My 86 yr old father was looking for [quotes only] as he was interested in gutter protection, [unbeknownst to my son and me]. "Bill", a salesman for the company, came out and got my dad to sign a contract to the tune of $8,247.00!!! (Upon looking into these types of gutter guards, the average price for an average house is $1500-$2200 so this seemed extremely expensive.) Anyway, a contractor showed up the very next day and started assembling these gutter guards. My son happened to show up and immediately stopped the contractor when he saw the price. The contractor then called the salesman who immediately called my dad and cut the price in half. That is correct. You read that right. The salesman cut the price in half as soon as he had been found out. Upon reading the contract, it was stated that you had 3 days to cancel BUT if the gutter guards had already been installed, then you couldn't cancel. That is why the contractor had been sent out the very next day. This salesman wanted these gutter guards installed as quickly as possible so that my dad couldn't change his mind! My son sent the contractor home and immediately wrote up a letter of cancellation, my dad signed and dated, and it was sent to the office listed on the contract along with a tracking number. It arrived at their office this very morning (all within the 3 business day cancellation policy). At this time, I just wanted to put his out there because I am offended that a salesman was willing to charge an 86yr old man more then 4x the amount and try to hurry and get it done before it could be cancelled. The company may be legit and have a good product but they will never get our business due to the tactics of the salesman who represents them. Awful!
Description of Work: They were supposed to install gutter guards to the existing gutters and do any repairs they thought necessary.

I'm very disappointed with the service department of this company. First the gutters were installed incorrectly, not under the drip edge and the down spout in the wrong place. The installer admittedly said he didn't look at the drawings before installing. Took about 5 or 6 phone calls to get a response from the service department. The installer left a mess around the house leaving sharp pieces of down spout and gutter, nails, screws around the yard and house. My dog was cut by one of these pieces left in the backyard. At first they said to send them the vet bills and they would take care of it, which I have sent to them. However, I've not been able to get a response or reimbursement from their service department despite several phone calls, voicemails and emails. They finally fixed the down spout and installed gutters under the drip edge but that's it so far. These are pricey gutters and I would expect much better customer service. I would expect my animals not to be injured by discarded sharp pieces of metal causing emergency vet bills and time off work to have many follow up visits to the vet.

After further online research and finding that our experience seems to echo the experiences of so many others in regard to LeafFilter’s questionable business practices we felt we needed to share. We are not seeking a resolution to an issue. We consider ourselves very fortunate we did not give them any money and that they did not modify our gutters. There are numerous online reviews of truly terrible work and then little or no customer service. What is frightening is this does not seem limited to a “bad office” in Denver, but seems to be corporate-wide culture. 3/09/19 – We saw a LeafFilter display at the Home Remodeling show in COS. We arranged for an in-home estimate. 3/11/19 – Salesperson (Adam) came to our house, gave the sales demo, and measured gutter linear footage on our house and detached garage. After providing separate estimates for the house and garage, we signed an agreement of purchase # DEN04235 for $1730.00 to install LeafFilter on our garage. We thought we would see how it worked on the garage before doing our 1930s home. We made no down payment. Terms were that we would pay upon completion of the work. We made an appointment for installation on the following day. NOTE: Salesperson never actually got on a ladder to inspect our gutters. We have a rather steep (12/12) pitched roof. During the demo, we asked Adam, ‘with our steep roof and shingle overhang, is this really going to fit’? Adam assured us there would be no issue after they align and adjust our gutters. We had our garage built 12 years ago. The gutters (professionally installed) are still perfectly aligned and need no repair. The roof was replaced 2 years ago with hail-resistant, asphalt shingles and is in very good condition. 3/12/19 - Installer (Mark) arrived promptly to begin the installation. Mark soon found that he could not install LeafFilter on our existing garage gutters. The product is designed to sit on top of the gutter with an edge fitted under the drip-edge of the shingles. Our gutters do not have enough space available to install the product the way it was designed. This is the exact issue we questioned Adam about. Mark (who claimed to be “their best installer”) first offered a solution of removing (slicing off) the overhang from our shingles in order to gain enough room for the installation. We knew that would void our roof warranty and would most probably lead to serious water damage issues. LeafFilter’s own literature specifically states ‘You should NEVER ever disturb your shingles or roof’; ‘Shingles are designed to be installed and never disturbed’; ‘Major shingle manufacturers agree, any alteration or equipment addition will void your warranty’. We declined. His next suggestion was to increase the size of (replace) the fascia boards on the garage in order to gain more room to drop our gutters enough to install the product. He did not have the needed materials or tools for that and said we would need to reschedule. Shortly after Mark left, we received a call from Adam. Adam said he wanted to discuss the additional cost for the fascia work. We stated that this is the exact issue we brought up during the demo where he claimed there would be no problem. We also mentioned this was supposed to be a firm price contract. When we said something about “sounds like bait and switch”, we were disconnected. 3/13/19 – We called Adam to cancel the contract. He stated he could not help us with the cancellation and that we needed to call the corporate office. We called the corporate office. They stated they would send a cancellation notice to the Denver office. We asked for a copy and were told that we would receive a call from a manager in the Denver office as soon as they receive the notice from her. They would then be able to provide us with a copy of the cancellation. We noted many other online reviews complaining of this same ‘game’ of phone tag… you are told to call the corporate office, they say they will contact the local office and then you hear nothing. It seems you are always passed off and no one can give you a straight answer. Shortly after, we received a call from Jordan and he asked for someone of a different name saying he was calling from LeafFilter about an installation today. We said we were expecting a call regarding our contract cancellation. Instead, he asked if he could come out and inspect our property to see what he could do. We said no, we were not interested and simply wish to cancel the contract. Per the purchase agreement, we mailed a written cancellation notice to the Denver office. We still have received no confirmation. 3/15/19 - Received a call from the ‘Operations Manager’ at LeafFilter. He said that he heard we had a problem with our installation and he called to tell us what he was going to do to solve the issue. We again said that our contract was cancelled and we are not interested in doing business with them and hung up. 3/18/19 – We posted this information with the Colorado Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section, Denver BBB, and TrustPilot. 3/19/19 – In response to our posting at the BBB and TrustPilot we received a call from Roger Moore, Regional Operations Manager at LeafFilter. He apologized for our experience. I asked him to delete our contact information and to never contact us again. We edited our post at TrustPilot to include: “We feel LeafFilter may be committing consumer fraud. We have filed a complaint with Colorado Consumer Protection and have contacted several Denver media outlets. We strongly encourage others who are not completely satisfied with their LeafFilter experience to do the same.” We received an email from TrustPilot stating LeafFilter challenged our review, stating ‘[*** Link removed ***] has reported your review because they don’t believe you’ve had a genuine buying or service experience. Reported reviews are temporarily moved offline.” The review is currently removed from TrustPilot. We have emailed TrustPilot the signed copy of our contract with LeafFilter.

