Quoted three different rates, charged for SIXTEEN rolls of tape and only found THREE UNFINISHED rolls in the trash, added tons of fees not originally mentioned, added an extra person the morning of, took longer than expected, damaged product in front of our eyes, and ended up with THREE TIMES MORE of the billed amount. F***** company.

On the one hand, All My Sons saved our lives and our move when another moving company called us the day before our move and canceled on us. We were thrilled to find another company had availability the next day. The movers were kind and courteous and generally pleasant to be around. They worked hard in the heat. Things started off well, but then went south fast. They ran out of room on the truck (in our opinion from inefficient planning/packing), they began to rush--causing damage and loss to some of our items, and ended up calling in an extra man to assist (at an extra charge) mid-job. In the end, we were moving ourselves in our minivan until 4am the next morning as our occupancy had expired. The cost came in about $1,500 greater than we were expecting. Items were strewn all over our house, some unpacked, some not. Some placed, some just in random spots. They allege this was to keep them from going into overtime and causing us to pay more. In any event, while we could not have moved the big items without them, we think as movers there should be way more efficiency in the job than they demonstrated. We did not tip ($1500 over what we were expecting + another 8 hours of work on our part did not seem like something we could tip on top of). We have submitted a claim for the items that are missing/damaged. We believe the right thing to do is fully reimburse for the items that are unusable (such as our bed and the kids' trampoline). However, we expect All My Sons to pull the 60 cents/lb card--for which we were never informed of ANY other option until we received paperwork after the move. That omission will be held against us, I'm sure. With this, it will be clear that the customer is NOT the top priority for this company. Update: AMS has offered us $128 to compensate for their negligence which led to missing parts of our bed, trampoline, and a few other items that were damaged. WAY under what it will cost to replace.

Sales person lied about price, lied about equipment needed, and lied about hours estimated. I found out about this several days before the move when the manager called me and went over everything. The manager refused to match the price quoted by his employee because the employee has been let go, even though I had it in writing. My price went up more than $200 than what was quoted because his salesperson wanted to make a sale. So unprofessional. Hired a liar and won't match the lies that were told in order for the salesman to make a quick buck. Absolute ripoff.

I was emailed in advance of what their service would provide. It included 3 men and a truck for approximately 200 dollars an hour plus 14% gas fees for driving to location. They promised 50 dollar discount for veteran status. Also charged miscellaneous fees for packing materials. They came to wrong location and argued with me over phone about the location. They arrived at 9:50 a.m at correct location but claimed they started at 9 am. They looked later and verified by the manager the official start time of truck was 9:50 am. They refused to refund the additional 50 minutes off my total bill which was at a rate of 200 per hour. My contract said 3 professional moving men to be provided but one man showed up with two young boys that appeared to be under 18. The boys appeared to have no moving experience nor any interest in working hard, They were on their phones and one refused to wear a mask. One boy told me he had to pace himself so he wasn't doing much. I received a call from office manager checking on progress. I told him it was going poorly. David was the head guy and refused to have the boys get off the phones or wear masks. I had 3 rolls of packing tape and David used his tape instead of the tape I was providing and I was charged for that. At location they refused to unload the truck until I paid for about 3 hours in advance. David threatened to drive away with all my stuff. I had all boxes marked as to where they belong because I am a disabled veteran and they didn't put all the boxes in the right rooms after being asked to do so. David, put bed in a spot I told him not to.. Then put boxes in other spots and then redid it the way it was suppose to be but that added additional time . They left no pathway in one room and one boy and I had to rearrange it which took even more time. David complained that the furniture was too heavy and had to coach the boys because they couldn't lift too much. David spent a lot of time on his phone throughout the day because he lost he tablet. They gave me no receipt and said he would charge 1150 dollars and charged my credit card 1250 dollars . It a didnt 'appear they applied my initial 100 dollar deposit. Office manager has failed to provide me a detailed receipt of the expenses. Even charged 156 dollars for a 60 mile total trip. When I called to work out the details they yell and get hostile. When I call the claims office in Texas they don't help me , they just patch me back to local office. David said he would adjust the price per hour to 179 and since I don't have any detailed receipt there is no explanation of how they came to this amount. I did get a vary vague receipt. They are ignoring my request for a detailed gas receipt explaining the 156 dollars. David told me they i was lucky to move me that day because of covid. He claimed to be the owner of the nationwide company. He said I was lucky they didn't cancel my move day. They show no interest in resolving my charges.

