagnosed my problem very quickly. He replaced a burned out fan motor and was in and out in 1 hour.
Description of Work: Les was great. He was on time and quickly diagnosed my problem. He had an additional fan motor in his work truck and literally ws in and out of my home in 1 hour. I would gladly recommend him again to anyone. LesThanks Les

Very good experience. He is very knowledgeable and thorough in identifying the problem. I would recommend him and will be using him again to install the ceiling fan.
Description of Work: I have a tri-level home and the central air conditioner does not work in the bedrooms on the upper level. Les checked the vents, the coil on the heater, the filter, and the air conditioner. He added freon to the air conditioner. It was decided that because of the design of the duct work in this older home (built 1974) that a ceiling fan would help to cool the bedrooms. It also should save on the air conditioning cost.

Our AC was only putting out mildly cool air. I called Les at about 8:30 AM on May 29th. He was at our house shortly after noon that same day. The AC unit was low on refrigerant. Les added the needed amount and inspected the unit, explaining what he was doing as he did it. Our AC now works great again. Repaired at what I consider a fair price. Excellent service, I highly recommend.
Description of Work: AC refrigerant was low. 3lbs. of R22 added and unit inspected.
