I liked them a lot. They did a great job and were there for the entire day. They put covers over everything so it was clean; they just did a very good job. Their prices were a little high but their quality of work was excellent. They came right away.

I have used Precision Plumbing and Heating for many years, for all of my plumbing, heating and cooling needs. They're not cheap, but their customer service and quality are first class, so I really don't mind the premium price. I have an ongoing maintenance contract with them, and get 15% of their book rate, which definitely pays for itself. I had three cracked old toilets and three leaky bathroom faucets, so it was time to get a lot of repair done at the same time. Jacob did an excellent job in installing all of these (I've never had a bad experience with Precision). I was slightly hesitant about installing very low-flow toilets, but I've been completely pleased with them, and have noticed savings on my water bills. Jacob spent a good 30 or 45 minutes with me picking out the faucet styles, and again I'm very pleased with both the appearance and the function. I had an issue (unrelated to the installation) of some soldering flux stuck in one of the faucets, with foaming caused by it. I need to have this looked at again, but am completely confident that Precision will fix it. They always follow through with a call after an appointment, to make sure things went well. I will definitely continue to use them for future needs. They also maintain and service my furnace, steam humidifier, and evaporative cooler.
Description of Work: Replaced three old toilets with 1.28 gpf Toto toilets, and replaced three old bathroom faucets with high-quality ones.

Plumber volunteered to check water pressure even though not specified by me. Informed of "obstruction" and provided $400 estimate to correct. I opted to do it however am suspicious about validity of plumbers claim of obstruction - may have been "taken!"

The representatives were nice, but two different individuals examined the problem on two different dates, and then came up with the estimate with a complicated explanation of what needed to be done. We almost went with them, as they were so convincing, but decided to get another estimate.
Description of Work: We were given a quote to repair a radiant heat manifold. The quote was well over $2,000. We did not feel that was appropriate and got another estimate. Another company fixed the manifold for less than $500.

Be careful of plumbers who work by the hour, and not by the job. I could have gone with another plumber (from AngiesList) that seemed cheaper and had many good references, but (given the time of the job) it would have cost more with the per-hour plumber. I think I got my money's worth, but it was still quite a bill...and the quote for the external clean out just about made me choke.
Description of Work: I don't have an exterior clean out, so he had to remove the toilet first. Because of no external clean out, he was limited to a smaller head size then he could use on the 4 inch main (which limited how much he could clean out). Even with a smaller head than needed to get complete clean out, he got the majority of 4 bad root clogs. Then he did a complete camera inspection with me there to show me what he could (and couldn't) get...and to compare with what I remember from my last clean out. He then cleaned up the area, reseated and caulked the toilet. All in all, it was a good job and timely, but still I've had the same job done for less. He even quoted me for installation of external clean outs at ~$4000, but I was talking to another plumber and he said his standard price for the same work would be about $2200. This just goes to show that there is a LARGE disparity in prices, and you have to be careful with BOTH 'quality' references and overall price.

The job went smoothly, they just installed the wrong furnace.
Description of Work: Precision replaced our furnace. We contracted for a 2 stage and they installed a single stage. They refunded $100 for the mistake and then would not return phone calls. Although this was ten yrs ago, you never forget being treated like this. I am a handyman and could easily produce 20 of my customers who think Precision is a rip off on price.