Terrible experience! Robert came to our house to give us an estimate. Estimate seemed high, but Robert promised us that all of their movers were ten-year veterans, that they don't hire day laborers, and they would treat our things like their own. When the movers showed up, they were all young kids. Some of them didn't even know each other. We continued with the move, hoping it would be okay. It was not. They continually dropped items that were marked fragile, kept asking if we were moving everything, and didn't bother to put items in the correct rooms in the new house. We had color coded everything per Robert's suggestion. Movers were very confused by this and we ended up with most of our items in the garage, some items upside down, some items broken. Our floors were scratched when they moved a dresser. The driver took a picture and told us that a contractor would be in touch within a week. Never heard from anyone. To top it all off, the driver had a terrible attitude all day (his co-worker said it was because he "lost his girl"), and he left used tissues and emptied a soda down the driveway of our old home - I'm sure something the new buyer appreciated. I tried emailing several people at the company and did not receive one single response. I contacted customer service and all I got was a claim form. Upon reading the claim form agreement, and it says I can't post any negative comments if I accept a settlement. So disappointed that we wasted so much money on a terribly unprofessional company.

Movers were very good -- boxed, wrapped everything I did not have already boxed up; protected my floor with runners and railings going upstairs with padding. They were very efficient. The move did end up costing me more than the estimate, which I was not real happy with, but considering I had to have them make a second stop to clear out a storage unit, I suppose it was really fair. Moved from Dacono to Colorado Springs. They are a little higher than some movers out there, but they are bonded and insured and seemed to be well trained to do a good job. It was worth the few extra bucks not to have any headaches. I will be hiring them again to move me from the storage unit to my new home.

Terrible experience overall! The packers were not careful with my stuff, mislabeled, or didn't label boxes, used the wrong size boxes on many things, and packed some boxes that weighed over 50 pounds. The second day one of the movers stood around. He had no direction and seemed clueless about moving. This company is expensive and then you get crap for service!

The crew that showed up was a real bunch of thugs. The stank of smoke and one had bleary red eyes. One of the four was ok. They showed up with now power tools when they were previously notified a bunk bed would require disassembly. Had to give them my drill. (I'm paying by the hour.). Personal property is missing. Contacted company 2x to discuss. No response. The team left drink bottles and coffee cups at the house for me to throw away. I had to direct them constantly. They would have left a lot behind had I not been running around supervising. After the job was done, I found boxes still in the basement of the old house and a pair of headphones missing from my desk drawer. Your sons are real gentlemen, Vic!

From beginning to end this was a great experience. I was overly anxious about using a moving company, so I tried to do my homework beforehand. I called several companies that scheduled an estimate but failed to show up. I called All My Sons and gave them detailed information about what I needed. Linda walked me through all the details. She explained that there is a 2 hour minimum (most places I called wanted a 3 hr minimum). The travel cost was only one hour instead of the and quot;time to location with a minimum of 45 minutesand quot; that I was quoted by other companies. There was a fuel surcharge, but this was all explained up front before I booked. I gave Linda a deposit over the phone to hold my place. The day before my move, I received a call from Evan letting me know what time the movers would be at my address. He asked if I had any questions and said that if I had any anxiety about the move to call him directly. I was quoted a window of between noon and 2 PM for arrival. Two movers arrived with a very large truck at 12:10. They were friendly and got straight to work. They loaded and unloaded everything with no damages. They were even friendly and playful with my 5-year daughter running around. The price was fair and lower than any of the other companies that I contacted. I paid via credit card on file and there were no hidden charges. I gave the movers a tip because I felt they did an excellent job. If I ever have to move again, I would gladly use this company again.

