10k and I had to purchase the materials myself. Tile on walls and floor are completely uneven. They didn't remove my old tile floor, they put new tile on top of it and sawed off the bottom of my door. It's completely splintered and they did not fix. Baseboards don't meet floor because nothing was leveled. One tile wall of the bathroom doesn't meet the floor. My tub got damaged. Now I have rusting holes where enamel was damaged and knocked off. They managed to get a drywall screw in my kitchen sink and break my garbage disposal. The wall on the other side of the bathroom is in my bedroom and damaged. Grout was not sealed. Absolutely horrible and I can't afford to fix anything for a while. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I just wanted them out of my house so badly, I just had to let it go. Every day I go into my bathroom and cringe.

It was a horrible experience. He would come in for the job whenever he wanted, and was usually late. He told me it would take 5-6 days and he was there for 10. He was always on the phone. He didn't lay any plastic down or clean anything up. He was there until almost 10pm on a few different nights. He told us he knew how to remove and then reinstall the toilets to lay the tile. The tile looked ok, which was all I cared about at the time. Once the tile was laid he told me he didn't know how to put the doors back on. He said the tile made the floor higher so the bathroom doors would not go back on. He put nicks in all the doors that he removed, I had to hire a painter to repair all the nicks, and someone else to put the doors back. The leak took place immediately, it was discovered two months later after the thorough soaking of the ceiling below the leak because the toilet was not installed back correctly! A plumber had to come out and found that there was mold in our ceiling! We had to call a disaster relief provider to come in and get the mold dried and repaired. We had to have the ceiling refinished and repainted. The whole experience was a nightmare. He laid a decent set of flooring, but everything else was awful. He won't get back with us or the insurance company. I would not recommend him to anyone.

This review is completely false. The only factual information is the fact that the tile was installed professionally (simply because it's evident). It has been 6 months since I worked for this client (I did the job in January 2012), in that time I did not receive a single call or a letter or an email neither from the client nor from their insurance company nor from Angie's List in regards to any of this. I am obviously not hard to find, since Angie's List has all my information and I am responding to this review within just several days it being posted. To address the comment about the doors: before the work was started, I warned the client that the doors will not fit after the tile is installed and I offered them a quote to have the doors cut and reinstalled. The client refused my offer and said they would have it taken care of by a different company more cheaply. That is the last I heard about the doors. So when we did sign the contract, the doors were not in the scope of it at all. As far as the toilet is concerned: the fact is that the client is placing a complaint 6 months after the job was finished and 4 months after the leak was supposedly discovered. If this was in fact the result of my mistake, the client or their insurance company would have contacted me sooner. I refuse to be a made a scapegoat for something that I have no connection with.

We had some issues with water shutoff on the toilet and then on the unit. Youri was patient while I came home and turned the main supply off. Came back after work and job was almost finished, so the water was able to be turned back on in a timely manner. Very fast and good job overall.

The guy that owns that was not good. He was not very informative and I ended up having to pay him a little bit to get out of having to use him. He kept saying that things would be fine and he kept raising him price. I had to pay him for the time that he spent talking to me, but he didn’t do any work. He had the plumber come out and look, but the plumber didn’t realize the extent of what I needed done. It was all just very bizarre.

Unfortunately, this is a case of bizarre and vindictive behavior on the client's behalf, this happens, but luckily happens very rarely. There are several points I would like to address: 1. Whether or not I am good, the client can only judge upon the completion of the job and we never even started the job. At the same time, if I was indeed not good, why would she have signed the contract in the first place? (I never start without signing a contract, since it protects both parties). My contract payment terms include 10% down-payment upon contract signing, 30% upon work being started and the final 60% upon job completion. 2. When my plumber came out to look at the project, she demanded that he does the job that was clearly not part of the service outlined in the agreement. The plumber informed me about it and I told him not to proceed with any work not covered by the contract. I believe that this lady simply wanted something done for free and wanted to take advantage of us. When I offered to include the additional service in the agreement, she refused. These are the facts (I have the signed contract in my file).

