This Job was not completed to my satifaction as promised... Thomas Campbell gave me a quote and a written estimate of $5045.00 to do all of the exterior painting and adding a cover to the existing patio and painting the wooden part of the deck. The contract stated that he'd be done in approx. three weeks and that I was to pay $2018.00 down and $3027.00 upon completion. He seemed very detailed and professional in the beginning as the contract stated that he would be using a certain kind of paint. Thomas, his father, son and nephew would show up only four days a week and work approx. 3-5 hours per day. His fifteen year old son did a little work, his twenty-five yr. old nephew did most of the work, and his father just sat around like he wanted to get out of the house. After the first week Thomas put in some canned lights and wrote a new contract for $450.00.....I reluctantly paid him and told him I thought this was part of the "original" contract. After a couple of weeks with absolutly no sense of urgency or end in sight Thomas asked for and additional $500.00 advance, which I reluctantly paid. Within twenty-four hours he asked for another $500.00 saying he couldn't afford the shake shingles to finish the cover on the patio. At this time I told him I would pay him when he was finished with the job. He did not show up for a couple of days so I thought maybe he had quit and I was hoping he did. But, he somehow got the money for the shingles and put them on the patio cover and asked me to walk the house and did some touch up painting. The contract stated he would be using Sherwin Williams Super Paint. On Aug. 25,the last day he worked on my house, I asked him point blank if he was using the Sherwin Williams Super Paint and he said YES. He seemed to be getting quite annoyed but insisted that he would not "leave" for good until I was completely satisfied. He said he was going out of town and needed to pay "his guys." I very reluctantly paid him $2800.00 on August 25. because I felt bad for his nephew that seemed to be doing most of the work. Thomas promised to come back and finish the job on the following Tuesday Aug 29. I was leaving town but my mother was here and he had access to the house. He left a huge mess and six ladders in my yard. I attemped to clean it up a little (this is when i discovered the paint was in fact Olympic paint from Lowes.) I also used the garden hose to spray the wooden deck he painted and the paint came off! I doubt if he even spent $1000.00 in materials since the osb board looked used. Thomas did not show up on Tues. to finish the work as promised but rather on Wednesday to pick up one ladder. (My mother texted me in Hawaii) At that time I texted Thomas from Hawaii and told him about the patio paint coming off and asked him why he was not finished. He said he couldn't come Tues.Aug 29 because he was on standby.....OK, I know I should never have paid him until he was finished, but it gets worse. After a lot of texting Thomas said he would come and finish the job on Tues.Sept.13.but he never showed up. The following day he texted me and said he couldn't make it on Thursday and wanted a solid time the following week. What? I told him our meeting was on Tuesday and he didn't need me to be there to see what needed to be done. It is very obvious that this job is incomplete and I have the pictures to prove it. He said he needed a firm date the following week. Not sure what the game is because I don't need to be here to show him what is wrong and he never shows up when he says he will anyway. It was raining that very evening and when I came home from work I discovered that the patio cover was leaking like a seive. I sent Thomas pictures of this and told him he had until Sept.23 to fix ALL of the problems or I would take action he didn't respond. Thomas showed up on Sept. 23 , but didn't do any work.
Description of Work: Paint the exterior of my house and tear off old pergula and put a new cover on my patio.
