PROTECTIVE COATINGS

Service was delayed one day due to 80 mph wind in the area all day when it was originally scheduled. Owner Martin McDonald called twice and stopped by once to confirm reschedule, then showed up with his crew as promised the next day and did a super job. My wife is very particular about getting any spillage on the flower bed rocks and terraces, but the seal coat edges were as neat as an interior trim painter would do, and my wife even said they did a good job.

After I placed a phone call to the company, the company owner arrived later that day to quote the job. The quote was accepted that day, the owner stated they would perform the work the next day starting at 9:00 am. Protective Coatings arrived at the jobsite promptly at 9:00 am on the day promised. Protective Coatings edged the driveway using a gas powered weed whacker to remove vegetation that had overgrown the driveway. A high powered blower (gasoline engine, professional model) was used to remove debris from the driveway. Rubberized sealant was applied to localized cracks in the asphalt. Two coats of oil based sealant (RS-90) applied to the asphalt driveway (The driveway had never been coated in it's 8 years of existence). Plastic barrier tape was installed at the end of the driveway to prevent vehicles from inadvertently driving on the freshly applied sealant. Company owner coordinated with myself before leaving the jobsite to collect payment and review the job the work performed. Plastic barrier tape was removed by customer after the recommended drying time of 8 hours. Overall the job was more expensive that what I was originally thinking, but with the use of an oil based product on the asphalt, the current price of oil ($140/barrel), and the driveway requiring 2 coats (due to age of the driveway and the driveway never being previous sealed) the cost was most likely appropriate. I think the work done will definitely preserve the asphalt driveway for years to come.