Main takeaways: 1. Unreliable cost estimates used to close sales that are likely to increase by 20-30% when it's payment time. 2. Hourly fee structure, which systematically incentivizes the entire company to give unreliable estimates and exceed them, and to work inefficiently. Their motto could be "we make more money from you if we're worse at our job." 3. Generally polite, well-meaning and hard-working but amateur moving crew with a clear lack of top-down professional procedural structure from the company. 4. Admin staff that is friendly and really pushes the "We're a family-owned business and we really care about our customers" line until the moment the job is over and it's time to pay your inflated invoice. Any interaction from there on is hostile. ----------- I went with these guys only because I was in and out of the country and needed to get movers booked on short notice, and they were the first ones to return my call and confirm availability. During the initial call, the guy I spoke to said the move would cost around 1800 dollars. A few weeks later, about a week out from the moving date, the estimate came back in a more "official" email format as around 2300 dollars. They said that they bill based on an hourly rate, and the actual cost depends on how long the job really takes, but that this will be a reliable estimate and they don't expect to exceed it by much. On moving day they give you a two-hour window for the start of the move, and say that they'll call you when they're around 30 minutes away from the storage facility. They say that they can't give a more accurate arrival time, because they could run into delays with traffic. This is an interesting practice, because numerous types of mapping software provide accurate, real-time estimates of transit times that include traffic delays, and if historical averages show a consistent traffic delay on a given route at a given time, they could both plan ahead and respond enroute and largely account for it. Only being able to show up within a two-hour window is pretty silly if you're a professional driving a route in the same region of your own state. Loading and transit went relatively smoothly, with a difficult drive up a mountain road that the crew handled well. The crew is (mostly - there was one member who was an exception) very polite and hard-working, at least at the beginning of the day. They mean well, but they're working without a clear procedural structure, which undermines their efficiency and their ability to maintain a consistent level of performance throughout the workday. This is not their fault, it's the responsibility of the administrative and ownership side of the business to provide them with a structure to follow and the training to ensure that they can do so. At this, the company fails. For instance: A) I had to remind them to use padding on the railings on our stairs and a covering on the high-traffic areas on the carpet on the stairs and hallways. When they finally did this, they didn't completely blanket-pad the railings, they left the stairs uncovered, and they used folded-up moving blankets to protect the floor, which they only put in a few places. Other companies may use taped-down layers of thick paper (this is a pre-fab product, easy to use) which works well and can easily cover every area needed. Moving blankets get kicked up as they're walked on, which not only leaves parts of the carpet open to dirty shoes (we have white carpet - staining it isn't something I'd like to pay someone to do for me) but creates an extremely dangerous tripping hazard for the crew. B) The crew showed up without food, water or even water bottles. We were moving into an empty house in the mountains. We had running water, but no cups or bottles to put it in. They worked through much of the day without a break and without food or water before I drove to the nearest town and bought them lunch and drinks. C) Working without food or water dehydrated and wore them out, and they were pretty exhausted partway through the day, which meant slower movement and more shortcuts. Again, this isn't their fault, they're just working for a business that doesn't provide them with a clear work structure or planning processes. D) They were taking smoke breaks outside in our driveway, and because we had open windows in the house and a breeze blowing in, our house was filled with cigarette smoke. E) We were paying to have all of our large, heavy furniture moved into the appropriate rooms and to have the largest pieces assembled. At the end of the day, they couldn't assemble the beds because they couldn't find all the parts, although they spent about an hour slowly tinkering with them. At this point we talked with the crew leader and they called it a day, because the clock was ticking and they were getting nowhere. After they left, I found all the necessary pieces, which were labeled but had been placed into the wrong rooms. Most of them were in the garage. In retrospect, this may have been the work of their one crew member who didn't seem to share the work ethic of the rest of the group. F) The only piece of furniture they did assemble was a dining room table, which I had to take apart the following day because they didn't tighten the screws on it. The two heaviest pieces of furniture, which were both meant for the master bedroom, were both left abandoned in the hallway. -------- The final, and by far the most disappointing, part of the process was at the end of the day when it was time to tally the bill. The charge, which started at an initial 1800 and rose to 2300 after I'd booked them, was now at 2800 dollars. The crew leader doing the paperwork said that since this was so far over what we'd been given as an estimate, he'd speak to the rep at their office (one of their admin staff on the ownership side of the company), and ask if they could make the bill more reasonably close to what had been estimated. After a few exchanges with his boss, the crew leader put me on the phone with him. This entire conversation was hostile, and seemingly deliberately manipulative. Or at the least, a well-practiced script. The estimate was based on exactly the load that had been described. Two full trucks. Despite this, the hours required for the job were around 30% higher than what had been estimated. That's a pretty big margin of error from a professional, experienced business. I asked the guy on the phone about this discrepancy, and his hostility picked up a notch. I was standing next to the entire crew, who were listening to the conversation and waiting to leave, and he's on the other end of the phone saying, "That's a non-binding estimate. We're not obligated to follow that number at all. If you want to tell me that the crew is lazy, that they didn't work hard, that you think they were intentionally moving too slow, then we can talk. Is that what you're saying? Is this crew lazy? Did they move too slow for you? Are you unhappy with them? You saying they didn't move fast enough?" Of course I'm not going to stand in front of this crew and call them lazy. They're not. They were great workers. To reduce the question of an estimate that was off by 30% for a load that was exactly as described to an issue of "worker laziness" in an openly hostile tone is insulting and intellectually dishonest. At best, what happened with the estimate was an issue of incompetence on the part of the admin staff responsible for the "estimate." More likely, it's an inherent component of a business that operates on a model which benefits from inefficiency and dishonest estimates meant to gain customers before taking them for more money.

