Very poor customer service

I have had garbage service with WM for 5 years. They were a bit pricier than other companies, but I had no complaints regarding the service. Recently, they changed the pickup times, from 5:00 pm to 7:05 am, catching most of my neighbors off guard. One week they skipped my street entirely with recyclables. Today, they did not pick up a bag of leaves alongside the garbage can. I called the company and spoke to a very nice woman who checked on my account and told me that the rules have changed and they will no longer pick up yard waste like leaves. Yard waste has to go in a special container. No one in the neighborhood was informed of the change, nor were the phone staff at the call center. What container? Where do I get it? When did this start? So, I get that they are trying to recycle yard waste, but how about telling customers about it? Fortunately, most of my neighbors have gone with another company, so there is a solution.

This is the worst company ever, not reliable at all. Two pick-ups in the month for recycling were just not picked up and they only pick up every two weeks (the recycling). So that's a pretty bad record and it has happened before. I have to call them all the time and more than once for every issue, it is very frustrating and ridiculous! I have talked to so many people and they are nice but the job is not getting done. Now my recycling is blowing all over the street, this is not something I should have to worry about, we pay for a service! Last time the driver said that all the trucks were broken down, it's always a different excuse. I am changing companies immediately, I have more important things to be concerned with! I would not use this company.

I made calls to the Waste Mgmt. office. They said someone would pick up within 24-48 hours. Still no show. Since trash was not picked up, I called customer service and asked to be credited for the missed pick-up. The representative could not handle the actual crediting of my account. She had to put in a special request with another dept. before we could get credited. On my next bill, my account was only credited 52 cents for the missed pick-up, so I had to call back and 'fight' to get the pro-rated cost. Unbelievable. On the 'good' weeks, pick up would occur sometimes at 7:30 am and sometimes after 7 pm. Recycle and trash were never picked up at the same time. If trash was picked up early, we could count on having the recycle picked up much later, or vice versa.

We use Waste Management Inc. We used them when we were way back in Pittsburgh and nothing is a problem with them. They pickup our trash weekly, i.e., on Tuesday. With them, nothing is a problem. I stick our trash out there in a black garbage bag and they throw it in the truck, and that is done. I would not put anything inflammable in there or anything that would hurt them, I do not do that, but you know I have one bag of garbage or five bags of garbage they would throw it into the truck. They are really a convenient service. They are very very punctual. They come on the day, they are almost like clock work, unless the roads are bad. They also call you like if there is a holiday or whatever. It is an automated call, but it will tell you that your trash will be one day later. If Christmas is on Tuesday, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday, and that I think is a really really nice features, because sometimes I do not know what holidays they work or what holidays they do not. My husband has called them a few times, I do not know if he has called them on billing or just as a question and there is always somebody in the office to answer. They never have to call you back, as they know the answer. If a bag breaks or whatever, they never leave a mess, the driver picks up the trash. I have seen some of my neighbors that may leave their trash overflow or something, they have a different company, and they do not pick it up, there it is just lying there in the street. On the other hand my driver does not do that. They are very professional. They are very friendly. We had another company come in to tell, and their prices were lower, but my husband said no we are very happy with the people that we have, we are not changing them.

I like that they always have the trash picked up early in the day. They come even when we have pretty bad smell, even though some of the other companies I see that haven’t picked up, they still come and pick up, so that is always nice. I am not very sure of the price. I think they charge $84 every six months.

They’re fine. We had a small, local company before but Waste Management bought them out. We had them in a previous neighborhood and they were very reasonably priced. I have never had a problem with them.
