He advertised $50 to simply clean the gutters. He did that but of course, found this, that and the other wrong, and so the next thing, the price is up to $70. Then, he said he wanted to sell me blinds to fit my windows, from his father's identical condo down the street. He said they were cut to fit, and he'd sell the blinds for $20 apiece, and install for $20 apiece. I agreed. He brought the blinds over, dumped them in my living room and said he'd be back in a week to install them. When he got back, he jacked up the install price to $40 apiece, and informed me that oops, they really aren't cut to fit. I then said "wrong price, wrong size; I don't want them then, and he could come back and get them", and he got very, very angry. He wanted me to give him the code to my garage so he had access to my house, ande when I declined to share that, he got angrier. Complicating matters, when I gave him the original check, my bank boo-booed and sent me a note saying they couldn't accept my check stock and I'd have to order new checks. This was a mistake on my bank's part, but I called Brian right away and told him to have his bank ACH the funds directly from the check since there was lots of money in my account. He said he already had his cash and the bank wouldn't come get him. Well, a week later they DID come get him, and allegedly charged him a fee. My bank said, their error, they'd pay the fee if I'd give them the bank's notice from Brian's bank. I paid Brian the fee in cash and he was supposed to give me his bank notice. He declined to do that. I don't know if his bank charged him a fee or not, but he got paid an extra $15, or $85 for a $50 job. It's a long story to say Brian took cash which didn't belong to him. So - he doesn't charge what he advertises; he is not insured, licensed, or bonded; he told me an untruth about his bank charges; he told me an untruth about stuff he wanted to install in my house; he wouldn't give me a receipt for the cash I gave him; he has a fiery temper and he wants unlimited and unsupervised access to my house. SCARY. The money is piddling, that's not the issue - but don't ever let an unlicensed, unbonded worker in your house, especially if they have a bad temper.
