Since 2004, Daniel's Landscape & Design has been serving the Colorado Front Range and beyond. We have been the leader in custom, high quality design of landscapes and outdoor living spaces. Drawing on our knowledge and experience, we create exquisite landscapes and beautiful outdoor environments, always catering to our clients needs and helping to bring to life their landscaping and outdoor living space ideas to fruition.
I am sad to say the quality of work performed by this company has diminished greatly. We had Daniel's company install a wall & flagstone patio for us almost 20 years ago. The wall is still in great shape and the patio does show signs of weathering but otherwise still in good shape. However, in 2021 we asked Daniel back to install another flagstone wall and patio. We had a few issues with the install design not being the agreed-upon design but in the end, they did an acceptable job even though we felt they rushed the job. In less than a year the wall is severally cracked and the patio has several major cracks. He also installed 2 steps in which one step is now loose. We have pictures to back up our claims. We called Daniel 2 times and emailed several times. His office had scheduled an appointment for him to come out and look at the issues. He never showed. They are no longer returning our calls or emails. I can not recommend a company that does not stand behind its work.
Just moved into a new build (second in as many years) and Daniel and his crew far exceeded my expectations both in value and quality. It's refreshing to work with a team that knows what they are doing and care about quality. The work included a 10' CO Spruce, 10' Bosnian, three 18' multi-stem Aspen's and four other trees in addition to shrubs, sod, irrigation, concrete, mulch, rock and so on.

Daniel came. Was very polite and responsive. Gave me a ballpark estimate and said he could fit it in easily and to just give him a call. I gave him a call. He never got back to me. Enough said.

Good experience overall. We finished the work late in the season so looking forward to seeing the spring bloom. Rob was very willing to work with us to match our budget with the design we wanted and helped me figure out how to filll in some gaps. The crew was great onsite and were respectful and professional.

Working with Daniel's Landscaping initially went well. They came out immediately for an estimate and they were excellent in helping me refine the design for my yard. (It should be noted, the person with whom I worked on this has since left the company.) Once the design was completed they never gave me a date for when they would start. They just showed up one day, completely unannounced. The crew worked very fast and the yard was done in just a few days. It looked very good. However, they didn't install some of the plants on the design. They did come back out and half-way fixed the situation by putting in some of the requested plants. Then the real problems with Daniel started. After living with the yard for a while I realized some of the larger rocks placed (as was designed) needed to be moved; they were just too close to the driveway. After several months, this still hasn't been fixed. I've called Daniel several times. Getting in touch is problematic, but eventually he did come out and I explained what I wanted done (all warranty work, too). He told me he'd have a crew back out to move the rocks. Three or so months later, the crew still has never showed up. I've tried calling Daniel several times, leaving voice messages. He has just stopped returning my calls. I've given up and now have to use a different contractor to move these rocks. Bottom line, the customer service is lousy at best. I wish I had spent more and used a different contractor.
the backyard came out beautiful and even better of what we were expecting.
Description of Work: Daniel is very professional. He took the time to understand our needs and our space. He designed a beautiful backyard and fire pit. The work was very fast and we love the results.