I had all kinds of problems with that guy. First of all I had a problem getting in contact with him. He just didn't show up for one appointment. I called him back. That should have been a warning sign to me, but he had gotten a bunch of positive ratings from other Angie's List people so I went ahead and contacted him again. He is a little bit bizarre. When I asked for an estimate, he gave me an estimate for the tile work and then he told me that he also needed to charge me for the materials. That should have been a warning sign too. I should have gotten an all inclusive bid. He went out and bought a whole bunch of stuff that supposedly was going to be used to do the work at my house, but he didn't use anything that he purchased. He had a bunch of old material, huge buckets of stuff that he had been using for months. All he did was he upped the cost by nearly $200.00. He initially said that the material wouldn't cost more than $100.00 and it came out to $190.00. He made a terrible mess in my house. He had to do a lot of cutting of the tile to make it fit. He asked if he could use his tile cutting thing inside the kitchen where the work was being done. I told him I didn't like that idea because I didn't want fine pieces of granite all over the house. He told me he was using a wet saw so there would be no dust going anywhere. As it turns out, there was dust all over the house. I had a brand new kitten that went and got that granite on her paws and got scratches and I ended up having to take her to the vet. He left a huge mess of black stuff all over the walls in two of the bathrooms. He was a disaster as far as I am concerned. The actual tile work was acceptable but all those other things make him a lousy person to do business with. I think the price was a bit high because of the extra nearly $200.00 that I should have been smart enough not to pay but I did. The price was bad. He was on time when he actually showed up for work, but he didn't show up for one of his scheduled meetings to give an estimate.
Description of Work: I had Quality Home Improvement Company put in some granite tile in my kitchen about three or four months ago.

Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it. I would like to address a couple of points however: 1. This client's house required a 3 hr drive one way for me, so I initially wanted to turn this customer down, but he insisted I take the job obviously based on the many excellent reviews that allowed me to win Super Service Awards from Angies List both in 2009 and 2010. The estimate I provided included the surcharge to account for the time and expense associated with the distance I had to drive and while that made the bid higher than my normal price, it was far from high. 2. The always provide estimates with separate costs for labor and auxiliary materials, this is done in the name of full disclosure, so that each customer knows what they pay for. Auxiliary materials were in fact purchased, everything else is heresay. 3. I use a top of the line wet saw which produces absolutely no dust, however the customer failed to mention that before installing the tile, we also did the demolition and it was the demo that produced the debris and while I made every attempt to clean up after it, post-demolition cleanup was the responsibility of the homeowner. 4. Member failed to mention that in spite of everything I did 'poorly', he asked me to do another project for him and when I provided the estimate, he followed up with me about it repeatedly trying to lower the price. This continued for almost 4 months and when I again refused to lower what was a fair price, Member posted this review.

We are very pleased with Youri's services. He did a beautiful job on the shower and floor tiling, and the work seems to be of excellent, long-lasting quality. He was honest, straightforward, gave a clear estimate, and explained exactly what he was doing each step of the way. We originally called Youri because our shower was leaking, presumably because of a cracked shower pan. The original plan was to re-do the shower only. However, we pulled up the carpet and discovered that the bathroom floor tile was in terrible condition and needed to be replaced. Once we were re-tiling the floor, we decided to replace the old vanity and ancient toilet, as well as remove the wall tiles and wallpaper and just paint the walls instead. Youri gave us a price for the labor - materials were additional. (The amount that I wrote we paid for the work is labor only.) The original estimate was just for the shower, but when we decided to remodel the rest of the bathroom, he created a new estimate for us, and that was what he charged - no more, no less. Youri gave us specifications for the tile we should purchase, and we went to the store to choose it and buy it. We may have been better off going to the store with him, since some of the tile that we bought was different from what he recommended and he felt that he couldn't work with it. That was pretty much the only "bump" along the way in our communication/relationship.(I paid an additional $50 for him to go and purchase the parts we were then missing, but I felt it was well worth it.) Youri had another worker finish the job of plastering, priming and painting the walls. At the end of the project, we were in a bit of a rush, and that may be why the plaster is not perfectly smooth beneath the paint. Other than that, the job Youri did is really meticulous and high quality! His estimate of time for the job was right on too. He completed the project in a very timely manner. We are recommending him to all our friends.

