The plumber arrived promptly at 8:30 AM and was finished around 10:30 AM. The work involved replacing a 13 year-old low quality water heater beyond its expected lifespan with a new high quality and energy efficient one as well as replacing the intake valve and bringing things up to code. Overall the plumber was very efficient and did a very good job of setting up the pipes so they look clean and professional. The price tag was rather high, but it is probably worth it to get quality work done and they do use American-made Bradford White water heaters. The installation is backed by a 10 year warranty.

The representative arrived on time and appeared to do a very accurate and complete review of my needs. The purpose of the service to compare companies. While this service was professional, I ultimately chose to use a different provider to install my A/C unit.

I've used Precision plumbing on several occasions. My experience has been mixed, but my most recent experience was negative, and it will be my last. To start, this company is expensive. You can be certain to pay more with Precision than competing plumbers in the area, for the same service. I am okay with that if I know that the quality of the work is high, and the advice is honest. Most recently, I had a problem with my hot water contaminating the cold when I turn it on. The plumber who arrived did not do any kind of investigation, but simply recommended that we replace the kitchen faucet at a cost of $1100. When I pressed him on why I doubted this would even work, given the investigation I had done, he acknowledged that it might not. He said that I should think about getting another opinion. During the same visit, he replaced the flapper and fill valve in one of our toilets for $255. At this point, I decided to go ahead and pay for it so that I could get something out of the whole experience, despite the high cost. I was very disappointed for 3 reasons. The first is that I had been a loyal customer, despite the high costs. The second is that I expect that, if one plumber has no idea what the problem is (despite doing almost nothing to try to figure it out), the company would feel obligated to send someone else. Finally, recommending a repair which I now know would not have fixed the problem, and then charging a sky-high rate for that repair, is exactly what gives some plumbers a bad name.

I decided to get a second opinion. Hatrock Excavating came our promptly and after looking down the manhole he could easily see tree roots blocking my line and partially blocking my neighbor's line. Hatrock came out and removed the roots and the whole job cost $1000. My neighbor paid half. Problem solved.
Description of Work: Put a camera down my line and checked down the manhole in front of the house. He determined that a 4 inch section of pipe had collapsed under the cement driveway. The bid for the work was $11,800.00 which included cutting out a section of the driveway, replacing the pipe and fixing the driveway.

