A Brighter Glow

They charge 1020% up charge for parts. Replaced a thermocouple ($10 for me to get on Amazon) and they charge $120. They say that is just for the part and not including labor as the $185 service fee includes the labor. They say I would of only paid the service fee and maybe a small labor fee in addition if I had supplied the part. Also I was charged $185 for the service fee still though the tech said you guys already cleaned this and it looks good. Communication is terrible, you always have to leave a voicemail and cannot get anyone on the phone directly. I would not recommend and if you do regardless of my post at least do yourself a favor and buy the parts you think you need a head of time.

They did just an OK job and too expensive. They over charge.

I was given a two-hour window when someone would come out. Darrell called a few minutes before arriving at my house to let me know he was on his way; he arrived during the two-hour window. He fixed the problem on my fireplace and did a thorough cleaning and service. My fireplace glass isn't fogged up anymore! It looks so much better. He showed me how to work the fan, which had never worked but now does. Darrell is very friendly. I would definitely hire him again!

I made an appointment with the receptionist, Donna, who was very pleasant to talk to and helpful in setting up the appointment. I received a appointment confirmation phone call the day before my scheduled appointment. The next day Darrell, the owner, arrived within the 2-hour appointment window. He was pleasant, professional, and gave me additional information on caring for my fireplace in the future. I would recommend A Brighter Glow for your fireplace needs.

Appointment set for between 10 am and noon today 9-15-16. Darrell arrived promptly at 10 am; I showed him what was going on, he said it was the circuit board likely burned out - they last 12 years - this one had gone over 20, pretty good. Anyway, he had one in the truck, brought it in, replaced it and YAY - fireplace working perfectly. He checked the vent outside to make sure no issues there as well. Darrell is friendly, personable and we had a great conversation about organic farms and more while he was working. He is the essence of true service - like it used to be before everyone got so busy that they didn't have the time of day for you. If I could give AAA, or A++, that's what he deserves. If you've got fireplace issues, you'll be glad you called him.

The overall work was great, but his trip charge was a little on the high side.

I actually started by inquiring at "a SAFE HOME Gas Fireplace Service" because they have so many excellent reports. However, that company does not work as far north as Niwot. However, they referred me to A Brighter Glow, so I called them. The office person was very helpful, and was able to answer my questions knowledgeably. We scheduled the visit for between 2 and 4 PM on 10/3. About 11AM, Daryl called and offered to come early, as they had a cancellation. Unfortunately, I had a previous engagement and could not take advantage of that. However, they still showed up right about 2PM and got to work. They thoroughly cleaned each fireplace, and also put down blankets to keep our carpets clean from any debris that might have been present. As far as I could tell, they did an excellent job of cleaning. The entire visit took a little over an hour, and although they were friendly, they were obviously very focused on their work and were quite efficient. As for fixing the problems, one is clearly fixed. One of the fireplaces would not light from the wall switch, but would light manually. Daryl suggested that it was probably a failing thermopile which would exhibit this behavior. So, he replaced the thermopile, and as expected the fireplace now works. The second fireplace is more uncertain right now, but it is also likely to be fixed. In this case, the fire would just go out, and then usually re-ignite itself. If we turned off the switch and restarted it, it would come back on, but might go out again eventually. Daryl suggested that in this case, it was likely a loose connection, and, when he had the panel off noticed that in fact a couple of wire nuts were not sized properly, and when those connections were wiggled, the fire would sometimes go out. Despite this evidence, I asked that he go ahead and replace the thermopile since we are near the end of life for that, which he did. At this point, we have not run the fireplace enough to be certain whether the intermittent issue is completely resolved, but it seems likely. Overall, we are completely satisfied and happy to have our equipment back in functioning condition.

I wanted to get my fireplace inspected before I started using it this winter. I found "A Brighter Glow" on Angie's List. When I called he was very busy, so my appointment was scheduled out a couple of weeks. As he was inspecting the fireplace he stated that the paint was worn off on the inside of the fireplace, and he went out to his truck, got some paint and painted it. I told Darrell that my fireplace doesn't put out very much heat, and he suggested that I have a fan installed. He had a fan in his truck, so I had him install it. While he was at my house, my wife and son came home. He was very pleasant to both of them.

The technician was most personable and by the time he left I felt like I had made a new friend. He intoduced himself, but I don't remember whether it was the owner or not.
