After meeting with two other landscapers we chose Singing Hills because they seem to understand what we were wanting to accomplish and willing to work within our budget. One person from another company insisted the work couldn't be done without renting a bobcat and spending more than $5,000. I was cautious when Steve met with us and came back with a very reasonable proposal, but as I sit and type this now I couldn't be more pleased....even though our grass is currently covered in snow. The attention to detail that Steve provided us was really more than I expected. He was very good about helping us create a border for the area that would be our lawn. What he created was pleasing to the eye, enough lawn for our kids to play soccer and also efficient with regards to the amount of sprinkler heads we would need. Juan and his crew showed up every morning on time and worked hard on all the days they were here. Juan communicated to me at the end of each day where they were with the work and what they would be doing the next day. Meanwhile, Steve stopped by to check on their progress as well. After Juan's crew was done and the seed was laid Steve communicated with me on the watering schedule and set our timer for the sprinklers. He checked in weekly to make sure the seed was getting enough water. I was hesitant to seed instead of sod, but am very very happy with the seed that Steve chose and the prep work that was done to insure success and minimal weeds. Steve was honest in sharing on his proposal that a second seeding would need to be done to ensure a lush lawn. The cost of seeding twice was still much cheaper than sodding. I look forward to seeing Steve and Juan in the spring for our second seeding and to having a beautiful lawn this summer. Thank you Singing Hills!
Description of Work: Our backyard needed to be reseeded and a new sprinkler system and drip line installed. We have a huge backyard (almost 1/4 acre) and wanted over 2500 square feet of lawn to be amended with better soil and then seeded. Steve Kattau managed our project and Juan and his crew worked for several days leveling, trenching, installing the sprinklers, installing roll top edging and applying seed.

I don?t know about you, but hiring a landscape company is a very big deal for me. I have limited income and big dreams. I like the important things done right (and try not to sweat the small stuff). Being a very creative person, it is important to me that there be some flexibility in the process. That said, I used Angie?s list to narrow the field, then got quotes from the top three. Still, I connected with Singing Hills by chance at a landscape materials business. Of course I looked them up on the list? and found only 1 comment, which was decidedly negative. However, I also found that Singing Hills had a good reputation in another review site and they had won at least one significant award. Plus, my personal contact with (owner) Mike Leman left me with a feeling of competence, integrity and responsibility. I decided to ?go with my gut? and proceed forward with Singing Hills. Excellent decision on my part! They have had both the patience and expertise to guide me through the whole project. They helped me cut corners where possible and not endanger my real goals. They went to extra lengths to keep communication open and clear. The project goals were to remove the turf, an overgrown flower garden and a couple of shrubs from the front yard and replaced it with a newer & better flower garden and replace the turf. The rest of the front yard is covered with a weed barrier and tan stones. In the larger back yard, all the turf was removed and 3 drip irrigation flower gardens were put in, compost was added and rototilled into the soil. The extra soil from the front was used to add some variety of height in the back gardens. They also put in high quality, dog safe edging around the gardens. The non-garden areas are covered with a weed barrier and ?breeze? (a dirt & gravel mix commonly used for walkways). It?s awesome! As I am sure you can tell, I am delighted with my landscaping. I found all the folks working at Singing Hills to be very easy and really wonderful to work with. I am, obviously, VERY HAPPY with the results
Description of Work: sprayed lawn to kill grass, rototilled soil, added compost, rototilled again, installed 4 rather garden beds with rolled edges & drip irrigation systems on timer, covered beds with 4 inches mulch, installed stones in friont yard, installed walkways ( with weed barrier) between gardens, put in small sod area and sprinklers, made sure I was satisfied all the way along

I spoke with Steve on Wednesday and he scheduled a tech to come out on Friday morning to repair the copper pipe and replace the back flow valve. Juan showed up promptly as scheduled on Friday morning and starting repairing the pipe and back flow. Once those were replaced we found that there were additional problems where the pvc pipes were leaking. Juan was very good at walking me through what the problem was and approximately how much it would be to repair. He spent 3 hours repairing the system and making sure it worked properly before he left. I thought Juan did a great job and managed to tackle each task in a short period of time. He is definitely well qualified and knows his way around a sprinkler system.
Description of Work: We purchased a foreclosed home and found that the copper pipe for the sprinkler system on the outside of the house was cut and the backflow valve was broken. We needed someone to make the sprinkler system operational.

I contacted Singing Hills Landscaping at the end of March 2013 to arrange an estimate for some landscaping work. The operations manager, Greg Anderson got back to me, and said that Ryan Campbell, of the management team, would be in touch. We arranged a meeting on April 16th. Ryan spent about 45 minutes looking at the property and taking measurements. He said that he would get back to me with an estimate. A couple of weeks went by without any contact from Ryan, so I sent him an email to ask remind him about the estimate. This was on May 3rd. He replied to the email that he had been busy, but would have the estimate to me the following Monday. It is now June 5th, and I haven't heard from him.

Response from Singing Hills Landscape
This customer has a valid complaint in some respects. There was a period in which we failed to contact him aggressively. However, we did communicate regularly and repeatedly through the various stages of the process. The period in which we did not aggressively contact him was during the stage of presenting the final landscape design. During a three week period, we left two voice mails for him but received no response. We did not want to be perceived as hounding him, so did not go further than leaving those messages. It is always difficult for a contractor to know just how “pushy” to be when voice mails are not returned. However, once we became aware of his concerns, (after he posted on Angie’s List rather than calling us) we followed up immediately with further communications, provided an estimate, and ultimately after four months of interaction that included at least 16 instances in which we communicated either by phone, email, or personal meetings, the client informed us that he had decided to do the work himself rather than hire a contractor. We have a long history of providing exceptional customer service, and feel that even with the three week period in which we did not aggressively pursue the client, that we went the extra mile in attempting to meet his needs.