I would like to start off by saying I hired them because of their next-day availability and their overall and quot;Band quot; Angie's list reviews, most of their non-A ratings were on price, but I figured how bad could it be. A few extra dollars for their good availability would be ok. If I could have waited the extra days I would not have hired them based on price/professionalism in retrospect. To their credit, I gave A to their quality, responsiveness, and punctuality because that was all good for the work performed. Now let me explain: My basement drain is located in a small closet that contains the furnace/ A/C and the 40 gallon tank water heater. Space is tight and the drain is located UNDER the hot water heater edge with only an inch of clearance, so this means if the drain clogs (which it did from A/C condensate draining) then you can't unclog it without removing the water heater. Believe me, I tried before calling someone - I have augers, but you just couldn't get the right angle with the clearance issues. So since my water heater was 10 years old and I don't know its maintenance history as I got this place and lt; 2 years ago, the plan was to replace it with a new unit from them (Bradford White brand) and unclogging the drain while the water heater was out. They (2 guys - one older one younger) gave me the estimated costs before leaving to get the new unit and I agreed. When they came back I confirmed the new unit was in their truck ready to go, then I asked and quot;Do you have the permit?and quot; The senior guy looked at me like I was crazy and said no. I told him and quot;Well, the city of Louisville REQUIRES a permit to replace a hot water heater so I would like to do that please.and quot;. To which he took on a very defensive and even offended tone and replied and quot;I've been doing water heaters in Louisville for 30 years and I've never needed a permit. They know us, they see our trucks all over the city, we have never had a problemand quot;. Ok this does not inspire confidence that he is suggesting they NEVER get the REQUIRED permits to do their work. He didn't even MENTION a permit in the estimate or an option to have them pull it at additional cost. I just assumed they would because they are professionals and it is required by the city. I have to give an and quot;Fand quot; for professionalism on this one. I'm sorry but if you are the pros I am going to pay good money for, this should have been a talking point in the estimate phase with a line item for permit cost. They would have happily done the job with no permit or acceptance of liability for their work (that the permit enforces) of an install which if done incorrectly could cause catastrophic property damage (flooding from bad water line install) or even kill the home-owner and family (bad gas line install resulting in explosion.) If they don't pull the permit in the companies name (do not pull a permit for them in your name or you are liable for their bad work) and you don't know it's required, and something goes wrong - they are not liable because no permit was pulled. It is a second opinion on the install job meeting code and being safe, insurance companies may deny claims on property damage if permits were not pulled when required, and you and your family's safety is at stake. It is IMPORTANT and I am appalled they were going to skip it and not even mention it. How can you fully trust a company that doesn't pull required permits? It's a huge red flag.So he started to set these wheels in motion by calling the city to get a permit started. Good, we're getting back on the right track. Then he let me know his concern that we might not pass inspection if we do a drop-in replacement due to the drain situation. He guessed at a maximum that 1 inch clearance could be raised to about brick-height (3-4 inches maybe?). The alternatives to this are to do a tankless water heater instead, to a drain relocation (he implied this would be out-of-price range expensive since everything would have to come out of the closet first - furnace, A/C, etc), or to move the water heater to the cold-zone garage etc. This made sense to me, I believe these are honest recommendations so I have no problem with that. They're estimate for installing a Rinnai RU98I tankless water heater seemed excessively high to me, but it was too late in the day for that on a Friday to do this additional job, plus I didn't want to blindly move forward at the estimated price, and especially with the no-permit red flag. So the work they performed was removing my existing hot water heater and clearing the floor drain with a power-auger.So for removing my existing water heater, the charge was $663.00. It's a 1 or 1.5 hour job with no parts expense and perhaps a fee to dispose the unit. In my opinion that was almost double a reasonable charge. Then the drain clearing (not a main drain) was $335.75 which is maybe $75-100 over a reasonable charge in my opinion. Yes I did agree to a charge of and quot;about $1000and quot; before the work was done which I could have refused but I said yes because I did want the work done that day - just to be clear this was not a and quot;surpriseand quot; final invoice, just one I felt I had to accept if I wanted the work completed that day.So this brings me to their and quot;flat-rate pricingand quot; which I believe is a major disservice to their customers in terms of pricing and transparency. They disappear to their truck to crunch their numbers like everyone else, and emerge with one line item per thing you are requesting, with high prices and no explanation as to why the prices seem so high.Do they tell you numbers before work is done? Yes. Does this save you money? NO, it seems it can DOUBLE your cost or more based on this experience and some pricing information I gathered from hourly-rate model companies, so this pricing model is a disservice to the customer cost-wise and transparency-wise in my opinion. Steer clear of this company unless you like to light money on fire, or can accept that as a trade-off for their good availability (next-day in most cases). But BEWARE they are not pulling permits when required unless YOU force them to do so. A professional company would do this for every job it is required for and itemize the permit cost in the estimate and explain to you it is there for your safety, and it is required by the city.

They are the most reliable tradesman that I have ever worked with. They are highly skilled, professional, and have great integrity. Their prices are near the highest but they stand behind any work they do often beyond the warranty period. If you have an emergency in the middle of the night they will be there within an hour. All of their technicians have provided me with excellent service.

I logged onto their website at 6 AM, scheduled an 8-10 slot for the same day. They called at 8 and showed up around 8:15 when they said they would. Two young techs repaired my furnace in about 30 minutes. They noted how much it would have cost if they needed to replace the parts they serviced. They didn't even mind my two dogs being under foot the whole time.

I called precision to come to my home and replace a simple hot water circ. pump. I told them what the problem was and even gave them the make and model number of the pump they needed to replace. The service guy showed up, said yes that's what needs to be done, but he would have to go get the pump. He said the quote would be almost $1,400. The pump is an $80 part. The job would take about an hour to install the pump. Even with the most expensive replacement pump on the market (about $250) the job should obviously not have been more than $500. Precision is a TOTAL RIPOFF and I will NEVER call them again!

I'm writing this 30 minutes after John the service tech left. I'm actually still a bit amazed. As a condition of selling the home we are in, we had to have the sump pump, pit and piping inspected by a professional plumber. John did all that, gave an honest report, was professional and friendly and did a thorough job. The amazing part, there was no charge. It was a managers special and the service fee was waved. He did no repairs so there was no charge. He did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. This is the first time I have had to call a service tech to my home and I can honestly say Precision will be the ONLY company I call in the future.

Came quickly and provided an estimate. I assumed based on the estimate of $400 it was going to be a very involved repair. Sigh and asked them to continue. However, when he completed the work in 30 minutes I knew I was clearly taken advantage of. That is $800/hr! I was referred to my signature that I agreed to the work, so I had to pay. I complained to the manager about this excessive fees and that it was completely out of line. He did reduce the price to a reasonable fee, but it should have not come to this. I hope others will read this and think twice about hiring them or refuse to sign anything until the work is complete and work out a fair price.