Requested 3 person crew. Four arrived and convinced us to use them - "the move would go faster." The crew started off strong when my daughter was there to watch and then went radically downhill when she had to leave. Apparently a lot of time was spent (and charges for the materials) to aggressively wrap in plastic and tape - LOTS of tape was used (time consuming) items already in storage and in boxes. When describing the move I was quoted a price of less than $1000.00 - everything was already boxed and in storage. Moved from a 3 bedroom house to a four bedroom house, both with baeme

Their price was $129 an hour plus $129 additional charge for the drive. They went from 9 to 2. They were prompt. They did a great job packing everything up. Once unpacked, they were very careful with the items. I have one small complaint. They didn't always follow the directions on the boxes so I had to move some stuff around. It was only three boxes and it was minimal. Overall, they did an "A" job. Their price was competitive with everyone else. I would definitely use their services again when I need to.

This was the worst moving experience I have EVER had and can not stress enough how this company should be avoided. I thought I was going to have a great experience because I actually spoke to the owner of the company on the phone to schedule the move. He gave me an estimate that was much lower than what it ended up being. I told him 2 men, he sent 3. Although, I thought it might go more quickly so I didnt complain and I didnt realize what collosal waste of money it would be. The 3rd man was an older gentleman that could not lift anything. He literally only carried sofa cushions and bags of clothing. NONE of the men were in uniform shirts like it shows on their website. And one told me that he had just gotten out of prison. REALLY? My jaw dropped. He actually turned out to the the friendliest and hardest working of the three though. And they arrived an hour and a half late. They damaged two pieces of furniture and our freezer chest. They tried hiding the damage by standing in front of the freezer as we were talking to him before they left. He actually put his hand over the dent. At the end of the move we were asked to fill out a survey. Mind you...our Plasma screen tv was being held downstairs until we gave them the survey so we gave them a good review. Then we had to remind them to bring up our huge TV. I carefully labled all the boxes as to where they should go but they piled all the boxes in the living room and some where left in the garage. What should have been a 3 or 4 hour move (local 2 bedroom apartment) took 3 men 6 hours. To top it off one of the guys actually had the nerve to ask if we had given the driver a tip because he wanted to make sure that the driver split it with him. Then he tried to guilt us into giving him a tip directly. We had not intention of tipping them for two reasons. One, because they did a terrible job. Two, because we had a garage full of furniture that we were having picked up by ARC, the local charity. A reclining sofa, matching chaise lounger, coffee table and a nice patio set. The driver from All my Sons asked if he could have all the items and would split it with the guys on his crew. We said yes because we thought it might actually get us a good deal on the move. WRONG. Instead, they almost left some of our items behind because the furniture that we gave them took up too much of the room on the truck. I couldnt believe it. I just felt sick about the whole thing. So, here I am again...almost a year later looking for a mover again. This is why I decided to join Angies List, so I will NEVER have to go through that nightmare again.
Description of Work: We hired this company for a local 2 bedroom apartment move, which, based on their website and what the owner told us, would be handled in a prompt and professional manner in about 4 hours. He told us they wrap and protect all the items and that a detailed inventory would be taken as they loaded the truck and that the items would be checked of as they were taken off the truck. No inventory was taken. None at all. Thankfully I knew to have my own detailed inventory which I checked off myself. And I had to ask them to wrap my white mattress and some of the more fragile furniure. I was then told that this would be an extra charge.

They have a minimum for which they would charge. They were very friendly, but slightly pushy. They came out on a Sunday and gave us a quote. They did the job for us two days later. Their truck was an old one. They called us numerous times to make sure that everything was in order. They were really good about contacting the clients and making sure that we understood everything. We didn’t have to wait.

They were quite late, I suggested waiting until the next day because it was going to be dark. They started, toward the end they were really rushing and throwing my things around. They broke part of an antique chair, and they weren't paying attention to "this way up" on dishes. They broke some of my grandmother's things. They did send someone out to look at the chair, did an ok job fixing it.
Description of Work: They loaded me up in Wheatridge, CO to Denver.

We placed a call to All My Sons on 6-20-06 and to date (6-28-06) have yet to hear from anyone from the company! We were told "someone will call within 24-48 hrs;" however, no contact has been made by them. We feel a 48 hr response is excessive, but no response is unacceptable. Obviously we would not recommend this company!