The installation was done on time, as scheduled, and very efficiently. The installers were courteous and worked very carefully. I was concerned about safety on a rather high portion of the roof, so they honored my concern by only using ladders, rather than working from the roof above the gutter. The installation is very attractive when viewed from above and nearly invisible when viewed from the street. I have not yet had experience with its ability to prevent debris accumulation, nor for its ability to direct water into the gutter. So I will need to comment on that after the next major rain and/or snowfall accumulation. The only reason for a "B" on the price is that it is rather expensive, compared with gutter cleaning, of course. I have not had the opportunity to compare it extensively with other gutter protection techniques. That said, if it works as advertised, it will be more than worth the price!
Description of Work: I initially just wanted gutter cleaning. However, the rep who came to estimate convinced me of the importance of a system to protect gutters from clogging that would preclude future cleaning needs. I was very impressed with the technology, so I decided to have the installation.

I would never hire this company. We talked with them at their booth at the Colorado Home and Garden Show. We received a call a few days later and set up the appointment to get an estimate for gutter guards and possibly painting work. To start with the representative was about 20 minutes late. He completed the initial measurements and we sat down to discuss the product and cost. He informed me that they do not offer any painting services and never have even though the representative at the show booth assured us that they would. During the presentation the rep told me that they were an Angies List preferred vendor. I was unable to locate them on Angies List. I later called Angies List and they included them so we could write a review. After the presentation the rep gave me a bid of $5076. I told him that was too high. He then started the "used car salesman approach" and dropped the price to $3950. I told him that still sounded high and that I had other companies coming out to provide bids and would let him know. That did not go over well, he then provided a bid of $2950 if he could have a crew on site the following monday. If I wanted that price I had to sign up that day, it would not be good after he left. That raised a red flag, so I said no thanks and that if I changed my mind I would call. He said he was not authorized to provide that price after that day. I told him that I assume his supervisor or the company owner could authorize it. He was upset and responded "oh your going over my head huh". He then closed up his case and left. I would definitely stay away from these guys. I found another top rated company on Angies List. The price was better, the product superior, no pressure and they did an outstanding job

First, we had someone come out who said that they didn't have the right ladders for the job and they sent someone else later in the week. That person (not naming names) did such a poor install on the gutters they got to that day that those gutters had to be replaced because they were so damaged. They also refused me when I asked them to get off of my roof until I heard back from the main office. It's my home, I say get off my roof, you do that. After everything was finally installed, we got a heavy rain and water just came pouring over one of the gutters instead of in it and one was installed in such a way that they lifted my shingles and left a gap where bees could get it. In their defense, they did talk me through the problems, they did make right on the destroyed gutters, and they did send someone out to deal with the leaking and poorly installed filter. They did end out George to look at the problems and come up with a solution to the issues and they dealt well with me, even when I lost my temper. They are a pretty new office and they all admit that they need more training to get things up to speed. I hope they do and that I am the anomaly.