We decided on travertine in light brown. Four different tile stores were visited and we were not happy with any of them. To be sure there was enough selection we bought 50% more than needed ($600). We also paid for the backerboard and other materials ($200). Youri was very good about contacting us, answering our questions, arriving on time and finishing promptly. I did have a problem understanding him on the phone but my wife could tell me what he said. In retrospect we probably should have engaged him to help us select the tile.
Description of Work: Youri worked with us to decide on the type of tile, size, etc. He sorted the tile (natural stone) and picked which ones to use. He installed the backerboard, laid the tile, grouted the tile and applied the sealer.

Youri was professional the first 95% of the time. Calls were answered and returned promptly, he stuck to his original quote and didn't charge more for the project. He arrived on time and called when he was running late. Overall a wonderful contractor to deal with and he does a BEAUTIFUL job on tile! However, he didn't cover our 3 week old brand new Corian countertops at the start of the job and ultimately scratched them in several places. Not just a small scratch, several large scratches on all the counters. When we talked with him about it, he denied it. Sadly, this is where the professionalism ended and among his excuses were that the scratches were already there, the sealer brought out the scratches and he asked why we would buy counters that could scratch so easily. Very disappointing. Though, he was responsible and did contact his insurance company at our house to file a claim to which we were pleased with that. Though, the repair on the counters is a far messier process than the whole kitchen remodel. We would have recommended him and rehired for future projects if he had simply admitted that he had made a mistake.

Yuri was very professional and honest since day one. He gave us the best bid of all and we were more relaxed since he had great reviews. Yuri was great. We moved from Houston to Denver and we could not find a good tiler for 3 years now. Actually we had a bad experience with few contractors in Denver (painters, tilers and wood floor installers). We could not believe how much of a hard worker he is and the professionalism he demonstrated. He also was very polite and courteous. In this day and age it seems a rare thing to find somebody especially a contractor who can simply do the job with no fuss and drama. He also helped us all along to make some decisions about the bathroom remodeling and had great suggestions. He also took the time to explain to us each step. A quality, fast and clean job for a great price. He did the job in 2 days only and he cleaned up thoroughly before leaving. I already asked him to come back to remodel my kitchen. I highly recommend his Quality Improvement Company. A+++++

Excellent! Youri is prompt, friendly and a very talented tile layer. He brought photos of other projects he'd finished to give us an idea of how he might lay the tiles out. It's very decorative and size-appropriate for the space. It turned out better than expected. He did all of this work in one day, and left our home cleaner than what he found it. We are very pleased with the finished room and are so happy to have found such a resource as Youri. Will absolutely go to him with future tiling needs.

Yuri is easy to work with; ready to offer advice on where money can be saved; his labor cost was significantly less than other estimates, but he did quality work. Maybe not white glove, perfect service, but I'd certainly hire him again. He advised in the quality of various tiles; I hauled the tile home and helped unload it, but partly because of what he was charging for labor, I was happy to do it.

Overall went very well. The estimate was good and less than others. It took three days to do the work, including tear-out of the old floor, intallation and grouting. The quality of the installation was very high-end and professional looking. My one regret is that we did not get a higher-end tile that looked nicer. I wish that we had spent more time looking at other tiles and maybe going to other tile stores, but ultimately that is not his issue and it is my responsibility.

We found Youri to be very hardworking, professional, punctural, detail oriented. He does very high quality work at a good price. His estimate of the time necessary was accurate and he several times worked 12 hour days. Other contractors quoted up to twice his price.
Description of Work: Youri tiled around a bath, tiled the laundry/powder room floor, tiled the master bath floor and changed our old large tub to a wonderful walk-in shower. The floors were done very expertly and the shower surround looks great. He brought in a plumber to gut the old master bath-tub/wall tiles and replace the plumbing, drain and shower floor. The large shower was done in travertine...12" tiles up to 4 1/2 ' level, then a frieze, then a chair rail, then 6" tiles set on diagonal up to ceiling. A darker travertine was used to frame all edges. Details included a seat and 2 toiletry shelves. It looks great!

The whole experience was great! I have been planning to have the tile in our bathroom changed for quite some time. We got Youri's phone number from a neighbor, whose house he just finished working on. Youri was very responsive, set up an appointment immediately, and was always on time. He really did a great job!. I have already recommended him to a friend. Youri had a lot of great advice on the design and general layout. He is a true craftsman and pays a lot of attention to detail, you can tell that he likes his work and takes pride in it. He definitely exceeded my expectations.