Precision's estimate was higher than the one other estimate we were able to obtain, but the furnace they offered was higher quality. We needed to act fairly quickly because our furnace was failing. They provided many testimonials of happy customers, which led us to believe they would do a good job. The installers were polite, careful of not dirtying the house, and did the install efficiently. We bought a high efficiency furnace, which requires both a combustion air intake pipe as well as an exhaust pipe. Unfortunately, they put the intake too close to the exhaust (in violation of install instructions) and the City Inspector caught it. This is a safety issue, for if there is a crack in the wrong place in the furnace, all of a sudden you will be pumping CO into the house. The installer returned to fix it, but spent some energy trying to convince me it didn't really matter. I did not agree, and my assessment of his technical expertise was lowered considerably. Also, our cold air return is severely undersized for the number of vents blowing hot air. We pointed this out as a concern to the estimator. He decided not to take action till he saw how the furnace performed. Turned out the furnace kept throwing errors and shutting down for lack of intake air, and the return duct sheet metal flexed inward (indicating a vacuum) every time the furnace kicked on. Precision came and "fixed" it by slightly increasing the air intake size at the furnace. We had been hoping for a contractor who would take on a more thorough attempt at getting the furnace system airflow to work better by putting directional baffles in key places or offering more thorough solutions. In summary -- they will tell you they are the best, but my experience is they are no better than average, and more expensive to boot. (Side note --- they discovered a leaky water heater, and bid a replacement + install for two times what we ended up paying)

When I called Precision, they were able to respond the SAME day, in the evening, and did not charge extra for that responsiveness. I met Paul H, who was a great young man, at the location where the work was to be done. He inspected the situation, being mindful of my tenant. He then provided me with a clear list of options. He then called his shop to ensure they had the parts in stock, and he was done in a couple of hours. I inspected the work, which was flawless, and paid the man. This is my second experience with Precision Plumbing and I'd highly recommend them if you need fast response, quality work, friendly professionalism, and they really treat tenants well, if you're a landlord.

My breaker to my air conditioner kept kicking off during the hottest part of the summer. I purchased 3 new circuit breakers: one in the same wattage, and the next two higher wattages. I was told by the Precision electrician that my compressor was likely going out but we might decrease the breaker issue by going to the next higher breaker wattage. I provided the part and the Precision specialist installed it in about 10 minutes. He then informed me that the cost would be $180.00 (I haggled the price down a bit since I supplied the part, but someone else may have just paid that amount). He also quoted a price for adding a light switch in the basement at $500.00 (obviously, I'm not paying for THAT). I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. If I hadn't been afraid of electrocuting myself, I too could have done the job in 10 minutes. The representative was very nice and professional, but explained that Precision only employs the best, so you pay for that. I suppose if you had unlimited funds, you'd want to go with this company. In the future, I'll use a local electrician who doesn't doesn't charge so much more than the competition. (Incidentally, the new breaker was not an improvement and I ended up replacing the entire air conditioning system through a much more reasonable local company.)
Description of Work: 1 circuit breaker replacement Time to complete: 10 minutes Part supplied by customer Cost: originally $180.00 (haggled down to $127.79 due to $5.00 customer-supplied part)

I wanted to use a local company to replace a water heater at a rental and called to get a quote. The only way to get one would be to pay $59 to have a technician come out and tell me that the leaking water heater needed to be replaced. They missed out an opportunity to get my business for the rental I was selling, the rental I am buying, my house and my commercial building. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Although the quality of work was great, I was initially charged over $873 less a coupon for $59 for approximately 1 1/2 hours of work. They installed a disposal that retails for about $86 from Home Depot plus the few pipes to connect the disposal and two sinks to the P-trap. They installed a 1/3 hp disposal and said the 1/2 hp disposal would cost an exttra $200 (the actual cost difference is $10 if bought directly at Home Depot). My son was home when the work was performed, but not knowing what price was reasonable he approved the work being done. Afterwards I called to complain about the price and they agreed to refund $400. I would not use them again as they are way too expensive. I feel other plumbers could have performed the same quality work at a much fairer price.

