Fantastic experience! We had a plumbing emergency and used Angie's List for the first time to find a service. Not only did the technician arrive exactly on time, he was very friendly and quick. He explained everything as he was working and gave us options as well as price estimations on the spot. We took his advice, had our work completed, and paid far less than we had planned. We will absolutely use Afford-a-Rooter in the future!

Well, my faith in humanity is restored thanks to these guys. My Mom who is 92 years old and legally blind had a plug in her sewer line and after several tries by friends, were unable to solve the problem. In the meantime, my Mom became very ill and ended up in the ICU at the hospital so I was on the verge of cratering trying to juggle so many problems at once. Trevor came over and assessed the situation, we decided he would return the next day when we let him know what a good time would be. I called Trevor from the hospital and told him my brother would meet him at Mom's house at a certain time. Trevor sent "AJ" to work on the line and as my brother said, "That guy worked his ----- off" to get the line unclogged. He finally succeeded, scoped out the entire line, and everything is working fine at this point. We were not over charged in the least, and even got the senior discount applied. My thanks to Trevor and AJ for all their patience and dilligence in solving this problem while I was in a world of panic on all sides. I would recommend this company to anyone at any time and will certainly use them again myself, as will my family. Thanks again!!

I called around noon and they said they would be there but there was one other job ahead of me. Well, they arrived quickly just the same. AJ did the work. He was very courteous, clean and professional. I had taken apart the drain under my laundry sink because the clog had caused water to back up into the sink and I wanted to drain the standing water. Without asking, AJ put that all back together for me. All that, and I got a discount too for mentioning that I found them via Angie's list. I've used the big name companies before and their service can't hold a candle to what Afford-A-Rooter did for me. I'll definitely use them again.

This is the first time that we have written a review on Angie's list and the second time we have used in the list. AJ showed up when he was scheduled and I was charge exactly what was represented with the Angie's list ad. As a builder I had a good idea of what needed to be done and AJ was very thorough and professional and fixing the problem and listening to what I have to say. He even took the time to make sure that the area where he was working was clean before he left. I can't even get my regular plumber to do that! I would definitely recommend afford a rooter and will certainly use them again if necessary? Hopefully not!

Jeff was very professional and easy to work with. He tried very hard to unclog our drain but determined it was all the way under our basement floor. He said he would have to come back the next day to jack-hammer the floor and replace the piping. Fortunately, I thought about getting a second opinion, especially since Jeff did not use a scope or locator. The other company came and was going to try snaking through a roof vent. They had me fill up my sink to create water pressure and that pressure ended up clearing the clog. It was a good experience except for the fact that we almost paid $1,200 and the hassle of having our basement floor torn up. I don't know if it was a fluke or what.

The work I originally called them about was a clogged drain, they did a camera inspection and found the pipes under the concrete floor of my basement were corroded away. We agreed on breaking away the concrete and replacing the bad pipes. The contract price was $1500.00 witch included about 10 feet of pipe. | The appointment was set for 9AM . About 1 PM I called to see where they were at and was told they had another job and would have to come the next day. I lost a whole day of work waiting for them. | Before their arrival, I put carpet protecting plastic on my carpet from the front door, down the stairs to the work area. |The plumber sent out to do the work dug up the floor and found that it would be more pipe and concrete breaking to do the job right. We agreed on another $350.00 to finish the work. | He proceeded to break up the floor with a jackhammer, none of my possessions were protected from the dust or dirt. | During the work I offered them drinks from the refrigerator in my garage, instead of walking on the plastic to the front door and then to my garage he walked across my carpet, through my kitchen with his dirty work boots. ( We do not allow shoes in our home) | My basement floor and all items nearby were covered in dirt and dust. | The drains do work, the concrete patching is acceptable, I just wish they could have been more punctual or at least called. A little respect for my time, home and possessions would have been nice. |

Called in the morning about a leaking toilet shut off valve, got an appointment for late afternoon. James was amazing. Not only fixed the leaking valve, but showed me how to do it next time. Moreover, when I showed him how poorly the toilet was flushing, he went to work scraping some scaly buildup off the jet holes, and now it works perfectly. I had it in mind to replace the toilet, but it works so well now that I think I can save that money. James was knowledgeable, professional, and obviously cares a great deal about his customers and his craft. I doubt I will ever use anyone else for any plumbing-related issue.

We called because after several attempts at plunging and using a "snake" we could not unplug one of our toilets. We were scheduled promptly. AJ arrived as scheduled and was very personable and professional. They proceeded to remove the toilet in order to professional clean out the drain. They were able to unplug the drain, but had some difficulty getting the snake through some areas, so asked if I wanted a camera (video) to see what the issues was, it turns out that we have four 90 degree turns in our pipes before they ever leave the house, which is where items get clogged up. AJ suggested 1 ply toilet paper to help with those issues, but stated that because of the way the pipes were laid, we are likely to have further issues (I have already replaced toilets). Bottom line our issues are due to poor planning by the builder-- I would definitely use Afford-A-Rooter in the future. I felt they were honest, (informed me what they were doing the entire time), reasonable, and professional. The area was also cleaned up afterwards, and I have a CD with the pipe video on it.

