My first experience with Blaine and his son was very positive. Both were very friendly and communicative. The quote for prep and painting of my roof fascia, window trim, etc., was very reasonable. They got right to the work and from all indications were doing a quality job. The job seemed to take longer, however, than Blaine had planned and as a result things started to get rushed (I think Blaine felt the job could be completed in two days but it took three). For example, one of the doors that was to be sanded and painted was finished very poorly and had to be redone. Even more disturbing was some roof work that I had completed through Blaine in the same time period. I got a quote from him and a business partner and decided to have the work completed. When the business partner showed up to start the job he said that he would need more money to complete it. I was surprised that the quote was being increased after I had agreed to a price. After the work was completed Blaine requested the additional funds, approximately $60, stating that the quote was only an estimate. I didn't agree with that assessment. I was very hopeful at first but the feeling of the job being rushed because of what appeared to be an under estimation and the roof work quote changes left me with a negative experience.
Description of Work: Preparation and painting of roof fascia, exterior window frames and few exterior doors. Minor roof repair to stop a leak.

Very nice people, but their work did not equal their personalities. All work was done on a home office. The drywall repair didn't match the area around it. The painting was fine, but way too expensive. We'd asked for help putting in a new window air conditioner and the installers never even looked at the instructions. They were confused and could not get the installation done without the our help. Date of service is an guess... I know it was summertime of 2010.
Description of Work: Very minor repair to drywall, paint the entire room and install window air conditioner.

Response from RBC Home Repairs & Window Cleaning Services
Hi Member, February 13, 2011 I just read your note and assessment of our work for you. I am very disappointed in your assessment...I do not believe you are telling the whole story by any means and your comments are in my opinion slanderous. Perhaps too much time has gone by...so I will refresh your memory. OFFICE: content manipulation charge - per hour 121.77 detach ceiling fan and light for paint prep and reattach when complete 25.00 reset window drapery - hardware 26.36 floor and furniture protection - tarps tape and plastic film 77.00 re-mediate mold on wall and remove miller moth stains throughout 100.00 ceiling drywall repair - prime, mud and texture 195.00 secure dry wall in 15 areas where nails protrude, punch nails and patch 117.00 prime as needed and paint the walls and ceiling with Ben Moore low voc 543.58 R & R window AC unit 100.00 Materials: caulk, primer, paint, mud and texture 99.00 First, this was an insurance job and the price charged for the work done was reduced (by Member request) from the provision given by the adjuster because "I don't want our premium to go up." The insurance provisions were determined by the insurance adjuster not me. In other words the price for doing the work was set by your insurance company. There was no complaint made to us personally at the time (over 8 months ago) because we did the work for less then was originally agreed upon and provided. We also did additional drywall patches throughout the office that were not part of the original agreement. Second, even though Member told us our dry wall work looked fine before we left there was (truly in Member and my opinion) a need to re-shoot the wall with texture because it was not done up to spec. We agreed to come back and redo the work when we came back for the next phase. Before we could return Member told us he had someone else do the work. There was no mention of any other dissatisfaction with the work that was completed or any of the expenses associated with the work we did at that time. Third, the AC unit was not the same as the one removed nor was the hardware the same. I'm not sure what you mean by "they were confused and could not get the installation done without our help" Member was the only one there and since he was there we simply discussed our adjustments and procedure (with him) for the work to R&R the AC unit and my son and I did all the lifting and securing of the unit. It is not truthful to say we did not look at the instructions and "they needed our help". We did the best we could with the circumstance. There was no mention of any issue with the work being done nor did you have an issue with the final result on any count. Fourth, we had an agreement that I would come back and complete the rest of the work scope (another 3-4 K of work) after the insurance company gave the okay for new portion (addendum) of work I was contracted to do for you. When Member called and told me I could come back (weeks later) I had other jobs I had scheduled and was working on and did not want to leave my current customer in the middle of their project. So, when I called you back to schedule a return to re-texture the office ceiling and start the 2nd phase of work you said you had hired someone else and they did it for less. You broke our agreement and mentioned no other reason then you could not wait for me to return. This, even though I had vested an additional 6-7 hours (including travel time) doing the job of the USAA Insurance Adjuster (helping you with the addendum to your claim) and got no thanks or compensation for my time and effort to help you. I have stated the facts and you have misrepresented them. If I had not promised to come back and re-texture you could complain on that point alone but other wise you have no justifiable position to misrepresent what happened or my business. Sincerely, Blaine
Elena S.

We called Blaine for an estimate. He came by for an estimate the same week. Our 1959 home had not been painted in over 15 years. Many sections of the soffit were rotted and had to be replaced before painting. Blaine gave us a detailed estimate, which included all materials and paint, and we scheduled the job. Blaine arrived on time and got right to work. He power washed the entire house. He replaced the soffit where needed, and sanded all of the wood trim (including enclosed patio, carport and shed). He also refinished those areas that were damaged. Everything was caulked, primed and painted (by brush). The front and back doors were also sanded and painted. All work was completed as scheduled. Blaine's quality of work and attention to detail has brought our home back to life!
Description of Work: Repaired, refinished and painted exterior trim on our home.
