REPLACEMENT WINDOWS, REPLACEMENT SLIDING GLASS DOORS, AND REPLACEMENT ENTRY DOORS.
After visiting a local home show, we set up several window folks for estimates, including Ameritech. We set up an appointment and were told to expect a 1.5 hour visit. Right from the get-go things did not go well. As a person with a disability who uses assistive devices, the guy asked me what happened. When I said it was a long story, he persisted in asking. Who does that? I don't need to tell my personal details to a window salesman! He started his spiel and rather than focus on his product, he wanted to know who else we had giving us estimates, who had been to us already, and how his product was so much better. We did have a variety of questions and he told us that we were well informed and thta most people did not ask so many questions. At about the 1 hr and 45 minute mark of him continuing to explain why everyone else's products were bad, I had to deal with a work related issue. I told him I needed to take care of a work probelm and when I went to leave the table he asked "where are you going?". I was gone for about 10 minutes and when I came back he started to go over more issues with other companies. So, at the a little after the two hour mark, I said that we were told to expect a 1.5 hours presentation and that he really needed to give us the bottom line as we had other things going on and I needed to get some work done. He had measured by this time but continued to throw information at us and then repeatedly questioned whether we thought his window would be the right one for us. We repeatedly offered that we would not know if his window was the right one for us until we had gathered all of the information we needed from all the companies we had asked for an estimate and we would be in no way making a decision immediately. He continued to ask the same quetsion, and by now we were at almost 3 hours. Finally, we told him either give us the estimate or leave. He begrudgingly showed us the estimate which was $32,000 for 9 main floor windows and 3 basement windows. That did include trim. Without trim the estimate was for $28,000. After saying we would not make any committment today, he went on to try and discuss whether vwe would pay cash or whether we would be financing the windows, and to try and "save us money" if we committed (a saving of $1000). We finally had to tell him to leave. We tried to be as nice as we could, but that just did not seem to get through to him. He threw so much information at us non-stop that half of what he said we could not recall after the first hour. We indicated to him that he was way over the time we expected and that it needed to end, at which point he told us our questions had made his presentation longer, and that also he had a trainee with him, so that he needed to focus on training the guy. If ever I saw high pressure sales, this was it. It was such a poor experience that even if the quote had been reasonable, we would not want to purchase from this company.

The experience with Ameritech was fantastic from start to finish. It was approximately 60 days from start to finish, from first meeting with the rep to final installation. The window installation was done within two hours and was a quick and easy process. They were extremely thorough with the process and answered any questions along the way. There was a snag with the stucco but Gary made sure to take the time to have it done right so there wouldn't be any extra cost to my husband and I. I highly recommend this company. My son's rooms are already much warmer, not to mention my mind will be at ease now with the extra added protection that these triple pain windows will provide. A huge thank you to everyone in the crew! I can't wait to get the rest of the windows in my house upgraded!!

We did not hire them. We had talked to them at a home show. They were very nice when I spoke to them initially. They called to make an appointment to give us an estimate. They did tell me at the time that it would be a 60 to 90 minute presentation. That didn't bother me too much, so I agreed. They called again the day of the appointment to confirm. I still agreed. However, I had not checked with my husband. When I told him how long the presentation would be, he had zero interest. Given that we have no intention of buying any new windows in the near future and were just interested in getting a ball park idea of what we would be looking at, I decided he was right. It wasn't fair to take up that much of their time when we weren't actually interested in buying. I called to cancel the appointment. I was very apologetic for wasting their time and explained why we were cancelling. I was stunned! The rep was immediately on the defensive, heaping on the guilt ("but you SAID we could come"), putting on the full-court press to get me to change my mind. When I told him that I had read on Angie's List that their presentation was very hard-sell and I wasn't interested in that, he became borderline abusive. I finally told him if that was any indication of how I would be treated once they got into my home, I was glad I had gotten out in time.