Daniel came out for an estimate - he was punctual, professional and listened to what I wanted to do and gave some suggestions as well. My impression from the company is that smaller jobs are not a priority, and I get that. Any communication, whether returning a voicemail, email or text, was a minimum of 3 days and often longer. I also reduced the scope of what I wanted done after the initial estimate but they didn't change the quote price. My follow up questions weren't ever addressed after the estimate either - just went radio-silent. I'ts been 8 days now and I've still not heard back from them. Again, very nice guy, but I think for smaller jobs you won't be given much attention because, apparently, demand is high right now and whoever is working the phones/email either very busy, doesn't care, or is not in tune with potential customer needs. If you have a larger project $15K+, you may have a different experience than I had.
The worst. Once they completed the work, they never followed up on the warranty, so we had bricks falling off walls, trees were never planted, plants were dying.
Description of Work: We had them complete a new landscape project, which was suppose to include a 2 year warranty.
The original work was completed quickly, but follow up never happened. Each time we try to call or contact them about the warranty items, they never answer the phone or return on emails/text messages. Basically we're stuck with what we have now. I've included several photos of their "workmanship" The problems include: - Poor sprinkler system installation. The sprinkler system was installed, but it is not adequate for the landscape projects. We have many patches that never get water. They came back a few times after the installation to check on it, adjusted things, but that never helped. - Poor workmanship on stone work. You can see in the pictures where the stones are just simply falling off the the wall. - Trees dying or blowing over. They installed trees, and some are dying and others are just getting blown over. These should be covered by warranty, but they don't care anymore now that they've taken our money. Basically these guys are crooks, they take your money and do not deliver. If you want to pour a lot of money into a landscape project and get bad work or no followup, they by all means use Daniels. if you want quality work, reliability, and someone who will follow through with what is on the contract, then find someone else. We're now having to finish the project ourselves, do our own fix up of their mess. What a pain!
Description of Work: We purchased a new house and we needed a full landscape project completed. Daniel's Landscaping promised us on the contract a full 2 year warranty on all items.
It didn't. I clicked on their offer because I had some landscaping issues that I hoped a "professional" would be able to help me solve. $100 seemed a good price for having them come out, consult and then submit for the work. After I submitted the 3-6 scheduled time options asked in this offer I received one call asking that I call back - not telling which of the 6 times and days they could make it. When I did, I got their voicemail. No follow up. After a few months of no follow up I requested a refund. No follow up. Enjoy my $100 guys - you lost a whole lot more by not being professional enough to even call back. With so many quality landscapers out there why put up with thieves like theses bozos?
Description of Work: Side and back yard landscaping reconfigured; looking to install new walkway, gardens and plantings. Re configuring some irrigation.
Daniels crew is fast! I do not know if I have ever seen people work harder. They all love what they do and you can tell they take pride working for Daniels Landscaping It only took 3 weeks and not every day of those 3 weeks. I had a couple of issues with the sprinkler system at first and it was handled professionally and quick. I had an issue with the lights and they were fixed within the week. I am really happy I went with Daniels Landscaping. I will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Daniel really knows how to design an area that may be difficult. He came to do a quote on my Denver property with 2 units. One unit sits back from the other and the address is hard to see. I also had two 30-40 foot Blue Spruce trees that went all the way to the ground and took over the original sidewalk. Daniel came up with a really nice way to have both addresses on one custom built stone pillar that is lite up and combined it with 2 others to light the off-set stepping stones that were stamped concrete and end up with 2 paths, one to each unit. The Spruce trees were skirted up about 3 feet and enclosed in a framed out area and filled with pebble rock. It looks absolutely amazing. The trees really look happy and contribute to the overall beauty of the design. They really fit the area and will be able to continue to grow huge. The newly sodded grass in the front is so plush and green. I also had a irrigation system installed. I wanted a small section of grass as I feel all rocks and bushes seems harsh. The area between the sidewalk and the street is always a tough one and Daniel came up with a super low maintenance functional solution. Giant slabs of stamped concrete between xeriscape plants. See photos at end. I also had a back yard that was unusable with an old shed on a concrete pad and a sloping grass area that was impossible to mow or water. I wanted it to be easy maintenance and usable. Daniel designed a beautiful retreat in the back for relaxation, dinners and corporate cocktail parties. The shed was removed and the grounds were leveled up to the best height to do a sitting wall that surrounds the hand-stamped 2-tone concrete patio outlined in wood. Bushes and xeriscape plants on a soaker line were planted surrounding the porch and plants and round pebble gravel to fill. patio against the back of the garage wall for the final touch. All sidewalks were torn out and replaced with the two-tone stamped concrete in the back for consistency with the front.
My yard was completed on 9/13 and all the neighbors are jealous ! The transformation is incredible. I have privacy from the street, an outdoor fireplace with built in seating on each side, extended patio for entertaining and a tranquil waterfall. The trees and flowers are gorgeous ! Daniel and his crew were punctual and friendly. He assisted me with getting the design approved with the HOA which took the stress off of me. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs landscaping done ! I cannot wait to enjoy my yard with friends and family for years to come ! Thank you Daniel and crew! The Sosa Family
Description of Work: I hired Daniel's Landscape and Design to install both the front and backyard landscaping. I did not know exactly what I wanted but Daniel and his architect came out and helped me design the perfect plan that would fit my space and my family's needs. I was impressed right away with their professionalism and promptness.

Not terribly impressed with the responsiveness or the end product. The landscape design only included the front yard and was obtained with only superficial discussion about what was wanted. Was no direct contact with the person who actually completed the design, which made it even harder to meet our expectations. Also, the quote received was several thousand dollars more than we thought was reasonable.
Description of Work: Landscape design and quote for clean-up of long-neglected yard, including removal of 10 inch layer of yard to clear of many sapling stumps/roots, as well as hauling and replacement with topsoil and sod.
At first I thought it was going to go well. Within 6 months I am having to hire other contractors to repair and redo the sprinkler system The yard was not prepared well for seeding and almost nothing is growing. I paid $3000 for the prep and seeding and it is a disaster. The original group at Daniel's disbanded and no one seems to be willing to assume responsibility and take care of the issues. Essentially the experience has been the nightmare you read about . I am interviewing new landscapers to fix the work that was not done well.. Most just shake their heads and comment that they are amazed that anything is growing.
Description of Work: I needed to have landscape done for the yard at our new home.

