I am satisfied with the paint work, and the time in which it was accomplished. Overall, I'm disgusted that I let these people in my home.
Description of Work: I hired PTA to paint my basement, and they did a good job. I noticed some food items missing from my kitchen and pantry, but wasn't too concerned with it. I had shared with them a previous experience with a painter who had taken liberties with my television (screwed it up) and had also drank my beer, thinking they would get the picture The paint job was good, and the work was thorough, but they used paint from their supplier instead of what I had specified. My ceilings look a little blue to me as a result. They offered to repaint them the color I preferred, but I didn't take them up on that as I felt that I wasn't adamant about the color in the first place--I'll live with it instead of pose a huge problem for these two people, who apparently are constantly in financial dire straights. I rehired them to paint one bedroom, attached bathroom, and loft above the bedroom. They called at 8:05 AM they day they were to start saying they were behind, and would be "thier tomarow". They showed up the next day about 15 minutes late in a vehicle that started instantly dripping oil on my driveway. I provided a drop cloth for them to park over for the duration of the job. Work proceeded, but every night when I came home, there were food items missing. They had made an earlier comment asking what I had to drink. I said water?? Cokes?? and then said jokingly--send me a text and i'll get you what you want. No text ever came through, but that didn't stop the consumption. In the end they ate (and cooked) one pizza, two boxes of crackers, two bags of chips, about 20 fruit roll ups, a dozen cookies, a bunch of soft drinks and who knows what else. When I confronted them (Paul) he was very defensive, and even though admitted that feeding him was not part of our agreement, continued on a path that assured his being asked to leave my property. He kept trying to minimize the infraction and actually said that he hadn't eaten even one chip, but maybe his wife had. I stopped payment on the check (they had pressured me into paying them in full before the job was complete, and there were minor imperfections in their work.) and notified Paul of the stop payment, and made him come back and correct the issues. During this time, Paul continued to interrupt, correct, and also make sure to let me know that "they do this to their customers all the time. and I'm the first one in 16 years to say anything". After giving him a new check for $50 less than the original (for the food and hassle) I let him wash his brush, and escorted him to the door. Although I don't wish these people any hardship, I feel that people like this that lack general respect and take advantage of those that hire them, pay them good money on time, and permit them access to their personal dwellings should be exposed. Great paint work, just don't let them inside unless you're there to supervise, because they think its their right to open your drawers, pantry, fridge and take what they want.