Of all the sales tactics in the world, I hate the hard sell the most. We were warned that the presentation would take 60-90 minutes when I scheduled it on the phone. Alan came out on a Saturday morning. He was punctual. My husband and I have been through the sales pitch before...my husband asked him if he could speed up the show. We really were just interested in seeing the product and having the price laid out for us. Alan became very defensive and insulting. It was really awkward and yucky feeling. He finally measured the windows and door and the price he gave us was so high, it took my breath away. $3000 per window?! There were some discounts built in if you were prepared to sign that very day. It was just ridiculous. He did not leave any quotes or paperwork for us to compare with other estimates. He told us we could take a picture with our phones of the numbers he came up with. He left at 12:45 after the 1 hour 45 minute "short version" of his presentation. Even if we were swayed toward this product more than others on the market, I think my husband and I agreed not to buy them on principle.

We have been through the replacement window sales pitch before by another Denver area contractor and ended up purchasing a poor quality product and experiencing a subpar installation which has caused damage to our house. We decided to have Ameritech out to discuss replacing these previously replaced windows as well as replacing the remaining windows of our house. Over the phone I indicated that I did not want to sit through a sales presentation via flipping through every page of a binder as well as explained our situation. The person indicated on the phone that he would let the sales person know and said the appointment would last between 60 and 90 minutes. Our appointment was for Weds at 7pm. The sales person, Allen, showed up on time. Indicating we did not want a presentation from a binder to him and describing our situation he preceded to setup his presentation and started presenting from a binder. After about 2.5 hours of going through the binder and various demonstrations we went around the house and measured. As a previously uninformed consumer of replacement windows, I wanted additional information before signing on the dotted line and making a decision to spend tens of thousands of dollars. No decision like this should have to be made on the spot. I wanted to better understand the installation process and what challenges may be encountered because of the damage the previously installed windows caused as well as understand how Ameritech’s Installation process and product can overcome the issues previously experienced. A sales person cannot answer this information (the only thing they can say is we have been doing this ‘x’ number of years), and I wanted to meet with an experienced installer to understand more about the process and how the product is secured and sealed to the house rather than making the same mistake twice. Unfortunately, this is not an option. In order to meet with an expert, I had to purchase at least three windows and then the installer/expert would come out and review my situation and explain the options. They are only concerned about getting the sale that evening and offering approximately a 25% discount off the initial quote given to try and get you to sign on the dotted line, rather than allowing the consumer the time to make an educated decision. They did not even leave a quote nor any literature about the product to make such decisions. At about 10:30 Allen left. This was perhaps the worst sales experience I have dealt with.

The service was excellent. We had purchased 4 windows last year and wanted to add more this year. They already had all our basic measurements, and Don came out to take final measurements - he was quick and professional. After the custom windows were done, they scheduled installation. The installers showed up promptly and worked quickly and got the job done within a few hours. They were very courteous and professional. My husband and I are very pleased with the service, quality and warranty of their products!

Our experience was great right from the beginning. Jake Savageau, our Project Coordinator, was very knowledgeable about the product and all the features they had to offer. Their replacement windows were definitely superior to any other options we looked at. The installers showed up on time the day we were scheduled to have the work done. They were very professional and did a great job. After they were finished they went over the operation and warranty of the windows. All in all we are very pleased with our whole experience and super excited with our new windows. We will definitely work with them in the future for our other windows that still need to be replaced.

The process went well in spite of bad weather coming in on the 2 techs, but the finished the job without hurrying and were cleaning up in a hail/rain storm. Job well done. Our sales rep who was so helpful in deciding about windows had us sold before we even interviewed the others. Their products just didn't show us how they were better than these. Jack Savageau, the rep, even returned on the same day of the install to make sure we were happy. It was a pleasure to do business with a company that cared.

Jake & Don were great to work with. We've used Ameritech before, back in 2006 and then again in 2007. It was great to see the same employees worked there. That says something about the company and it's culture. Ameritech products are not the cheapest but I truly believe you get what you pay for and I need a reliable window to keep my home insulated and safe and I need a company that I can count on to deliver on time, but most importantly, send trust-worthy professionals to be in my home.