It went terribly! We created a very specific plan of what was to take place. Later, they tweaked the design without consulting me. Rob and Gary asked for a down payment + 50% down, which I agreed to do. They were late or didn't show up at all on several occasions. The crew scraped the side of my house during the work, which they later denied. The crew also broke a brick and then lied about it (I had to ask about the broken brick before they acknowledged the damage. In response, they said they glued the brick back into the house, but I have video showing how the brick was not glued into the side of the house). They didn't program the sprinkler system and they also installed a faulty sprinkler head. I had to figure out how to install the sprinkler system myself (via Google). They didn't fix the faulty sprinkler head for a week. As result, portions of my new sod weren't getting water and ultimately died. The crew finally fixed the sprinkler head, but they didn't replace the dead sod. I was told, "it'll grow back". I have weeds growing already, and the sod is not growing back in the time frame they gave me. Both patios have several chipped pavers that aren't level. They didn't have the paver color I wanted, but said they had a close match. It turned out to be completely different from what I had originally wanted. They have been consistently unresponsive and have even tried to blame me for the poor quality of their work. They were supposed to come over to fix the issues with my project today (this is the third time they were supposed to "personally finish" the project), and no one showed-up. I had to call them for a status update and was given several excuses regarding why they couldn't be here today. They are over 2 weeks past their projected finish date. They continually asked me for the remainder of my payment before the job was done even though our contract specifically stated I wasn't to pay in-full job until the job was completed. To top it all off, after taking my down payment and after I signed our contract, they informed me that they aren't even the company that they claim to be on Angie's List! After doing some research, I learned that the project manager for "Daniel Landscaping", Arturo Gonzales, is actually the owner of Outdoor Design Colorado - the company they later disclosed actually be!

Terrible. After numerous unreturned calls and one no show appointment, they did not show up on the designated day to do the work. Soon after the flagstone and cement patio extension were completed, the flag stone and cement patio extension separated from the concrete porch area. I contacted a representative of Daniel's Landscape and Design to request repairs. They did not respond to my original or numerous phone calls until 14 days after the initial call. A call I placed to request the company to honor their warranty. Below is an email I received from the company basically telling me that my job is not important and that it is only a "cosmetic" problem so they didn't have a pressing need to come out and address and fix the problem in a timely manner. Please note that the initial contract to put in a retaining wall, capping of existing concrete porch area and the cement patio extension were all "cosmetic." We never had a structural need. I am including an excerpt from their email to us responding to our concerns so that you can see how they will address your concerns and how they will treat you as a customer. The following is part of the email we received from Daniel's Landscaping and Design: "The basis for your dispute is frivolous and without merit. Nonetheless, the following is provided for your informational purpose so that you can make an "educated" choice going forward rather than insisting that it is Daniel's responsibility to resolve this dispute beyond honoring his warranty and facilitating your repairs. Your hairline cracks were not of a structural nature and were cosmetic only. There was NOT a pressing need to come out there immediately to address them as they would have been addressed. We have NEVER not taken care of a warranty issue. We are not going to start with you regardless of the way in which you have conducted yourself throughout our dealings. While you would not recommend using our service, I'm confident that the feeling is reciprocated. We would not recommend to another contractor that they work for you."
Description of Work: 1. Build 1.5" red strip stone retaining wall for thickened edge of flagstone and cement patio extension. Includes capping exiting concrete porch area using red select flag stone and cement. Build red flagstone and cement walkway from driveway area to front porch area including (2) steps. 2. Install bluegrass blend sod and amend soil as necessary for currently play area 3. Add to 1 zone of irrigation to existing sprinkler system for new sod area 4. Install weed barrier and 1.5" river rock to match existing river rock 5. Remove and dispose of existing damaged concrete walk, block retaining wall and soft-set flagstone, mulch, edging, landscape timbers and other materials.
Daniel was prompt in responding to our request for a bid. He proposed some great ideas and was wonderfully responsive to our requirements and budget limitations. In less than an hour we were in full agreement on every aspect of the landscaping of our side and back yard. Privacy from our neighbors was one of our goals along with physical beauty. Both were achieved in totality. He is a pleasure to work with, it is like dealing with an old friend. On the day the work began his crew was right on time and wasted no time getting to work. Daniel asked that my wife and I participate in planning curves in the walk way and the stone wall and proceeded to form it in accordance to our liking. The rest of the crew removed sod and dug tree holes. Every thing was organized and coordinated. The project was completed in two days. His crew members were a joy to work with and had great attitudes. I was especially impresses by the quality of his stone work. Great craftsmanship. We couldn't be happier with the end result, we recommend Daniel without reservation.
Description of Work: Daniel planned and executed a landscape plan that he proposed which included a concrete sidewalk from our front drive way to our patio in the rear. He built a 40 ft. stone retaining wall for a planting bed, poured a patio, installed three trees, five bushes and a couple of ornamental grasses. The work included grass removal, installation of a drip and lawn sprinkler system. Bark and fabric were installed in the planting beds.