Our home is a split level with the typical cooling problem: cold in the lower parts of the house and steaming hot upstairs. Though Precision's estimate was quite a bit more than the other estimates we got, we went with them since they were the only ones to seem honest about the fact that central A/C would only make the "levels" in our house worse. Todd offered us a great solution: ductless A/C units. We've had them for two summers now, and they work great. We love how we can adjust the temperature for each specific zone rather than the whole house. Many of our neighbors have asked us about the system, since their central air just doesn't work in split levels. Thanks to Todd for his honesty, and I can't believe those other companies would have charged us for central air knowing we'd be so unhappy with it. What's said about Precision is true: you may pay a little more, but they are a large enough company to be readily available when you need them and the work is done well. We plan to use Precision again to service our A/C units and to help us replace our furnace before next winter.

You have to admire the inner coolness of a man who arrives to work on the rooftop in 90-degree heat wearing A PRESSED LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT. Curtis Shonrock called ahead to let me know exactly what time he would be arriving (after the office had already called to see if an earlier arrival would be convenient since he had had a cancellation). He diagnosed the problem and repaired it in about 15 minutes. Then he pointed out that since it was Tuesday, I could apply an online coupon of $50.00 to the service call. How could my experience have been better? I see that other reviewers have noted the price difference between Precision and other providers. In my experience, the difference (about 15% before the coupon) was well worth it. At first I had called another outfit that offered a coupon, but at 4:30 they had already closed for the day. Precision was able to schedule me for the next morning. As promised, the technician had all necessary equipment to perform any needed repair on the spot- - no time-consuming and expensive return trips. Why use a cheaper but less rofessional service?

All the work was performed as described. New systems are working just as expected. Precision did all of the paperwork for the AC rebate except mail it in. Precision went out of their way to get me a technician in less than a week during the 4th of July weekend. I was most pleased with their efforts. The electrician was outstanding. He was professional, courteous, responsive and punctual. But most importantly, he was competent. He figured out the problem which was the Sears dryer and was able to see sparks coming out of the back. While the problem was not fixed since it was a problem for Sears to handle, I did feel closure and relief that my house electrical components were all working as they should. Previously I had had Precision install my tankless water heater and whole house water filtration system. I also had them service my very old furnace, split duct ac and regular ac systems and they were always thorough. So I was confident when i called them for electric repairs.
Description of Work: New Sears Dryer installed kept tripping the fuse box so Sears told me to call an electrician since it must be my electrical and not the dryer. Having had many happy service calls with Precision for plumbing and ac, i called them. They went out of their way to get me help on the July 4th holiday weekend. Wow! Precision Electrician examined the outlet, the fuse box and the wiring on the dryer. He determined that it was the dryer causing the problem and was able to recreate the problem over and over to validate his conclusions. He was very thorough in his examination. I was so happy to get a competent electrician quickly who was competent and professional.

So far the repair work has gone well, however, had I not thought that their add in the monthly edition of the Denver Angies list was good enough I should have looked at the reviews on this plumber. The cost of service for less than three hours of work ($435.00 hr)was way out of line. In addition their add offered $50.00 off any service repair, which they did, however, when pulled up their add on the internet I see where they offer 10% discount for senior citizen - this was never offered. ,

The best thing about Precision is they are generally available when you need someone. If I didn't need repairs done so quickly, I would have waited and gotten an estimate from another plumber before calling them. The original quote for my repair that look less than 30 minutes was $356, but because I had already purchased the $14 needed part he managed to get it down to $199.96 and said I was getting a really good deal. In reality I would have been better off paying him the $59 call out fee and fixing it myself, but I also was considering replacing the entire shower/tub set which he quoted at $900-1000. John was very nice and very professional and he did the simple repair, however I did ask him to fix the leak around where the shower head connected to the pipe and he said it was fixed (which it appeared to be if you ran the water for just 10 seconds). I ran the water for a bit after he left and it was still leaking so I called him to let him know and his response was to get a new shower head. It's unlikely I'll call Precision Plumbing again unless I'm in a major bind because they are expensive and based on the quality of work I received today, I was underwhelmed.

The estimate was more than twice that of all the other quotes (had 7 estimates total - ended up getting the job done for $3500). I had to give him a "D" instead of a "F" because there was another company that was even worse (estimate for $9800 for only 1/2 of the work). Warning lights came on when he told me about the companies 1 year interst free financing. My advice: get more estimates!!!

Plumber was on-time and very professional. He explained how repairs could be done; rebuild v. replacement, and gave options/price points for each. He also checked that the leaking was not caused by a water pressure problem into the house. I chose the rebuild, lower cost option and the work was performed quickly and sucessfully.