The company came to my door and solicited me to "get a free estimate" on new windows. It was dark outside, so they could not see my "no soliciting" sign. Once I pointed out the "no soliciting" sign, the employee argued with me that he was not "selling" but was offering a free service (an estimate on windows). If this is not selling, then we need new laws and definitions. Companies, like this one, which use this type of high pressure tactics should be avoided.

I'm very, very happy. The things that I liked were everything worked out exactly the way they said it would. The quality of their product is extremely high. It' like vinyl covered aluminum, really nice stuff. They basically replaced all of my windows in one, day, which I was shocked at because I have large windows that run basically run from the floor to the ceiling. They brought a crew, came in, and did a great job. The guys were awesome. I'm very happy with both the quality of the product itself but the quality of the crew. It was just a great job. They/re not the least expensive but how often do you replace your windows? I can't tell whether they would do the same way for others, but my experience was very good.

I love my triple pane windows. I have noticed the heat didn't come on as much after the installation. The sales person was knowledgeable and did not pressure me to decided during the demonstration. I chose Ameritech construction because they do not subcontract the work there was also a 40 year limited warranty that is transferable when I sell my house. The installation team was on time and professional they did a good job of cleaning up after the installation. I did have to vacuum the some sawdust up in all three bedrooms. Over all it was a great experience and I will use Ameritech in the future when I replace my exterior doors.

Last fall, I bought a house from a homeowner who had purchased Oxford windows and had them installed by Ameritech in the early 2000's. I had the Oxford window warranty transferred to me as the new homeowner. And thus I was looking at window repairs to be completed through Ameritech. The process went quickly once the windows with seal failure had been verified. Ron was the primary contact throughout the process. I also dealt with Brad, who was very knowledgeable and inspected the windows in question. Don completed the work, and he was really excellent and professional. He was mindful of my recently refinished floors, which I appreciated. This company does a very nice job with repairs, which is good for folks to know. Even though there may be a few hiccups along the way. I am very pleased with Ameritech's work and the results. The new windows look great!

Installed a Garden Window for Kitchen. The installation went well. Problem was that it was not what I agreed to order. The salesman was pushy and condescending. He insulted me for wanting additional quotes. He shattered my dreams for what I originally ordered by saying that I never brought up the fact that I wanted a shelf for the Garden window as PROMISED. As far as I am concerned they are Liars and cheats. Their prices are the highest and the quality is great. The big issue is that triple pane windows are truly overkill for the Colorado area. Ask any contractor. Lesson learned insure that you have everything in writing that they promised.
Description of Work: Installed Garden window. The installation was good overall. Border around window was ugly and was not given a choice to change. When ordering demand the picture upfront. Get EVERYTHING in writing or they will lie about what they promise.

Response from AMERITECH CONSTRUCTION CO
How upsetting to hear that you were unhappy with your recent experience, especially being a previous customer that had placed a large order for triple pane windows from us back in 2006 and commenting that you were completely satisfied with the experience. So much so, that you invited us back into your home for a garden window some 6 years later. I would like to reply to all your statements. 1-Triple pane windows have both R and U values that cannot be obtained with double pane windows making them far superior than double pane windows for energy efficiency and comfort in your home. That's a fact. Anybody telling you otherwise is either clueless, misinformed or doesn't sell triple pane windows. 2-$3500 for a Winchester Garden window is an excellent price for a window of such high quality, you even noted in your scathing negative review that you give it an A for quality. We could have easily sold you a lower quality window for less. We could have easily provided you less for less. 3-Though most garden windows are available with a glass shelf, ours is not. In addition, not only did we not tell you it had a glass shelf, we didn't charge you for one, didn't put it on the contract, didn't show you any pictures of one. Most of all, as per your request, you wanted to see pictures of what it would look like. We provided you with the link to the manufacturer's website so you could look at pictures of their garden windows. None of these windows has a glass shelf. After reviewing the website and not seeing any evidence of a glass shelf, which you claim as being so important that not having one "shattered you dreams", why wouldn't you question this? How about a call to the office asking why the manufacturer's website showed no proof a glass shelf even existed? 4-The border around your window required a thicker piece of trim because of the unique tile work in your kitchen, the standard trim didn't do the job, so we had to use a larger border than usual to properly trim the garden window. You made no mention of this being a problem for you when we finished the job. Otherwise, we would have explained this to you or even come up with something you may have liked better. 5-Claiming your sales rep. was condescending because you mentioned getting other quotes? He just stated the facts: He was the same rep. you had when you purchased our windows the first time some 6 years earlier. We were offering you the same quality and manufacturer, we even had the same exact installers. You told him your budget and he bent over backwards to accommodate you. What else did you need to look at? The bottom line is we have done excellent work for you twice. We provided superior quality windows and installation both times. We did everything we said we would do both times as promised per your contract. What do we get for that? We get called "Liars and Cheats". Your Welcome!