I emailed Daniel some time last week hoping for a quote for landscaping and paving for my new home in Arvada. Daniel called me on Friday and asked if he could come by on Monday. We agreed on 8:30am and left it at that.Monday comes and he hasn't shown up by 9am. I called Daniel at 9am and when he picked up, he sounded really puzzled and asked if I had an appointment booked. Apparently he had forgotten all about promising to come down.He admitted his mistake, apologized and wanted to set up another appointment. I thought I'd give him another chance given all the positive reviews on Angie's List. We set up another appointment for 9:30am on Wednesday, which was today. It is now 1pm and Daniel did not turn up, much less call.I don't understand how someone with such low level of professionalism could be on Angie's List. Once could be a fluke, and I can forgive that, but twice is just too much and a waste of my time. I cant' bring myself to call him back to reschedule, but wanted to share my experience with others.Avoid this contractor and give the work to someone else who deserves it.

I contacted the provider to get an estimate regarding out back patio and patio cover. I explained why we were searching for a new contractor, because our old one we had to fire after he ruined our house and was supposed to do our back patio and did not. The owner Rob said sorry to hear about your frustration however advised me never to tell another contractor my issues regarding why we were looking and what the prior contractor did. Also he mentioned that his usually job cost about $5K and our did not seem like it could reach that. He has missed the boat on the job as the patio is very large and so it the patio cover, so this is his loss. Also he has now missed the opportunity for future work with my other projects and others I work with that have numerous landscape jobs. I would never recommend this contractor to anybody, since he is trying to make sure no one ever knows about bad contractors. Make me wonder if he has done the same thing to others as my old contractor did. Do not use this contractor.

First I want to say that my patio is a DREAM COME TRUE! Daniel and his crew really outdid themselves! My interactions with Daniel were excellent from the beginning. He was very easy to get a hold of, and extremely responsive every time I emailed him or called him. His wife responds to much of the correspondence as well, and she is like talking to an old friend. The ease of communication was extremely important to us because, especially in the busy season, most other landscapers never get back to us. When Daniel came to our home, we had already put down a refundable deposit with another landscaper. I was simply doing my due diligence by getting another quote. Daniel had great ideas and provided a lot of input. He brought up the idea of flagstone patio instead of pavers. By the end of the quote, we were so impressed with Daniel that we requested our money back from the other company. Before the job began, Daniel sent me pictures and spent time helping me pick out the right color. I LOVED that he gave me his opinion. So many other landscapers so-and quot;its whatever you likeand quot;...but I don't see this stuff everyday, so I didn't know what I liked. Daniel was not pushy with his opinion, just honest. Though he did spend adequate time with us, there were still a few details that I was uneasy about because I was looking at things in pictures and not in person. It required trust on my part, but it was completed exactly as expected.Daniel's time frame to begin the project and also to finish was better than everyone else's. Our entire patio was completed in one week. Though we did not see Daniel much in the throughout the week, his foreman, Juan, was amazing! He was very professional, patient and paid attention to detail. I was nervous to bring up a small change that I wanted, but he was very nice about it and agreed with me. Daniel came over when the project was done to make sure I was happy and also helped me figure out how to seal it within my budget. He also gave me ideas about other things to do with my landscaping-some that were diy and some that he could help with in the future. Daniel's price was fair and he respected our budget. He was slightly better priced than the big landscape companies, and slightly more than the smaller companies. He was very accommodating regarding the lighting. When we couldn't afford the package, we ended up buying our lighting ourselves and his crew laid it for us in the concrete under the pavers. Daniel added some nice extra touches by building in beautiful granite boulders in the flagstone. I am guilty of being a fairly critical person, and that was magnified by the fact that I've had such bad luck in the past with other people. Daniel exceeded my expectations and is the first contractor I've had to home that I would be excited to use again. The patio is truly a professional job and is everything I asked for. When the job was completed, Juan spent a half a day cleaning up and putting my yard back the way he found it.
Description of Work: 2 levels of over 600 square feet of flagstone patio. Patio lighting. Rounded fire pit bench wall.