Things went very well. The plumbing under our sink was not standard due to some previous home owner plumbing work done when a new counter top was installed a few years ago. This complicated the choice of tools and approach to how to get the drain unclogged. The plumber, James, was professional and worked with us to come up with two different approaches both of which were well thought out. The first approach was to use a smaller rooter and go through the existing glued on P-Trap. If James couldn't get to the clog that way he would do some plumbing work to avoid the existing P-Trap a use a bigger rooter which cold not be used through the plastic p-trap. Fortunately the first approach worked, but even if it had not, I am sure that the second approach would have solved the problem with minimal cost and effort. Overall, I was really impressed by how James approached the problem. His goal was to solve the problem the most efficient and effective way possible. This stands in stark contrast to the first plumber who reviewed the same problem and told us it would be $575 for him to re-plumb the under sink drain before he could even begin to work on the clog! When asked how long the $575 effort would take, the reply was "about an hour". Since I know the parts required were less than $10 that seems like an extremely high hourly rate. After James was finished I gave his boss Trevor a call to let him know what great job James had done. Trevor and I talked briefly and I was impressed by the fact that he seemed to express the same approach to solving problems. That is figure out the real source of the problem and then build a plan to address it as effectively and efficiently as possible. I then found out that Trevor was the owner of the business so I assume that this the approach all his plumber take. I would highly recommend Afford-A-Rooter ,

My parents, who live with us, looked through the Angie's List magazine, and found Afford-A-Rooter. They called up and got a quote for $99 and the company said they could have someone out in an hour. A technician named James arrived. I work nights, so my parents were kind enough to handle things while I was sleeping. They said James was very professional, punctual, and courteous. After attempting to snake the drain, he had to try something else. He used a different machine, and finally got the stubborn clog free. He inspected everything thoroughly, checked the pipes running into the kitchen and out of the kitchen. He noted that the glue had come loose on the pipe attached to the garbage disposal and replaced it with a part that would allow us to remove it more easily in the future. He asked how we found their service, and when we mentioned Angie's List, he mentioned the additional 10% offer on drain cleanings. We knew about it, but didn't realize it was available in addition to the $99 dollar drain clean price. Great value for great service. The technician was courteous, honest, and professional. Would highly recommend.

The process was almost painless.? I was provided with two invoices to address the issue.? The break in the sewer line at the city's line was billed as one item and completed on the date of purchase so the original home owner was responsible for the payment from the sale proceeds.? He also suggested that I run a PVC pipe inside the original line from the house to the junction which allowed for access to the sewer line from the outside (rather than inside the house) and addressed the increasing tree root problem.? This was billed separately as my expense but completed at the same time.? I went to the closing on my new home while the sewer line was being repaired.? Everything was done before I arrived at the house after the closing.? I would recommend Afford A Rooter to anyone.? I had to replace a sewer line at the previous address which cost me more than $18,000 and still never worked right using a different company (who is now out of business).
Description of Work: In the process of buying this home, we had a sewer line video done. The sewer line was cracked at the junction with the city line. He reviewed the options with me, showed me the video, and worked closely with me to have the problem resolved in conjunction with the purchase of the home.

Great experience from start to finish. Our sewer line has been a problem since we moved in to our 46 year old home 8 years ago. We had a few bids that seemed high from other companies and I felt all my questions where not answered. Then I called Afford-A-Rooter and Trevor, the owner, answered. I explained what I was thinking of having done and he gave me a quote over the phone, which no other company I had called would even consider doing. The cost quoted over the phone was $6800. Trevor than came out that afternoon. The first thing Trevor did was show us his license and plumbers certification. We talked a bit and decided to scope the entire line which- Trevor made a copy for me to keep. Trevor answered every question and spent over an hour doing so. I was very impressed, and not only that, he gave me a new firm bid which was $100 less. We set a date and Trevor had all the permits pulled and his crew showed up at 9:00 am. Trevor told me this Pipe Busting was something I might want to see in action . The crew allowed me to observe and explained things as they went along. Trevor was at our house for 90% of the time, while this was all happening. The crew was amazing, they handled the backhoe with precision- they even maneuvered around a 3 inch gas line. The team work in perfect unison. By 1:10 that day, the job was nearly done with running water again. The holes were filled and the two new clean outs which are required by the state where added to the new line. The crew even brought sod to put around the clean outs. Our neighbors stopped in to see the process and were just as surprised at the quality job. The only telling sign something was done was the new pavement in the road. I had asked Trevor if he could run another scope to see the job from the inside of the new pipe, he was more than willing and made another DVD of the new work for us. We would recommend Trevor and Afford-A-Rooter to anyone that is thinking of having such a huge job completed. I feel it was money well spent and am so glad we went with his company. We have some inside work that needs to be done and will be calling Trevor again. Thank you.

Trevor only did rotor-rootering, and I was worried that I would need more work done then he would be able to do. He was kind of short with me, and said if we would call him back he would set up an appointment. Not as professional as I thought he would be, and not very flexible about working with my schedule.