First I want to say how thrilled I am with my new windows and the level of service I received from the folks at Ameritech, especially Brian. After a nearly 8 month ordeal, I am overjoyed to finally have, not only new windows but most importantly, the windows I wanted. I owe it all to Brian and his willingness to go the extra mile and do whatever it took to honor a promise he made to me when we signed the contract for our replacement windows. He really went to bat for us when no one else would. We had an especially difficult time getting approval for our second floor bedroom replacement windows between satisfying our HOA and town's building department egress requirements, and our requirement that they be double-hung high energy efficient windows. During our 8 month ordeal we even had another window manufacturer we had signed a contract with ask to be released from the contract because they could not manufacturer a window that would satisfy all three of these elements. After meeting with over a half dozen different window manufacturers and contractors we had pretty much lost hope of being able to replace our windows with anything other than builder's grade or some other inferior vinyl single-hung windows. When we met with the salesperson from Ameritech and explained the obstacles involved and all we had gone through they immediately called Brian to see if they would be able to help us. Brian promised to do whatever it took to make sure we got the replacement windows we wanted. It turned out to be more difficult than he expected but in the end he kept his promise and we now have the superior high energy efficient double-hung windows we wanted.

Due to the geometry of the house attic construction, only about 30% of the attic could be covered with the radiant barrier. This reflects on the company in that they were confident that radiant barrier installation would still be worthwhile. I am skeptical and will have to wait until summer to see if the radiant barrier helps. We had it installed in spite of my skepticism because it wasn't that much money. We feel any significant help would be worth it. We didn't like the dismissive attitude of the salesman, different from the installer, about our new windows. He said it was too bad he hadn't gotten to us sooner because the product he represented was much superior. He had never heard of Anderson Renewal! All that said, the installer was pleasant, punctual, efficient, and performed an excellent installation. He clean up after himself very nicely.

We were told the estimate process would take about an hour to an hour and a half. It took 2 and half hours. The company knew their product, but spent so much time on the basics and trashing their competitors that it took too long. It was 2 hours in before we even got to see the window and this was after we asked them to speed things up because it was taking too long. They got defensive with us on this and here I thought I was the customer. They stated that it was 60 to 90 mins after the measurement. We continue and after 2 and a half hours we finally got the estimate. They gave 30 day and you sign tonight options. When we told them that we would not be moving forward that night, they became pushy salesmen. We told them again that we would not forward tonight and they pushed. At this point we had enough. We thank them for their time and ask them to go. They continued to push. We asked them to leave again and they pushed. Then they crossed the line when they tried to play me against my boyfriend. At that point, I was so upset I had to leave the meeting and my boyfriend kicked them out. I will never do business with this company!!! Also, do not fall for the "he's going to watch and learn" line. The guy that was there to "learn" turned out to be the really pushy one and knew enough that he was not in training.

We signed a contract with Ameritech on October 18, 2004 to have the windows replaced. We were told that they would be installed around the first of the year (2005). They called and said they could install them earlier than expected which happened to be right before Christmas. We had guests in for Christmas so we weren't sure if we wanted to do it then but they completed the job in 2 days. We like the windows, they are easy to clean, fairly easy to remove and we like the looks of the windows. The workmanship is between average and slightly above average.
