Sopris Review Sopris Homes is NOT a true custom home builder. Our experience has been horrible. If others say they got a quality build, it’s highly likely there are undiscovered construction defects that were covered up before the owners noticed. Pull down a gutter to see if fascia was painted or even caulked. Measure fascia to see if it is actually fascia or a cheaper piece of siding substituted as fascia. Put a level or square on walls, floors, bathtubs. Pull off your soffit to see if there is proper framing to support it. He has James Hopperstad, as the team architect. He is NOT an architect. Neither is he skilled. Want a closet rod for hanging clothes in your kitchen pantry? Want to lose areas after the fact because return air and mechanical walls were omitted? Want blatant mistakes and omissions in your plans? If you want incompetence, he’s your guy! In fact, Sopris does NOT employ a single trade craftsman, framer, Carpenter or any construction employees. Although you contract with them as a “custom luxury home builder”, John Stevens subs out the entire build to another builder, Bullzeye Builders out of Windsor. Sopris is unskilled labor, cheap out shortcuts, substitution of inferior materials for their profit and incompetence at luxury prices.
