We contacted this company (1 person--Leif) through Craigslist. At first, he was extremely responsive and began the work immediately. His original estimate was low by 20%--not great--but we paid the additional fee. The work was accomplished in two days. However, more work was to be completed in order to get the irrigation system running. On the 2nd phase of the job, he was much slower to undertake the work saying he had competing jobs. We spoke with him about the need to have the system operational as we were leaving on vacation for 3 weeks (Boulder's summer was hot and dry). These discussions and calls occurred prior to our departure. He indicated the need to change additional heads in the yard. We did not hear from him prior to leaving on vacation which required calling while we were traveling. After many calls and voice mails, we reached him. He again stressed the need to replace sprinkler heads around the yard. We agreed to changing 5 additional heads (heads that worked already but he claimed they were ineffective). By giving him the ok to do additional replacement work, he committed to making sure the entire irrigation system was operational and functioning properly at the time when he replaced the heads. When my wife returned from vacation, the front yard grass was 75% dead. I continued on business travel for an additional week. Again, I tried reaching him repeatedly. I left multiple messages. Finally upon reaching him he demanded that we pay him immediately for his work. I told him I would be returning in 4 days and would assess his work. I told him the front yard grass had died and that the sprinklers (which worked prior to his arrival) would need to be repaired now and that we would deduct the repair bill from his outstanding invoice. In my absence, he appeared at our house, against my request to stay off the property, and confronted my wife. She paid him half of his outstanding invoice and said we would have the front system repaired and have the repair cost deducted from his outstanding balance. Unbeknownst to my wife or I, he ripped out the work from our yard which made the irrigation system totally inoperable. I would strongly recommend using "Down To Earth Sprinklers" and their owner (sole proprietor) Leif.