I moved in to my home in reliance on Precision's corrective repair. The first time I turned on the heating system there were explosive sounds and reverberations throughout the house. The contractor I called the next day removed the entire system from its gas and water links and informed me that the system was explosive and dangerous, that there were signs of a history of explosion throughout the illegal (also undisclosed) heating closet, and that the toxic flooring had risen in response to gas leaks throughout the system -- visible outside the vents -- and had been burned. Thus I purchased a home without knowing that I had a dead and dangerous heating system that could not properly be replaced in its current context. In further correspondence, Robichaud pointed to the inadequate inspection as the source of my problem, and as previously stated, indicated that he owed no duty to the buyer. He contested the dangerousness of the system, and while asserting that Precision told the sellers three years previously that the system was dead, argued that he owed no duty to the identifiable prospective buyer. He indicated that Precision had properly followed the seller's orders in accepting $675 and preparing a report of remedy that disclosed no issues with the heating system. I spent close to fifteen thousand dollars in creating a legal heating system in my garage, and running water and gas pipes under my home for this purpose. The home had been purchased as remodeled, and as a retiree, the costs to me were enormous. In addition, because I moved in at the end of summer, the work could not be finished till the first snow fell, creating enormous anxiety about my wellbeing and the wellbeing of the home, There is email correspondence with Precision President Tom Robichaud setting forth all the facts disclosed here. Would you accept a report of correction from this company?
Description of Work: Precision Plumbing was called to my prospective home to make corrections to a boiler/heating system in response to an inspection report that required a repair to that system. Precision performed the alleged repair and the sellers paid the price listed above for the repair. In fact, the boiler and heating system were defunct and explosive. Precision's report of correction noted no problems with the heating system, leading me to believe that I was purchasing a home with an operable and corrected heating system. According to Precision President Tom Robichaud, Precision informed the sellers three years previously -- in 2008 -- that the heating system needed replacement and that there was no adequate repair for its problems. Thus, Precision knowingly accepted a fee to perform a service that it knew would not create an operable, legal or safe heating system. It is Precision's position (all of this contained in email from President Tom Robichaud) that Precision owed no duty to me as a known prospective purchaser but only to the sellers -- who it had informed three years ago that the system was defunct. Precision took the position that the system was not dangerous. Curiously, Precision also took the position that repair to the system was perhaps possible.

Response from Precision Plumbing Heating Cooling & Electric
Precision performed a service for a Customer that called us and paid for the work. We did the repair and showed the Customer the completed and functioning work. The Customer was clear that they only wanted the specific correction done to satisfy the home inspector’s report, nothing more We can only suggest work to be done; the choice is always the homeowners. Inferring that we somehow should have or could have forced a customer to replace their boiler is unrealistic. There is nothing dishonest on Precision Plumbing & Heating’s part by consistently saying the same thing, by 3 different Licensed Technicians about the boiler over a 3 year period If anything is false or deceptive it would be the seriously misleading home inspector’s report used in making a buying decision. Had this client hired any Licensed Heating Contractor to inspect the system prior to the purchase I’m sure that an accurate evaluation would have been brought to her attention. I would suggest if there is to be blame placed anywhere it would be the people that were trusted for advice and had direct interaction with prior to her purchase. 1) The home inspector for misrepresenting the true condition 2) The Real Estate agent for conflict of interest in representing both seller and buyer 3) The former owner for not disclosing information Precision Plumbing & Heating was never in a position to influence any buying decisions, nor could we have possibly known what would be done with any information that was given. It was disappointing that the first guy blew out the motherboard for the heater, and I had to go a night without heat, but it was fixed the next day
Description of Work: My heater would start, but then shut off shortly after it started to blow. The first guy that came out didn't ground himself and blew out the motherboard. They had to order another one, and sent a worker that had been over to fix it before, and he installed the new motherboard at no cost, then found the problem of why it wasn't shutting down. It needed a new safety gizmo

The heat and hot water went out in the entire house the day before a snow storm. Precision sent me out a tech that afternoon. He diagnosed this specialized heating system quickly. He called around to find the right parts. He needed a circuit board, an ignitor and a sensor for a 1998 unit. They sent a courier to Denver to get the parts to him that night. He got it up and running with the available parts that night and finished the whole project in a very timely manner. He called and kept me informed as each part came in and was installed.
